Emmys Censor Sally Field's Anti-War Statement

Los Angeles Times:

"If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be any god -" Emmy winner Sally Field said before the Emmycast cut her off her sound and pointed the camera away from the stage so viewers would be distracted. Cut off were the words "god-damned wars in the first place."

"How can this be?" she asked when she won best actress in a drama series for her work as matriarch Nora Walker on "Brothers & Sisters." While the two-time Oscar winner already has two Emmys, this was her first nomination for series work, and she bested a field that included favorite Edie Falco of "The Sopranos."

"This belongs to all the mothers of the world - may they be seen and valued," she said in a heartfelt speech that was only partially heard by Emmywatchers in the US while CTV in Canada did not cut her off.

I love Sally Field's work, and I think FOX has become a pathetic cog in the neo-con machine, BUT... I have to say this to Ms. Field - George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Scooter Libby, David Petreus, Paul Wolfowitz and all the rest of the maniacal men in this administration who've debased themselves and our country over these last six years all had mothers! It's a nice fantasy to imagine a world in which loving, benign mothers forever protected their children from harm, but as long as said mothers (in collusion with fathers) continue to create self-centered pathological narcissists in the many ways that I've outlined here before, then their sons will continue to do much harm in the world. Sorry, moms, but we're all in this together.

Gidget's, anti-war speech was not censored by Fox. The words, "god-damn" was censored. The rest of Gidget's speech was broadcasted. Gidget, did not have to use the words, "god-damn" to get her point across. The Flying Nun baited Fox, and the pinheads out there bought it. I don't think Smokey and the Bandits girlfriend should have won. Mariska Hargitay, from Law and Order should have won. She rocks! Anyway, lets put the whold thing into perspective. It was the Emmys.
