The man who writes the songs won't be singing any of them on "The View" -- not as long as Elisabeth Hasselbeck is there.
Barry Manilow has backed out of his scheduled appearance on the morning talk show after the show refused to pull Hasselbeck from the interview, "Access Hollywood" has learned.

I quit watching "The View" months ago. Hasselbeck's voice makes my ears want to vomit. Why isn't her husband "supporting" our troops and taking a tour of Iraq instead of sending the same poor guys over and over again?
It is more than sad that BARRY MANILOW has taken up this much space on a political blog. Do his opinions even count? Will anyone really care that he is not there?
I don't know why you libs are complaining about Liz so much. The show's ratings come from differences of opinion. At least Elizabeth is our only supporter (good for you) heaven forbid they should put someone on there who does there research and knows what they are talking about... Like Ms. Coulter. Second...Barry Manilow is the MOST commercial of the writer-performers from his 'golden age.' He lacks soul... he is not funky and his recorded stuff is just a little better than the McDonald's themes he wrote. It is sappy and stupid and not very original. Compared to him, Elton John is Shastakovich. Every time 'Mandy' came on the juke box in my favorite bar, I would unplug it. I cant stand the hooks, the lame lyrics...the sappy themes. Why the hell does this guy deserve a comeback?

He is promoting his new album. If it's just an interview - not going on with all of them - why should he have to debate politics with some right-wing tool? With four people on the show, shouldn't guests have some choice as to which one interviews them?
Also, since the article said she had interviewed him before, maybe it's more of a personal loyalty thing, since Rosie O'Donnell is a friend of his.

Hooray for Barry Manilow! A celebrity should not be required to enter into a situation in which he or she feels uncomfortable. It's difficult enough to give an interview, without giving it to someone in whom you have no respect. Although I feel the Rosie/Elizabeth thing is overblown, I do feel the youngster needs to grow up.
The fact that Elisabeth Hasselbeck has drawn the ire of so many of you liberals posting here on Arianna Huffington's website is a good thing.

I have hardly ever watched The View---especially in recent years--but I did happen to catch a bit of the show not long ago while doing some chanenl surfing--I caught a segment with this gal freaking on something--she reminds me of one of those yuppie, blonde, stay at home moms who live in a big house in a rich suburb with all the latest gadgets, drives a Range Rover or BMW CUV--lives better than 99.9999 percent of the rest of humanity does or ever has---but still feels the need to bitch about all the things she doesn't like and is fearful of and has no problem with restricting "essential liberties" in the name of being safe--especially if it keeps "our kids safe!"
Franklin was so dead on when he said--"he (or she in this case) who forfeit essential liberties for safety deserves neither liberty or safety."
I really do wonder how some of you liberals think you're able to handle radical Islam when you're seemingly afraid of Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
