Congress Gets Better Approval Ratings From Republicans Than Dems

Now this is curious. In the latest Gallup poll, more Republicans approve of the job Congress is doing than there are Democrats who approve. According to the poll, 37% of Republicans approve of Congress' performance, compared to 23% of Democrats and 14% of independents, with an overall rating of 24% approval and 71% disapproval.

This is odd, of course, considering that both houses have Democratic majorities. But on second thought, the current Congress has passed President Bush's funding requests for Iraq, passed his FISA bill, and has given the White House exactly what it wanted on a host of other issues. So what do Republicans really have to complain about?

Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of congress; but I repeat myself.

It's very simple. The republican supporter of the republican side of Congress want them to block everything the Democrats put forward. They have a negative agenda for Congress. On the other hand, we Democrats have a positive agenda as well as a limited negative agenda for Congreass. We want our Democratic Members of Congress to undo what this criminal administration has done over the last 6+ years. This is our positive agenda. Our negative agenda is to get our Members of Congress to defund this criminal administration criminal war in the "Middle East". They are going to ask for over $200 BILLION ($200,000,000,000.00) for this next year going into the presidential election in "08. All this is NOT counted in or budget, so its not listed in the budget deficiet of the United States. The republican members of the Senate have blocked almost 80 bills that the House had passed.

Vote for another $200 BILLION? And give billions in corporate and billionaires welfare. We have never had a war and NOT raised taxes in general or a special hostiities only surtax.

So much to say - no space to say it.

As a Democrat, I am profoundly disappointed in the leadership of the Democratic Congress and I live in the Speaker's district. As much as I am proud of Nancy, I am also disheartened by her inability to do the people's business. Still I do find solace that there are Democrats in the House willing to lead: Henry Waxman, Dennis Kucinich, John Conyers, John Murtha, Barbara Lee, Maxine Waters and Jan Schlotskwy (sp.?). Impeachment is "off the table" and it shouldn't be. What is the standard for impeachment if this Administration isn't impeachable?

The only difference between Democrats and Republicans is who gets to vote themselves the bigger box of Government Doughnuts...

It's all bad for the GOP in the long run.

The American people are angry at the GOP for the war and corruption. They are angry at the Dems for not being able to stop the GOP.

I'm sure the GOP base is happy they can poke the Dem majority in the eye with the 60 vote cloture requirement and 67 vote veto override but that will not get them votes in o8.

Regardless of what the Dems have done to us and themselves, the Repubs are a cancer, and must be treated as such, THEY brought the storm upon us. The Dems failed to protect us from them.

EITHER WAY -

NO MORE REPUBLICANS!
WAY LESS DEMOCRATS!
AL GORE? COULD BE.
INDIES? WE DON'T KNOW THAT THEY CAN'T LEAD US WELL.
GREEN? THE SAME.

Greedy and evil people don't want more than this crippled "Two Party" system. But that's because they're greedy and evil. Anyone else would welcome the change.

Well isn't this a predictably pathetic result.

When the fascists had a majority, they got points for shredding the Constitution.

Now that the populists HAVE a majority, the fascists still have last laugh, for successfully maneuvering to thwart the will of the American people, and the populists are beside themselves that the overwhelming mandate to CHANGE COURSE has been an utter bust.

And for that, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid have a lot of soul-searching, dare I say ATONEMENT, to do.

*** TROOPS OUT, or BUSH OUT ***

It's just that simple.

Dems in the Senate figure out a PLAN, or the FLUSH in 08 of incumbants, won't just be for Repigs.

I have to agree with the majority of posters on this thread. Naturally, the Repubs would be thrilled with this do-nothing Congress. We all wasted our time and efforts voting for "change." Let's hope our next set of votes won't be squandered by those we choose to elect.

I also think contributions that would ordinarily have gone to Democrats be sent to MoveOn.org since they are truly the voice of the Democratic base, not those wusses in Washington.

If they were truly the voice of the democratic base 20 Democratic Senators would not have supported a sense of the Senate resolution condemning them.

Of course Republicans love this Congress.
This Congress does all the bidding for the Repubs -- it accomplishes their goals better than they do themselves. It is their water boy.
It starts to wet its pants (or straight-up start to cry like Nancy Pelosi does) whenever the Republicans get upset about anything. This Democratic Congress could care less about its base. I say target all 22 of the anti MoveOn voters in the next election and throw the bums out of office before they destroy all of us, period!

FAUX snooze reported ALL DAY that the dems had been forced to fold when trying to stand up to the preznutz on Iraq.

It's likely the dems WILL decide the 'issue' (occupation for oil and mass murder) needs to be their hatrack for the next election, and it seems they're totally unconcerned with the lives being lost every day in the meantime.

I take credit for Conrad and Dorgan. Glad to see they are reading my emails.
