Associated Press:

Rudy Giuliani was on the trans-Atlantic campaign trail Wednesday, schmoozing with conservative idol Margaret Thatcher and bragging about his international credentials.

"I'm probably one of the four or five best known Americans in the world," Giuliani told a small group of reporters at a posh London hotel as onlookers gathered in the lobby to gawk at actor Dustin Hoffman, who was on a separate visit.

I do wish HuffPo would stop making these personality/horse race items headlines.

There are far more serious things going on, and this only plays into exactly what is wrong with this country. We don't get any news, we get bickering over personalities.

I agree.

I would like to know what's happening with Iraq already softening it's stance on the ejection of Blackwater employees.

As HORRID as that whole recent shooting is, at least it will hopefully bring forward the news to Americans about millions of our tax dollars going to paid 'security forces' under no oversight by anyone.

There's a letter-to-the-editor in today's Times about this from a former Blackwater employee who worked for them in Afghanistan. Interesting.

Rudy is like trying to avoid hitting a fat chicken hawk crossing the road. Rudy has brought the word clueless to a new level. The neoconservatives believe if you say a lie over long time and enough times it becomes truth. Our constitution has become so weakened because of Bush the first most well know idiot from the USA.

Back during Rudy's reign here in NYC, then local radio jocks Opie & Anthony compared him to Col. Klink, and dubbed him "Col. Combover".

Pretty accurate, I'd say.

Shortly afterwards, he lost the combover look.

A vote for Rudy is a vote for the last few nails to be driven home into the coffin America.

...and is anyone else surprised by our declining support in the rest of the world?

There's not one Repuglican candidate I wouldn't want to see win their party's nomination, but Rudy ranks at the top of my list. His schmuck factor just barely eclipses Romney's, and I think Hillary will have the most fun with him in the debates.

Someone said of the NY Senate race that if it was about Rootie then Hillary would win and if it was about Hillary then Rootie would win. We missed a good brawl when Rootie dropped out.

Yeah, but we were treated to a total landslide for Hillary, which surprised me.

I thought with all the very red upstate, Rudy's stand-in would at least benefit from from Hil's supposed "negatives"

Maybe those "negatives" are largely a myth afterall.

He's not only pro-choice, he's pro-gun control. He filed suit against gun makers in 2000. It seems the value voter is willing to drop every belief they claim to have for the glory of a "win". Spun stupid or just plain hypocrites?

Jane, it's moot anyway.

It doesn't matter how well received Guiliani may be at Liberty, in the end the heavy-hitters among Evangelicals have already given a firm thumbs down. And regardless of how rosy a picture the weekly standard chooses to paint, it ain't gonna happen.

No matter how cloddish Thompsons campaigning remains, look for STRONG support to be coming out of the woodwork. Remember, you are talking about people whose roots run DEEP into the GOP and influence millions, both in terms of dollars and people who actually vote instead of just talking about it. The Democrats underestimate Thompson at their peril.

the above picture of rudy makes me believe he is about to give someone a rectal examination, or a self administered one.

Even if Rootie gets endorsed by the American Ayathollahs I don't believe the Rapture Freaks will vote for him and I don't believe the Repub Honchos will allow him the nomination. Evangelicals won't vote Democrat, but they will stay home on election day or not cast a vote for POTUS. The Repubs dare not risk it.

yeh, rudy ranks right up there with notable politicians. it would be hard not to mistake him for jfk, fdr, churchill or lincoln.

just another example of a politician talking without thinking ---- if he thinks at all ---- the man just reacts ---- his world is in his mind ---- no room for anyone else ---- a child in a mans body ---- beware !!! there are a lot of people that will fall for the hype ---- example = 8yrs. of bush ---- stay focused !!!!
