Associated Press:

The Senate blocked legislation Wednesday that would have regulated the amount of time troops spent in combat, a blow for Democrats struggling to challenge President Bush's Iraq policies.

The 56-44 vote was four votes short of reaching the 60 needed to cut off debate. It was the second time in as many months that the bill, sponsored by Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., was sidetracked. In July, a similar measure fell four votes short of advancing.

The republicans and the rest of the neo-cons are traitors. A great start, would be to hold consistant and massive protests at as many MSM headquarters as possible.

The mainstream media, hold all the cards. Expose them by getting directly in their freaking faces. We need to get nasty.

What is the purpose of protesting in DC, in protest free zones. No one is listening and no one is reporting.

There are a lot of ways to make the the MSM do their jobs. If they are not a free press. They should be out of business. Use your imagination.

Kudos to the Mainers - Collins and Snow as well as fellow New Englanders Sununu and Sanders. Of course Hagel and Smith round out the Republicans with a conscience who actually give a damn about our brothers and sisters who are giving their precious lives and limbs every minute of every day they are over in that God Forsaken hell-hole that is Iraq.

Special notice should be given to those spineless, duplicitous, demented agents of Bush War Machine Lieberman, Lugar, Voinovitch, Specter and Warner.

And of course don't forget Larry Craig, Jim Vitter, and Ted Stevens, the three stooges who took time off from defending themselves in their scandalous endeavors to come in for some Senatorial face time and help toss the last shovel or two of dirt on the Webb amendment.

The names of the Americans who will die as a result of their votes should be indelibly burned into the fabric of their souls - if they still have souls.

If Democrats had any balls at all, they'd let the Republicans filibuster against Webb's bill and waste the country's time with Cornyn's stupid piece of "shit 'o the Senate" resolution about MoveOn.org's ad.

Dems need to nut up and show these Repub pigs for what they are. They're shameless. Fuck 'em.

"Repigs are Purposely playing games until after their Primaries in Febuary"

BINGO! Party BEFORE people!

Bush has already used his VETO power, risking the lives of troops, BECAUSE he didn't get his way! Whether Bush THROWS TANTRUMS or TRIUMPHS, what's TRAGICALLY OBVIOUS NOW, is that TROOPS WILL DIE!!!

So, DEMOCRATS, if at first you don't succeed, TRY, TRY AGAIN...AND AGAIN...AND AGAIN...What have you got to lose...but MORE LIVES!!!

No more BLOOD MONEY! Do NOT allow him to PASS THE BUCK!

Keep forcing BABY BUSH to THROW his TANTRUMS... TILL November 2008!!!

Stay safe, healthy and happy,
Love, Loretta

I think that every repub who voted against this should suit up in uniform and get their ass in combat. They disgust me.

Those weak kneed opponents of the Bushwars might moan and call this a great loss indicative of the "fact" that they can't win. But it is not a loss. It puts on record who wants what. America will soon have the chance to decide if it wants to keep these warloving Chickens.
Before that the same votes repeated often enough can stop Bush, by denying him any funds. And the same vote on a simple bill to prohibit him from any further aggression without approval would force him to veto and hear the people's uproar. The Republicans would then know that to stick with Bush would be suicide. The veto would be overridden.
A bill of impeachment should pass. While conviction in the Senate is doubtful, forcing the creep to defend against charges of lying to start an illegal war could block him from doing the same with Iran.
One must see where victory is, and stop bending over offering ....

Make them vote against it over and over again. Keep bringing the bill up. Not only will it show where they stand. It will show they voted against the troops over and over again.

I agree, Binx1011, bring these bills up again and again and again, attach then to every bill that comes up, refuse to bring spending bills to the floor if they do not continue a date certain.

Make Republicans defend their votes, over and over and over. This is what the American people want, contact your legislators, let them know in no uncertain terms where you stand and remind, with each e mail, letter, phone call, you are a registered voter and you are watching C Span, Reading the Huffington Post and you are informed and you vote.

CT are you listening to the suggestions?

medz,

I couldn't agree with you more, the GOP is killing our troops.

I may have a different reason, but I agree with your conclusion.

I think the GOP won't allow the rich kids to go over there. They'll loose the remaining support for the war, jmho.

If the Democrats do not go on the offensive with this, than there need to be some recalls started in all 50 states.

The GOP just showed us that they want the military to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan forever. FOREVER.

Dems continue to bite at the ankles. They cannot stop the war straight up, and these other tatics continue to make them look ineffective. Correction: they are ineffective.

Just when I thought they couldn't be any more reprehensible the Republicans find a new low. I hope this shuts up those who still think that wanting to bring the troops home is not supporting them. The Repubs have shown that they don't give a damn about the troops. As bad as the dems are the repubs are still a million times worse. I hope America remembers this come Nov. 2008.

KARL
ROVE
WAS
SUCCESSFUL:
DEMOCRATS
HAVE
BEEN
REDUCED
TO
NOTHING
MORE
THAN
"SIMPERING CYPHERS"
ALL
TALK,
NO
ACTION....

IRONICALLY, THAT'S HOW THE DEMOCRATS COULD CUT BUSH AND CHENEY'S BALLS OFF:

SIMPLY TAKE NO ACTION ON BUSH'S REQUEST FOR MORE $$$ FOR HIS IRAQ DEBACLE. AND DON'T APPROVE AN INCREASE IN THE FEDERAL DEBT LIMIT.

BUT THE DEMOCRATS ARE MORE WORRIED ABOUT BEING POLITICALLY CORRECT AND POSITIONING THEMSELVES FOR 2008 THAN IN DOING WHAT THE COUNTRY PUT THM IN POWER TO DO: GET OUR KIDS OUT OF IRAQ.

IF THAT MEANS DE-FUNDING THE WAR, THEN SO BE IT! SUPPORTING THE TROOPS MEANS BRINGING THEM HOME - NOW!

OR MAYBE THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS AGREE WITH CHENEY, THAT GI BLOOD IN IRAQ IS THE PRICE WE PAY FOR CHEAP GAS AT THE PUMP FOR OUR HUMMERS HERE.

A NATIONAL DISGRACE, IF YOU ASK ME...
