AP:

Nasdaq Stock Market Inc. and Borse Dubai have reached a deal under which Nasdaq will take over Nordic bourse operator OMX AB, while Borse Dubai acquires just under 20 percent of Nasdaq and 28 percent of the London stock exchange.

The deal announced Thursday would resolve a takeover battle between Nasdaq and Borse Dubai for Stockholm-based OMX, but could face scrutiny in the United States, where a Dubai-owned company's plan to manage some U.S. ports previously raised an uproar.

Borse Dubai will go ahead with its $4 billion cash bid for OMX, but when that transaction is completed it will sell all shares in the Stockholm-based company to Nasdaq.

Actually I was in Dubai in July and as I looked at the thousands of empty condos and hundreds of empty office buidings what went through my mind is if US companies ever felt to much pressure on them in the US(taxes, regulations) this is where they would head to. Now i'm seeing a connection. I am also considering a move myself. A great place.

Not to seem that I'm discriminating against Dubai, but why in the world do we keep selling our crown jewels.

Should we allow the transaction sale between Nasdaq & Borse Dubai to go through? -------> http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=557

I agree. We could be talking about Japan or Australia or Canada or anyone else for that matter, I still wouldn't like the idea of a foreign government holding such a big chunk of the Nasdaq. That Dubai is not a democracy and is letting their working class fall behind makes the deal less savory.
