Study: Oprah's Obama Endorsement Means Little To Voters

The endorsement of stars like Oprah Winfrey, Jon Stewart or even Tiger Woods would not translate to any more votes and -- somewhat curiously in the case of Stewart, Woods and several others -- could actually hurt their chances.

That's according to a telephone survey of more than 1,000 people by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.

Respondents said Oprah's endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) -- she has stumped and raised funds for him -- will have essentially no effect on getting their vote, but they still think it could help his run for the White House.

Am I missing something? Oprah is one vote. Just like you and me. Why would anyone put extra emphasis on what she says versus what you or I think? Even Gayle, Oprah's lesbian lover has her own vote. And I would assume that Stedman, Oprah's beard has a vote too.

It escapes me why anyone would give a care what Winfrey thinks about anything. Hell, from what I can see, the only reason the women makes recommendation is because she's paid to do it. Presumably, the obsession with thinking celebrities have something worthwhile to offer must have something to do with their being celebrities (as if notoriety gives one prescience or erudition) or wealth (many haven't done anything to earn it). Perhaps if Winfrey accomplished something worthwhile with her talents and money I might pay attention to her but like so many other celebrities, she seems only concerned with making even more money as if she could possibly spend what she already has.
