I Like ItI Don’t Like It

As Congress considers a series of bills that would drastically alter the course of the Iraq war, one prominent Republican senator will be focusing his efforts on condemning a newspaper advertisement.

The Huffington Post has learned that Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX, will introduce a sense of the Senate resolution Thursday criticizing MoveOn.org's recent advertisement in the New York Times. The ad called into question the credibility of Lt. General David Petraeus, suggesting the pseudonym "Betray Us."

Cornyn's amendment proclaims that the general "deserves the full support of the Senate." The MoveOn advertisement, Cornyn's legislation states, not only "impugns the honor and integrity of General Petraeus," but "all the members of the United State Armed forces."

Perhaps in hopes of gaining support for his amendment, Cornyn's measure would also "reaffirm support for all the men and women of the United States Armed Forces."

Cornyn's bill comes on the heels of a GOP filibuster of an amendment, put forth by Sen. Jim Webb, D-VA, requiring that troops be given the same amount of time at home as they spend deployed abroad. A call to Cornyn's office to determine whether a vote against his measure would be regarded as a vote against the troops went unanswered.

Read the text of the amendment here.

When will someone have the courage to introduce legislation to roll back all tax cuts passed since December, 2000, until (and if) the United States completely vacates Iraq AND Afghanistan? The expenses continue to be added to the nation's "credit card", based upon some deluded hope that somehow we will be better able to pay the costs at some future, more prosperous time in the future.

Chimpy, if he is truly the wonderful leader that the Repukes claim him to be, should have no problem convincing ALL of our citizens to make some kind of sacrifice for the "noble cause" which has yet to be identified or articulated.

And we can avoid further exacerbating the horrible legacy that future generations will inherit from us.

Once the bills come due for the many costs that have accrued under our watch (e.g., crumbling infrastructure, crushing national debt, degraded environment, etc.), the younger generations will be understandably enraged, and rather than demonstrating concern for us in our later, declining years, will rather be looking for ice floes (of which there should be many) on which to place us.

Intergenerational warfare, anyone?

Sen. Reid, here's some more on that chicken shit, chicken hawk Cornyn,
"Senator John Cornyn FAILED TO SERVE HIS COUNTRY IN VIETNAM. This 6'4" 230 pound, war loving Texan is a genuine coward if there ever was one."

Sen Reid, Cornyn has opened himself up to Senate criticism. He has such a filthy background you could slap him six ways to Sunday.

Uh, Cornyn, disrespect for the troops (I'll never know how your corporate raider little brain worked that in) is not taking out an ad criticizing yet another "body by Bush" speech.

Disrespect for the troops are things like: not supplying them with sufficient body armour/reinforced vehicles; cutting their training time (hey, what the hell they're cannon fodder anyhow huh?), hooking up Bremer with Iraq where he had the foresight to give Blackwater a totally free pass (they're not held accountable under ANY laws) so that Blackwater's monster truck mentality, ray-ban wearing, flat top heads (how appropriate) can shove the people of Iraq around and thereby bring down more retribution onto our legitimate military forced to go there.

Now, paltry little oversights though they may seem to you, to me they're treason. Every one of them.

Go buy some stock.

Harry start with this about Sen. Cornyn.
His Houston pal, Bob Perry, was much more vicious than a play on words. Cornyn is so dirty you bring up a resolution about him everyday of the week. Fight back Harry.

"Sandusky and Navy veteran Fred Short, who also served briefly on Kerry's Swift boat, said the veterans' attack on Kerry was funded to the tune of $100,000 by a wealthy Texas Republican, Houston home builder Bob Perry, and run by "a Nixon administration trickster and a right-wing hatemonger."

Just another example of how they sure can dish it out, but can't take it. The republican party is shameless in its aim to silence everyone that disagrees with them. Free speech applies to all Americans, not just them. Repubs speech and actions tend to show a stong leaning towards dictatorship along the lines of Stalin and Hitler.

I highly recommend a basic civics class, followed by ethics. Repubs need to be reminded what country they live in and who they're supposed to represent. Dems better pay attention, too.

Puh-lease.

The GOP is sooooo threatened by a critical ad from MoveOn.org?

Cornyn thinks his rally around the flag stunt is going to have an impact on opinion about Iraq?

He thinks he can obfuscate the GOP's maltreatment of our troops?

BAAAWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

He'd better be careful. The ACLU might cancel his Larry Craig Special Hypocrites membership.
