Telegraph (U.K.):

Senior American intelligence and defence officials believe that President George W Bush and his inner circle are taking steps to place America on the path to war with Iran, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt.

Pentagon planners have developed a list of up to 2,000 bombing targets in Iran, amid growing fears among serving officers that diplomatic efforts to slow Iran's nuclear weapons programme are doomed to fail.

I wonder how many Israeli targets Iran has in its sights? As Ahmadinejad puts it, Israel should be "wiped off of the face of the earth". Is that a genocide that the world is ready to accept? And to those that say that if Ahmadinejad gets nukes he is too smart to use them, thanks for the laugh. What will you say after he does use them?

Yep...OUR soldiers are out there, in roving bands, murdering innocent Iraqis. We are blowing up markets with car bombs and shooting innocent civilians.
Uh...those would be the insurgents...otherwise known as terrorists (or Syrians and Iranians if you prefer).
The media would like it if everyone thought that we were over in Iraq gunning down innocent Iraqis on street corners. If every headline that they put up that says "250 Iraqis killed in bombing" was taken as the US bombing a busy street corner and killing them rather than (the truth)an insurgents car bomb that blew up on a busy corner.
Our guys are not mowing down the innocent Iraqis...their "friends" the Syrians, Iranians and fellow countrymen are and they are taking our guys with them.

Unlike some of the past objects of our hegemonic wrath Iran's not exactly stupid. Do you thing anything of any importance that isn't tied down hasn't already been moved 'one building over' so our cruise missiles will strike nearly empty targets? Judging from past experience EVERYBODY knows exactly what those 2,000 target will be. Bridges, runways, phone exchanges, cel phone towers, government buildings, army barracks, wedding receptions...

The neocons, fundamentalist evangelicals, and the whole lot of PNAC are ready and willing to support a war in Iran. The fundamentalists want to restore the Kindgom of Israel for the second coming of Christ, and await Armageddon. The PNAC and neocons want to dominate the world and its resources. They and their corporate allies: Carlysle Group, Halliburton, Blackwater and Bechtel are all too eager to profit no matter what happens or who else suffers. John Bohenan said this is a "small price" to pay. I doubt his children are serving in the military, or that he has. None within the Bush cabinet or administration served: Rove, Cheney, etc. They don't care about using our children, spouses as pawns (fodder) for their ambitions. They reap the proceeds, while our veterans can not get decent medical care, pay, benefits and come home either in body bags or maimed. Tell them to enlist and serve before they dare ask us to play their "games" for them!

PARIS (Reuters) - French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said on Sunday his country must prepare for the possibility of war against Iran over its nuclear programme, but he did not believe any such action was imminent.

Seeking to ratchet up the pressure on Iran, Kouchner also told RTL radio and LCI television that the world's major powers should use further sanctions to show they were serious about stopping Tehran getting atom bombs, and said France had asked French firms not to bid for tenders in the Islamic Republic.

Defeatocrat?

Chester, it was no "defeatocrat" that won WWII and no "defeatocrat" who brought us "peace with honor" in Vietnam.

If you were royalty, they would address you as "Baron of Grey Matter".

When you're speaking of targeting Iran and Chimpy in the same sentence, the pickings are slim, Ammodud. Chimpy couldn't find a target with two hands, a flashlight, a map, a cadre of experts, and the best fighting force in the world (the US military). The problem here is that commander guy and deciderererererer--codpieces notwithstanding.

So you go on ranting, silly boy, and we'll continue to deride you.

Sorry, short snippets can't be classified properly as a RANT, technically.

But, your 1st paragraph could be.

DEar God Please Help US !! Or any other entity that has seen the goodness of the American people and understood the diffence between US and the politcal Corporate machine we have admittedly left unattended. some resent, fear or abhorr our rather brash personalities. But our hearts are good and well meaning. We're just boisterous because we live freedom- esp of speech. Most of the time we're full of hot air, but debate is a pass time we use in our gatherings, it's really an inclusive devise not a devisive devise. Most of US have been struggling for the last 3 + decades to put our money where our mouth is. We were naive enough to listen to our 'leaders'. We're no better off- in fact we're worse. But we don't need everything we have been given- we know we are just as happy when are basic needs are met. Happiness is not a material goal. we've been living large and are now feeling our age. This is (hopefully) a minor Cardial infaction we must survive and recover from. Help US if you can, But we understand it is our responsiblity to fight for our own lives, and thus live long enough to help the lives of our kin throughout the world.PEACE.

What is wrong with you, Cletus? You probably cheered on Shrub as he invaded a country that had none of these weapons OR the ability to create them. You need an enormous infrastructure to make them, one that Iraq lacked, especially after 12 years of stifling sanctions. In the meantime, Iran went ahead full-bore while Chimpy went about setting fire to the ME, all the while leaving Osama free to conspire.

Get a grip on reality.

I'd say that if the U.S. really attacks Iran, it will be one of the most egregious mistakes we've ever made in our history. Not that the U.S. can't turn Iran into an "Iraq lookalike" after the "Shock & Awe," campaign. Obviously, no nation on the face of the earth could really sustain a campaign against American air power. But, that's not to say that American aircraft won't come down by anti-aircraft fire.
It's also not to say that three won't be losses of American ships in the Persian Gulf. And, there would be a severe up tick in the number of Iranian ground attacks on Americans in Iraq. Americans should look for one true warning signal that I think will occur:
If we hear that the "British responsibilities to the Iraqi people have been completed," I'd say, that means that they've rounded off what they believe was their committment to the Iraqis so far as training and stability goes.
British forces, I'd guess, could and likely WILL be withdrawn from their perimeter quite surreptiously and quietly. What may appear to be 5000 British forces in Basra might suddenly only amount to 500. The withdrawal in place would be deft, and if such a withdrawal happens, and it's announced that by such and such a date (end of 2007, I'd guess), ALL British troops are out of Iraq, that will mean Gordon Brown has ordered them out, to protect them from a hellbroth of retaliation.
If Australians, New Zealanders and Danes quickly follow, or also suddenly are withdrawn, that means those countries have told Bush: not until we're out.
I dread the idea of yet another war. It would prove Bush is insane, as is Cheney.

American air power only goes so far, as demonstrated in Vietnam. Unless Bush is hell-bent-for-leather to destroy Iran (and their oil), this would be another Iraq, only an order of magnitude bloodier. Can someone get that man a bj?

Well, there's a list that serves absolutely no useful purpose. We don't have the ability to fight a three-, much less two-front war given McFlightsuit's inability to make a permanent connection with reality. Can we just fast-forward to January 2009?

The problem is that this entire administration is dysfunctional. Where would a mental health professional start? There's enough complexes there to fill up a good-sized city.
