And by the way, Kerry showed that he really has become a friggin coward. He stood by and did nothing. What a disgrace. So symbolic of the Democratic Party in general. Simpering toadies and Bush-asskissing wimps.

This is just part of the ongoing teaching process from Bush that citizens should be quite, and should be concerned about what is best to generate income for the rich. And it seems to be working just fine.

Please forgive an Englishman commenting on what is obviously an Internal matter, but after watching this video (and several others from different perspectives posted on the web) I cannot help but think that this is just not pat.

Something about it all does not add up.

Try looking at the Huffpo recording without the sound and you will see it starts with a “suit” looking directly at the camera, saying something to the police officers, which then look at the camera and then the “suit” deliberately moves away from the camera angle. The police then move in and the rest is history.

Look at the actions of both police and the student, (without sound) and you might see a different picture.

Question for any lip-readers: What was the suit saying to the police directly before the arrest?

Question for any others: Who is the “suit” that does not want to be recorded on camera?

It just seems strange that the “suit” was speaking to the two principle police officers involved, that led this attack against the student, that they all looked directly at camera before the first move and that the speaker has had his political chances damaged by this situation, so, who is the “suit” and what did he say to the police in the instant before they moved onto this young student?

This whole incident smells suspect and politically led, not by the student, but by the disappearing “suit” and the two police officers that led this charade.

I am not one to be swayed into believing in the Universal Conspiracy theory as I personally believe that most acts come under the Universal Cock-up theory, but in this one instance, the actions and words of all involved just do not add up and leads me to think that this is just a set-up to discredit the speaker as this seems to be the main result of this whole affair, if the posts on this site removing support for Mr. Kerry are anything to go by.

But then, everything I say could be wrong.

Wow. I did look at the video again. That's very interesting. Your point about Kerry being criticized about his reaction to this incident is well taken.

"the suit" most likely is one of the student government types who are in charge of the program at UF called 'accent' which brings in speakers such as kerry.

i am a UF grad, lived in gville for 17 years until recently. i've attended many programs brought to UF by 'accent.' generally, a student from SG (student government) will introduce the speaker, unless someone more 'important' is asked to. then the STUDENTS are in charge of the rest of the show, including obtaining security for the event.

it was SG who panicked and called in the UPD (university police dept) cops. it was SG who asked that this kid be removed.

it is 'THEIR' program - student run.

There are countless examples of police brutality in this country I'm afraid.

This is NOT one of them. That guy knew exactly what he was doing. He's had his 15 minutes.

Believe it or not, China is allowing a certain amount of protests and people are allowed to show a certain amount of discontent with the government.

The Chinese government fears the larger groups that they fear the individuals.

Chasing and jailing some of these Internet dissenters is because they do not know how many people could be reached or effected, but they fear it could be millions.

They move closer to democracy while we slide backwards toward them

A college kid is being loud and obnoxious and asks a US senator a few impertinent questions.

In a civilized country, the senator would make a quip, the crowd would laugh, if he kept on ranting, the crowd would boo and eventually he would go away.

But this is George Bush's America. All the fascist Repoopicons come on here complaining that the cops weren't hard enough. The kid should have been beaten senseless or dragged off to the police station where the real fun and games could begin. You know the story. Unexplained death, he must have fallen down the stairs ten times. And each time he landed on his face.

There is nothing in this story that required any police involvement.

Of course free speech in George Bush's America means a protest zone two miles away from where the Boy Genius is deigning us with his presence. The protest zone is surrounded by police in heavy body armor with heavy weapons. (Heck that Quaker librarian, she might go berserk at any moment.) And the hall where Bush is speaking is filled with robot-like fascists who applaud his every moronic outburst.

I love the crowds at the Bush rallies. They are all white, wearing suits and ties, applaud at the exact right moments, and never ask a hard question.

And you always have the one black lady put right behind Bush as the Repoopicon version of diversity.

That'll teach him for wearing WHITE after Labor Day!

I noticed he was also wearing BROWN socks with athletic shoes, a NO-NO.

He deserved it for sure.

Another version of the story...

The police report says he was acting one way when cameras were on, another way when they were off...

I'm sure the HuffBots won't believe it... it doesn't fit their action line.

When were the cameras off him? Ive seen about 8 different views from 8 different cameras just this morning. I cant see the New Orleans or Rodney King defense working to well when this is as so much documentation.

Read the story.

There were no cameras on him, apparently, as they walked him down the stairwell out of the building.

Meanwhile the University President Machen spins the truth and claims this guy may have been some sort of a prankster ... as if that might makes the attack by police justified.

Wrong ...

President J. Bernard Machen needs to justify the actions of the police to protect the schools reputation? Nothing like police brutality to bring down enrollment.

Who wants to go to a school where the police take out their fun torture tazers every chance they can ... who cares that Meyer was non-violent and that there were like a thousand police to one zealous student ... tazer the bastard ... he's, he's, resisting ... yeah that's it, ... get him.

Thank God for the video cameras that caught this police crime in action ... otherwise Meyer would have been treated even more unjustly by this corrupt cowardly police department.

You can be assured no one I can influence will attend a University where the students are treated like animals for doing the very thing we teach them to do ... speak up ... get involved ... and do something.

It's sad that the University of Florida President Machen did not come out and immediately condemn this crime. The damage is done. His lack of leadership is trumped only by that of Senator John Kerry's.

Enough said.

PAID LEAVE FOR THE TAZER HAPPY COPS - Isn't that like a vacation that's supposed to look as though officials are looking into the facts. Officials that are invested in an outcome that makes them look good and the student appear guilty.

We know how police brutality and it's cover up works. Bottom line is that it takes a brave and true person to stand up to the tyranny creeping into our lives. And that is exactly what Andrew Meyer did in that auditorium. He stood up against the lies and distortions we as a nation have been subjected to beyond all rational for 6 years.

It's just too bad if the other students are so asleep they don't get. All the more reason for people like Meyer to make a fuss and wake them up.

Meyer did nothing to warrant the police touching him at all. This was clearly an attack on his person by cowardly officers with zero regard for his rights. There was no threat of any kind ... the officers can be seen on tape smirking after they electrocuted Meyer. Very sick human beings.

Imagine what would have happened if Kerry had been elected...his gutlessness would have ensured a GOP landslide in 2006 and 2008.
Remember Bush's incompetence wasn't apparent until Katrina, after the election.
