President Bush has settled on Michael B. Mukasey, a retired federal judge from New York, to replace Alberto Gonzales as attorney general and will announce his selection Monday, a source familiar with the president's decision said Sunday evening.
Mukasey, who has handled terrorist cases in the U.S. legal system for more than a decade, would become the nation's top law enforcement officer.

Bye bye First Amendment. Giuliani's "broken windows" legal approach crushed civil liberties and free speech in NYC, only to be scolded by the courts for those abuses over and over again. This guy was advising Giuliani to destroy tens of thousands of works of art from the streets of NY, in the name of law and order, KNOWING it was illegal to do so, but didn't care.
At least his tenure will be short.

I think this is a clever ruse. By naming Mukasey, I think he thinks he is getting us to think the opposite of what we think he thinks, but I think he wanted Mukasey all along.
