Britney Ordered To Undergo Random Drug Tests In Custody Battle

Britney Spears has been ordered to undergo random drug and alcohol testing twice a week, according to court documents in her custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The order was issued Monday by a judge who required both parents to refrain from drinking and using drugs around their two young children and 12 hours before either cares for them.

This is more Big Brother crap.
Unless the kids are physically abused and this can be proven the government should stay out of people's families.
People can be horrible parents when totally sober and great parents when using some illegal drugs.
Especially with opiates ,any neglect is because opiates are illegal.
If a parent neglects their kid for work ,or some other "socially acceptable" activity (video games) they don't get "Teated".
The common Drug tests are notoriously unreliable anyway. The ones that have any accuracy are too expensive for regular use.
Drug testing without proven criminal activity should be illegal...especially for employment because they are really used to screen people who may have health problems and cost a lot to insure.
It is not a perfect world and parents almost always care more for their kids then anyone else.
When a kid gets sick Mom , or dad sit with them...not the government.

...and I knew guys when I was a teenager who swore they became better drivers when they had had a couple of drinks. Dude, when you're high, you think you're the best at EVERYthing, when in fact, you have no idea what an idiot you've become.

I can't believe you're actually writing some of the things you've said as if you belive them. Spend some time straight and sober among users and you'll see just how much they can be trusted to take any kind of real responsibility on themselves.

Everybody's different but compare Britney and her boorish behavior to Scarlett Johanssen's youthful maturity. Both started their show-biz careers young. Britney has a sense of entitlement that many stars get when the money and adulation rolls in. Not only being out of control with substance abuse, Britney damages cars in parking lots and drives away and steals clothes that she models for photo shoots. Scarlett, now 21, started acting at age 7 and has always had a lot of talent and serene maturity that other stars could learn from.

There are several actresses that you can cite here. Jodie Foster and Natalie Portman also come to mind.

I appreciate some of the compassion that has been expressed in previous posts, but come on, this girl and been given several "chances" to get it together and just continues to spiral out of control. After the judge handed down her decision, Britney did what any "responsible" parent would do...she went out partying.

This woman needs psychiatric intervention and I'm glad to see that she has been ordered to see a shrink once a week. Even if it's under the guise of parenting sessions, at least she will be seeing a professional!

I was less frightened by the Drug Testing clause and more frightened by the Corporal Punishment clause. The judge would not throw this sentence in without cause. One or the other or some outside witness has complained about the use of corporal punishment. We are talking about a 1 and 2 y/o child being SPANKED! to me, that is grotesque

Good one. Why is she not arrested for indecent exposure? If some guy was walking around with his package exposed wouldn't he be arrested. What is the difference? It is disgusting and points to the fact that she has some real mental problems that need to be addressed. It is not just drinking and drugging. I personally think that she was not given the chance to have a childhood and at least graduate high school has stunted her maturity. Her parents should be ashamed. They should have tried to do something when they could instead of profiting off of her. The fact still remains, she may not be able to make responsible decisions regarding her children at this time.

Twenty five is not a child. She hasn't been a child in seven years. She is irresponsible. When you have children you have to put them first and if you don't want to then give them to someone who loves them and will take care of them.

Britney is suffering the Michael Jackson syndrome which is that her childhood was taken away from her due to being a child singer and actress.

I think Brit is emotionally a very young twenty-five but she has to realize that despite her emotional fragility people, like you, don't care about that.

Brit received some mercy from the judge, for now, but if I were her I won't push my luck. Brit is obviously hurting and I bet she probably feels a lot of people have used and betrayed her, but she has to get over it or at least put it in the back burner and do whatever it takes to keep her kids.
Brit, if your listening, living well with your kids, is the best revenge. While your living well with your kids off your hard earned money, those people who hurt you will be eating their hearts out. Now that’s what a real woman would do. Think about it.
