The man who writes the songs won't be singing any of them on "The View" -- not as long as Elisabeth Hasselbeck is there.
Barry Manilow has backed out of his scheduled appearance on the morning talk show after the show refused to pull Hasselbeck from the interview, "Access Hollywood" has learned.

Poor Barry. It must be hard to live in fear of being in the same room as someone that disagrees with you. I hope he can get over it somehow.
Kudos to Elisabeth for have the guts to be the lone Conservative on The View. I don't actually watch the show since I'm not a stay at home mom or old woman but I respect someone that knows what she believes. A weaker person would just cave and enjoy the newfound love that liberals would shower on her. Instead she stands (sits actually) resolute and is a beacon of sense on a left wing show (much like me on the Huffpost).
Liberals should support Barry Manilow by buying his CDs. You don't have to listen to them. Just give them to your grandmother.

Whatever, What's wrong with being interviewed by a person that disagrees with you? Is he really that insecure with his beliefs that he can't be challenged?

I don't blame Manilow. Who would want to sit in the same room with a shrill, right-wing idiot like Hasselbeck? All she's good for is spouting neoconservative talking points and applying fake tanner on herself.
Maybe Manilow was stuck between appearing on the show and being interviewed by a person with repugnant beliefs - and by so doing would be giving tacit consent to her views - or not appearing to register his disagreement(s).
It's not enough anymore to remain silent, to avoid people with ignorant opinions, to allow people with public platforms to spew nonsense. It's time for everyone to speak up and directly confront and challenge this purveyors of idiocy, like this woman, or O'Reilly, Coulter, Beck, Hannity - whomever.
It's a bit chickenshit for Manilow to bail out. I would have championed him if he had gone on the show and politely, but firmly, informed her she was spouting propaganda and uninformed "talking points," not the truth.

I don't blame The View for standing behind their hosts. But I can't help but believe that they cannot wait for little Elisabeth to go on maternity leave - never to return. I hope to see other guests refusing to do interviews with this little warmongering twinkie. Evidently one person taking a stand makes headlines, while 100,000 people marching on the Capitol gets no notice at all.
what's the big whoop? there's not a single celebrity interview conducted where conditions are not set before hand. they decline interviews and invitations all the time.
let's bring this down to the real world: say your friend invites you out for dinner and some A-hole you can't stand is also going to be there. you say "no thanks, i'll catch you next time." end of story.

Thanks Barry! Elizabitch is just a Bush tool, and adds nothing to that show. At the slightest mention of anything political, she brings up Monica, Bill Clinton etc. She has the IQ of a second grader, and is completely offensive. She's a rude little kid who should stay in her room, but won't leave the grownups alone. I'm looking forward to her maternity leave so I can watch again for a few weeks. I refuse to tune in while she's present.
Rosie is lucky to find a true friend in showbiz. I totallyl agree with Barry Manilow...Hasselbeck is a dumb bush loyalist, who, with her husband, cannot stop drinking that koolaid. I wish her strong, young, husband, would put his money where his mouth is, and join our poor troops in Iraq.
