AP:

Israel's Security Cabinet declared the Gaza Strip an "enemy entity" on Wednesday in order to cut off power and fuel supplies to the coastal strip, a move likely to cloud Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's visit on a peacemaking mission.

The group of top Israeli political and defense ministers did not set a date for a cutoff. A statement from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office said Israel did not intend to provoke a humanitarian crisis.

When is Israel going to stop bullying it's neighbors and wait for the USA to show up to listen to the 'reason' they did it.

The Israeli's have squandered more chances at peace than can be counted.

It is my belief that they want to be the 'king of the hill' in the middle east. I have nothing against Israel but it just seems that they are never happy unless they are in a conflict of some sort.

Hey - MIDDLE EAST - STOP FIGHTING! THERE IS NOTHING TO GAIN FROM IT.

American who is sick of war and wiping up after everyone else!

She couldnt negotiate her way out of a paper bag. She is an empty suit and an embarrassment. Her college doesn't even want her back. She will probably do more harm than good. She sold her soul to the decider and I wonder what she got back for it. Because of people like her and the criminal administration we are the laughing stock of the world. May they rot in hell.

Why do we in the United States hear only the Israeli side of the Israel-Palestine conflict? Discover the role of the monopoly media in the excellent video below:

Look up Boobaloo's posting history and you'll see something disturbing yet sickly familiar: a pattern of obsession with "Jews" and "Zionism," even in the most obscure context. This person's a textbook anti-Semite. It's one thing to level a valid criticism at a nation's behaviour, and Israel is certainly not immune; as an Israeli, I also opposed last year's Lebanon fiasco and am quite critical of Olmert's inept leadership, as well as a continuing occupation that's leading nowhere. I and most Israelis I know WANT peace and justice, an end to the occupation of the West Bank, and a free and prosperous Palestinian state alongside Israel. I also know that there are far too many in Gaza who want us dead and cheer on the rocket launches into Sderot and wherever they can maim or kill us, and that Hamas ("democratically elected," as were the Nazis in '33) will never make peace with Israel. The situation is far more complex and the history more complicated than some of the posters here know. (Come to Israel and see for yourselves!). I appreciate the valid discussions here at HuffPo but do tire of the virulent racism that any article about Israel seems to elicit from the nutjobs in the dark basements and cellars out there.

When will the people of Israel elect an honest government?
12:34 AM on 09/20/2007
Someone at the top of the thread had suggested that all of you Israel haters get off your fat assess and go to Sderot and live there for a week.
I would also suggest that you take your fat American kids and grandkids and enroll them into that kindergarten in Sderot that got rocketed last week. Do it just for ONE week.

I wonder what you will say after that. But until you've done that - shut the fuck up.

Israel must have never had a mother who told them if they don't have something nice to say about a country then don't say anything at all.

Israel can be judgemental at times........

Did anyone seen the frightened Palestenian school children on the cover of the NY Times today. They didn't look to enemy like to me.

It is all about end times.

MORE “COLLATERAL†KILLING?

ANTI-SEMITISM IS EVIL, just as is anti-any-ethic-group. But what about ANTI-ISRAEL, based on the behavior of that nation?

We Americans need to stop playing word games. For example, if we apply Webster's definition of "TERRORISM" to the already-forgotten recent Middle East war between Israel and Hezbollah, and use OBJECTIVE MEASUREMENTS, then Israel and not Hezbollah was the biggest terrorist in this tragedy, with 50 to 1 non-combatant deaths for Lebanon vs. Israel (2/3 of Israeli dead were soldiers), and an even greater disparity in terms of infrastructure and the long-term suffering of people. Israel could have fought Hezbollah up close and personal, but instead involved a million innocent Lebanonese in an asymmetrical war using United States-supplied warplanes and smart bombs. The truth of any terror lies in its consequences.

Of course, the word terrorism is reserved for our enemies, and not part of our terms of endearment with Israel. However, before we consign what happened to Lebanon and its people to "collateral damage" and it completely fades from our short attention span, perhaps we can find a more appropriate term to describe ravaged Lebanon, such as "collateral devastation." As the pendulum of action and reaction/cause and effect swings our way, we won't just sit and wonder why these terrible terrorists hate us and want to kill us (they do 9-11, we do Lebanon, and so on).

We human beings think and rationalize in words. For this reason, words decide issues. Many people use words imprecisely or for advantage, and not for truth. The prime example here, anti-Semitism and anti-Israel are not the same thing. If they were the same, then the Israeli government would be infallible. Israeli tough-guy terror (seen often, even on American TV) is about half the reason the United States is hated in the Middle East. Unfortunately, we have to go along too because no one can speak the truth of words and reality. Our one-sided policy in the Middle East is a disaster.

Correct me, if I'm wrong, but isn't that whole thing financed by US tax dollars? Doesn't that make Americans, the citizens of a Democracy, responsible?
06:45 PM on 09/19/2007
Exactly!

USA taxpayers give billions to Israel.

Israel gives hundreds of millions to AIPAC.

AIPAC gives USA Senators and Congressmen millions.

then the process repeats.

HermioneGranger--Sure, I'll correct you. The USA is not a democracy. Elections are controlled by the corporate monopoly media, so-called voting irregularities, and Diebold. We don't control the behavior of Bush, Dick and the Pentagon.

Wow BuyRubles, you've really gotten to them.

I love it!

I love to see it!!

It is pathetic to read how mental pygmies like Rubles and others make pompous pronouncement about entire countries "rights to exist." How naive....
03:51 PM on 09/19/2007
This PRECISELY of such rabid Muslim opinions which existed WAY before Israel ever came to existence that Israel needs a strong army. I don't support all Israeli policies and I think, they like most Middle Eastern countries often "do things before thinking it through. I do recognize that Israel as a tiny country, with tiny population needs to need to be aggressive in such a murderous neighborhood as ME. Arabs only understand brute strength. this facts has been understood by both Arabs and Non-Arabs for a thousand of years. We in the West project our own reason-based sensibilities on Arabs. But this a gross folly.Arabs are govern by tribal loyalties, saving face and power. A concept of forgiveness simply does not exist in Arabic cultures.
03:58 PM on 09/19/2007
In Middle East the weak die, the strong survive.

Perfect example: Lebanon. As a weak country every vulture is there: Iran, Syria and Israel pulling a poor country every which way.

Kuwait was almost eaten up by Iraq, if not for U.S.

Palestinian PLO tried to take over Jordan until they were killed en masse by king's forces.

Egyptians tried to annex Gaza until Israel kicked their assess out.

The list is long.

"Arabs only understand brute strength. this facts has been understood by both Arabs and Non-Arabs for a thousand of years."

Well, be prepared for an opposing force of brute strength.

Awwww, I seem to have started BuyRubles salivating again. Poor thing. But I owe you and Boobaloo my gratitude; your psychotic rantings about this fantasaical "Zionism" that you hate so much, your bizarre allegations against my country, your masturbating over the presumed imminent demise of my country, have made me reflect on just how utterly inane and useless you are, and how I'd much more enjoy going out for a walk on the beach right now and enjoy some ice cream. Good night, all. Israel is alive and well and we're not going away anytime soon.

Have fun with your night stick, ya sick bugger. Unfortunately for your country it becomes more of right wing military state with every passing day. Soon it will be recognized everywhere for the pariah state which it is. Israel, heirs of the Nazis. You, your stick, a little Iraqi crude for lube and a Stalag story, pleasant dreams to you.
