Alicia Silverstone has stripped naked to promote vegetarianism.

The 'Clueless' actress - who was voted sexiest female vegetarian in 2004 - bared all for the 30-second TV commercial for the goveg.com campaign launched by PETA.

The clip begins with Silverstone sensually pulling herself out of a swimming pool, carefully protecting her modesty with her arms.

It follows with soft shots of the blond star perched at the edge of the pool with her back to the camera revealing her butt and close-ups of her face.

I am sooo happy for her. She in entitled to her views, I just don't agree. Humans are omnivors, I am an omnivou. I am cutting down on red meat but have no intention of cutting that out completely though. I don't happen to care about PETA and what they stand for. Not everything the do and/or say is wacko. I trust them as much as I trust WallMart.

I am a strong supporter of Alicia Silverstone's efforts. I have been vegan for several years and I have never felt healthier. I have more energy and have greater mental alertness. Vegan diets lower the risk of cancer, diabetes, obesity and heart disease. By eating animals and animal by-products, you increase the risk of cancer, herat disease, diabetes and obesity.

I was a passionate PETA member for a year and a half when I was a teenage vegetarian (sounds like a bad movie) and that taught me that I would never support PETA but Alicia Silverstone is lovely and her conviction is to be admired.

- The reason I won't support PETA is because while I was part of that organization, I knew far too many people who truly believed that medical testing on animals was wrong but it would be just fine to test on prisoners. (back then, I idealistically felt both were wrong)
I also was there when a group in another city released rats from a medical testing facility. It was a generational test that had been taking place for 5 years using generations of babies from an original group of 10 rats. The tests were to be a 10 year study and when 5 years worth of rat babies were released, it had to be started all over again. When I pointed out that the release of the rats actually put more rats into danger, I was screamed at and called a baby killer by more than one person. It was a surreal experience when I realized there was zero room for discussion or rational thought in the group.

I remained a vegan for another 2 years after I left PETA but began eating meat after that. I probably eat meat less than a dozen times a month total and the bulk of my meals are still vegetarian. There are times when my body just craves meat... rare tenderloin or crispy bacon.. when that happens, I give in without guilt so to petaphiles, I'm a horrible person...

So what's your point cinemaven? You met some fanatics in an animal rights group? If that's your criteria for dismissing a rational discussion about animal abuse, I guess you will have to dismiss the US Government on just about everything, the Catholic Church on all moral dialogues (coming from child abusers and child abuse cover-uppers it takes away all their authority) and just about every group of people there is since there is a questionable faction in all of them. That you now eat meat now with no guilt is not a demonstration of maturity but rather clearly shows that your dabbling in animal rights issues when you were a teen had no real conviction, you were just another adolescent dillettante. Following the pack then, following a diferent pack now.

Well it's nice to see nekkid flesh I suppose but I'm unclear as to what one is supposed to infer from the ad. I can find many attractive women who eat tons of red meat, those who smoke or do not, those who drink alcohol and those who do not.

I shudder to think if a well-known "gay vegan" were ever to pose for such photos.

The trolls and homophobes would attack like sharks at such a display as this--it's "an abomination of God and nature" and it's "perverse" etc.

I wish Arianna and other posters at HuffPo would once and for all, admonish the bigotry at this site.

Peace

Whenever there is a story on vegetarians, vegans, etc., we can always rely on various posters commenting upon how unattractive non-meat eaters are. No such comments this time! I know you love your Big Macs, and heaven knows you love telling us vegetarians how delicious they are, but fellas, you'd be healthier munching veggie burgers. And stand a far better chance with Alicia!
