Hillary Calls Cheney "Darth Vader"

"Vice President Cheney came up to see the Republicans yesterday. You can always tell when the Republicans are getting restless, because the Vice President's motorcade pulls into the Capitol, and Darth Vader emerges," Hillary Clinton said just now at a $100-a-head fundraiser at Town Hall near New York's Times Square, referring to Cheney's efforts shore up Republican congressional support for the Iraq war.

"I'm not invited to their meetings and I don't know what he says or does," she said, in an informal conversation on stage with former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack and retired General Wesley Clark. "But all the brave talk about bringing our troops home, and setting deadlines, and getting out by a certain date just dissipated."

Cheney is Darth Vader? Is Hillary a Vaderette? Let's compare their records.

After all, what has Cheney done? Sold off the government to wealthy corporations and taken enormous "benefits" for himself and his friends. Enriched himself on the backs of the working people of this country. Went on TV and told the public that we are facing mushroom clouds, there is no question Saddam was behind 9/11. And now he wants to invade Iran.

Exactly how does Hillary distinguished herself? This sounds to me like a good description of her own brief career in the Senate and her campaign proposals for the future.

Hillary supports turning the government over to corporate control. Witness her promises to big donors that she will put them together with the insiders in D.C. so they can privately bribe these people to get what they want. Even better than the Lincoln Bedroom scam. She supported the war in Iraq unconditionally, and without ever disavowing that war she now stradles the fence so that no one knows if she is still pro-war (which seems to be the case with her plans to leave troops in Iraq) or whether she is anti-war (which seems to be the case with her criticism of Bush).

A lady for all seasons, making lots of noise with sound and fury signifying absolutely nothing.
