I Like ItI Don’t Like It

As Congress considers a series of bills that would drastically alter the course of the Iraq war, one prominent Republican senator will be focusing his efforts on condemning a newspaper advertisement.

The Huffington Post has learned that Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX, will introduce a sense of the Senate resolution Thursday criticizing MoveOn.org's recent advertisement in the New York Times. The ad called into question the credibility of Lt. General David Petraeus, suggesting the pseudonym "Betray Us."

Cornyn's amendment proclaims that the general "deserves the full support of the Senate." The MoveOn advertisement, Cornyn's legislation states, not only "impugns the honor and integrity of General Petraeus," but "all the members of the United State Armed forces."

Perhaps in hopes of gaining support for his amendment, Cornyn's measure would also "reaffirm support for all the men and women of the United States Armed Forces."

Cornyn's bill comes on the heels of a GOP filibuster of an amendment, put forth by Sen. Jim Webb, D-VA, requiring that troops be given the same amount of time at home as they spend deployed abroad. A call to Cornyn's office to determine whether a vote against his measure would be regarded as a vote against the troops went unanswered.

Read the text of the amendment here.

This bunch of in-the-pocket a-holes can't pass any legislation for universal healthcare, stopping funding of the illegal invasion/occupation of Iraq, the Palestinians are hung out to dry, they're splitting up the amnesty plan and sneaking it into other bills piece meal (without so much as a mention to the people who put their sorry asses where they are today).

But wait - I see some hope. The blowhard from Texas is going to spew venom at MoveOn.Org.

Yup; that's our congress allright.

What a laugh, they're crying about Petraeus, hoping that the radical right will rally to their defence in '08.

Of course they will. All 8% of the idiots who don't know that General BetrayUs was LYING THROUGH HIS TEETH.

This reminds me of the Terry Sciavo debacle. It could really back-fire on them when the truth comes out, which it slowly is. (albeit on Al Jazeera!)

Here's a video documentary on Bush's phoney Sheik (the one that got blown-up the minute he stepped inside Iraq.)

They are just miffed that the Dems tried to get each of repugs on the record voting NO on the Webb Amendment. The Amendment basically says troops should have equal time at home as they spend overseas. This of course, makes the repugs look bad. Now they want to try to drag the dems through the mud.
This ad came out right before Gen Pet testified and it had nothing to do with the Dems. Moveon did it all by its little lonesome (with 3 million supporters). Are the repugs going to denounce every paper that carried the Abu Graib story. That is demoralizing to our troops - but all too true.
It did not call him "Betray us" outright. It was reminding the general to be truthful. "General Petraeus OR Betray us" was Moveon's way of letting him know we will be watching. As Bush is so fond of saying "Fool me once, shame on you. If you fool me once you can't get fooled again." We have been fooled by this administration all too often. Gen Pet is known as a straight shooter, but the long arm of the White House has a way of strong arming its staff. Come on! He is a general, and has to carry out the mission set forth by the White House. That is his job. His mission this time was to convince congress, and give a shroud of respectability that Bush could not attain.
The repugs are fading fast, and their senate and congressional seats are up for grabs. They know it and want to paint a pic for all those old time vet voters.

Here's a better Idea
Cornyn should get Patreaus' admiral boss who is in charge of Iraq and Afghanistan and ask him why he called Patreaus a chickenshit ass-kisser.

Only a texas dumbass would keep moveons name in front of the press - reminds us that Patreaus betrayed us.
Is there one republican with a brain? No. Is there one texan with a brain? Not since Ann Richards died.

I just sent this to this poor excuse for a Senator:

Are you kidding me Senator?

With everything that is going on right now, you are going to waste time and energy introducing a Senate resolution criticizing MoveOn? Are you serious?

It doesn't matter that they criticized a General. It doesn't matter if they criticized president bush. It's our right as free Americans to express ourselves. (swift boats, etc.)

Please reconsider.

And to that Senate Aid reading this, you're probably not going to show him this. Typical. I can tell you what you're going to do with this, you're not going to do anything.

Here's an idea, why don't I, as a Senator criticize someone exercising ARTICLE 1 of the US CONSTITUTION!

John Cornyn=Anti Free Speech

Douchebags like Cornyn suggest that, while a fence around Mexico would be completely ineffective,a fence around Texas would probably be a great idea

No one, not even our president "deserves the full support of the Senate." They must earn our respect and support.

Hey! Cornyn. We know what you're doing...
Whenever the fool in the White House is
your fool, you change the subject. In the
end, you're just another Republican from
texas.

Of all the issues facing the country.

How can we ever win the war on terror when we can't even handle it when a General is insulted?

If Cornyn going to condemn Freedom Watch for lying about the reasons for invading Iraq?

Is he going to condemn his President for his endless lies to American so Bush can line his war profiteering father's and cronies' pockets?

Is he going to condemn feeding American troops into Bush's meat grinder for petro profits?

Any "lilly-livered" Democrat who signs onto that bill should be voted out of office the next time around, and also should be "Censured" by all other Democrats ASAP!!!
