Police Taser Florida Student After He Asks John Kerry Why No One Has Tried To Impeach Bush

A university student with a history of taping his own practical jokes was Tasered by campus police and arrested after loudly and repeatedly trying to ask U.S. Senator John Kerry questions during a campus forum.

Andrew Meyer, 21, spent a night in jail before his release Tuesday morning. His attorney, Robert Griscti, did not return messages seeking comment.

A roomful of campus forum attendees have no obligation to endure a self-promoting bad actor punk whose only purpose was to disrupt the event and capture it on video.

Clarissa Jessup, who contributed I-Report video of the incident to CNN, said Meyer gave her his camera and asked her to shoot video of him posing his questions to Kerry.

i'm a life-long liberal. i vote democratic. my parents were also democrats. i hate what is happening to this country under the bush regime. we may never recover from the damage done.

i am also a "from day one" reader and blogger here at huffpost.

however, after learning of the story from UF and then reading and viewing all the available clips on net - AND also reading what only can be classified as mounting "net" hysteria here at huffpost - i think i have to reevaulate exactly who i am aligned with. certainly i will never align myself with anything such as bushco, but i now question those whom i claim are on "my side."

good god - the hysterical - and i don't mean funny - comments posted under this one story are actually rather frightening. it has spun itself off into its own whirling dervish, creating conspiracy where none exists. it helps that i actually know UF and gainesville and how 'accent' works - it helps because when i read some of the comments here and listen to TV and radio, i am able to bring history and insight into a current event.

and i've certainly had my eyes opened. it makes me question things i've gotten heated up about that were reported in the news and then blogged here at huffpost and other sites.

and i, for one, am going to reevaluate how worked up i am going to get about certain issues.

of all the "free speech" issues, including "free speech zones," i don't think that this faux incident at UF is the one to rally behind, since as time goes on, it is not what it initially appears to be.

NO ONE need be tasered and yes, the campus cops need more training. but i am stepping back from here on in with a more discerning eye as to what exactly to get worked up about - and frankly, this isn't one of them. to see the building hysteria in comments - all 18 pages of them - has truly been an education for me.

I am glad to see that there are 19 pages of discussion about this. It defines who we are. We obviously care greatly about whether this activity was right or wrong, on the part of the young man, the police and Kerry. This is what we need more of in this country. Opinions on issues that matter.

We also need to come to some resolution we can all be comfortable with. That's why we have representative government. Our representatives are supposed to negotiate on our behalf to get reasonable compromises to serve all of us. The current administration has refused to compromise, and the formerly republican congress went along with them, refusing to do its duty to serve us by actually considering the qualifications of appointees before approving them and enabling everlasting war against the obvious wishes of the people of this once great nation, destroying conservative economic values along the way. The democrats were complicit. Democrats now have a slight majority and control the agenda, but not the votes. Compromise is required. Service to country is required. Revolution is an alternative if they don't do their jobs. We have another election coming up to remind them.

For those that think that what happened to Mr. Meyer was right, that the use of force and a teaser was necessary. I would like you to read a bit about our American history before you start condemning him.

Mr. Meyer was right to complain and ask aggressive questions that were, or were not, relevant to our current situation in the USA and foreign policy.
