Hillary Calls Cheney "Darth Vader"

"Vice President Cheney came up to see the Republicans yesterday. You can always tell when the Republicans are getting restless, because the Vice President's motorcade pulls into the Capitol, and Darth Vader emerges," Hillary Clinton said just now at a $100-a-head fundraiser at Town Hall near New York's Times Square, referring to Cheney's efforts shore up Republican congressional support for the Iraq war.

"I'm not invited to their meetings and I don't know what he says or does," she said, in an informal conversation on stage with former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack and retired General Wesley Clark. "But all the brave talk about bringing our troops home, and setting deadlines, and getting out by a certain date just dissipated."

It's too flattering. There's something too macho about Darth Vader that I would want to see the name applied to Cheney. Cheney, if you notice, is more of an evil worm who hides in the background while eating away at the state.

But when it came time to vote -- on the tax cuts, on the war that is bankrupting us financially and politically, and on the Patriot Act -- how did Senator Clinton vote? She sided with Darth.

In addition to her bad votes which you point out, my husband and I were just talking about her votes in the Senate yesterday. She voted right on habeus corpus and the Webb amendment, but she justs votes, doesn't speak out, doesn't, in other words, lead, and here she wants to be the leader of the whole country. I would have thought that, being on the Armed Services Committee, she would have supported Jim Webb more, for example, twisted the arm of that old bastard Lieberman, who is a Clinton friend and whom the Clintons supported in the 2006 election, into voting with the Democrats.

If she wanted to show us that she really meant what she claims to feel now, she would lead. She would elbow Harry Reid aside and organize the refusal to send Bush a budget for another round of Cowboys and Muslims.

Cheney has these nice little Tuesday lunches on the Hill for the faithful or faithless GOP Senators. He calls this "attitude adjustment" or simply vote rigging. This is when he pulls out the real dirt and takes of the Darth Vader gloves. Some, like Senator Craig, call it potty training.

And regarding socialism...America is nowhere near a socialist country.

Hillary called it exactly right. She was using a visual analogy to describe the kind of fear and intimidation Cheney weilds on the Hill. She used a modern day mythological style figure.

Would these people still have blown a gasket if she called him a character first found in mythology?

And what are these people doing, saying she might as well have called him Hitler. They don't get it and I suppose that's the crux of the problem....those children were left behind.

Now she says that because the polls have swung that way- back in '03 she was still up his and bush's ass. If he's Darth Vadar than she's MS.Vadar. She's a warmonger whose in the pocket of every war profiteer and like her husband never met a corporation she could say "no" to.

Hillary is a better Darth Vader because there is more "goodness" in her. She still wants to give big profits to insurers in the new Hillary Care she proposes. Meanwhile, she has Domininion meetings with her prayer group - think of it as evangelical lite.

While I agree wtih Hillary's characterization of Cheney, based on what I know of Hillary's past performance, I would not trust her either, to be the president of the US. I think she would not hesitate to bomb countries, just like her husband. In short, like GWBush and DCheney, I think she talks a great talk about wanting ot help children at one level but at another level I think she wouldn't hesitate to unleash an unnecesary war just for politcal reason.
