I Like ItI Don’t Like It

2007-09-22-Castrolives.JPGRumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated: Fidel Castro appeared on Cuban television Friday afternoon, alive and well — despite repeated claims that he was muerto made by blogger Perez Hilton.

Hilton, as you may recall, swore up and down that Castro was, in fact dead — something he was ABSOLUTELY SURE ABOUT thanks to his super-secret high-level "exclusive" and "impeccable" intelligence sources — you know, the ones that no other news organization had.

Castro has not been seen live for fourteen months and was last televised back in June. However, this video was clearly shot yesterday because, as reported by the Chicago Tribune, "Castro noted that the euro was trading at $1.41 and that the price of petroleum is $84 a barrel, proof that the interview was recorded earlier Friday." Castro also held up a copy of a number of books, including the just-released book by former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, "The Age of Turbulence" from which he read aloud. Upshot: Yep, he's alive!

Even so, today Hilton stubbornly stood by his story:

We've seen him wearing that outfit soooo many times. We're not going to believe he's still alive until he takes a nice stroll through Havana. Live. Not in some pre-taped video. And only if he's accompanied by an independent news organization, like the Associated Press.

Oh, sure, now he's picky about where he gets his news.

2007-09-22-CastrolovesAlanGreenspansales.jpgUpdate, and photo evidence: We just received this AP photo of Castro holding Greenspan's book, forwarded by HuffPo reporter Max Follmer. So! We shall see what Perez has to say about that. But also, look closer: There's a 30% off sticker on the cover. Castro loves sales! Capitalist sales! Viva la Cuba libre — and other things for libre, too! This may be the best photo of Castro taken ever. We can't wait to see what Perez Hilton draws on it.

No, Bush putting an embargo on those "Communist" Chinese that are stealing all our well paid American jobs would be good news for liberals.

You wacky little conservative imbecile you.

Bush is not a conservative, he is a social conservative. There is a HUGE difference.

I don't support half of his decisions. The fact that you assume I do is only proof that your brainwashing was a success.

I personally believe that the US should only trade with other westernized nations. i.e. not trading with communists, dictatorships, or hostile nations. No middle eastern oil, no chinese manufacturing, etc.

What's interesting is how many liberals are perfectly happy with communist ideals..... ideals that stand directly against personal liberty. That's why I stand against modern liberals, they are willing to give away personal liberty in favor of satisfying their social conscience. I know, I know, that's too much for you to process.

So why didn't you criticize Clinton? He pushed and signed all those one-sided treaties with China?

Outside the USA, Castro is loved by many millions. He's probably even esteemed in Europe, where the anti-communist propaganda isn't as strident.

Capitalism is the national religion in the USA. That's why some fools hate Castro to a degree that is really absurd. The man is 81 years old. He's not going to sneak into your house and hide under your bed. Give it a rest.

If you're a major shareholder in a global corporation, well, I suppose it makes sense for you to dislike Castro. He did devote his life to fighting the system you love so much. As for the me-too haters, you're acting silly. Castro is too old to lead another revolution.

Johny good question for fantasy land

There are not daily asylum seekers from cuba. A few a year does not equal daily.

Also another good question is why have so many americans left america to become expatriots??? While getting citizenship in canada and europe??? since bush came to power.

Now that would be something to look into.

Ah, but not only do we let them go, we encourage it!

But, sadly, I doubt it's as many as you think and I wish.

Remember, the country does have exit doors in the front and rear. You go out the rear.

Castro is a murderous dictator. I know you all know this. If Cuba was such a communist utopia people would not to this day risk their lives to get out of there.

I have personally fished those poor people out of the water, off Florida.

They will try and make the journey in inner-tubes lashed together.

When I see Americans trying to make that kind of trip to Cuba, maybe I'll start to buy the hype that the Hollywood crowd is selling.

Now how about you visit Cuba. Then talk. After that go and live in a ghetto. Or maybe Jena. I remember when Americans were pouring out of America. Oh - what a little detail that is. Bush would remember though. He stayed and served his country in the National Guard. Unfortunately his records seem to be missing which is very odd but then odd things do happen if you are aBush. You can be a crook and live free and easy snorting coke and getting drunk. I guess America is free for some but not all. And if you think the Cubans in Florida are a gift to America then just remember- Castro opened the jails and the insane asylums and got rid of a lot of trouble by sending it to Cuba.

ceasenake--Yeah, we all know something you just made up. Right, you personally fished people out of the water. Maybe I'd believe you if I'd ever seen you show any compassion in any of your previous posts. Reichwingers don't rescue people from drowning. Watching them go under is almost as fun for a fascist as waterboarding.

"Reichwingers don't rescue people from drowning. "

Oh, don't be silly, and don't make such idiotic generalizations. One of my very conservative neighbors pulled a Mexican family with six kids out of a submerged car. He got a medal from the mayor for saving those eight people.

Quick, before he kicks, somebody ask him why so many people are risking their lives daily to escape the paradise that is Cuba.

It's that great health care, isn't it?

AMERICA

Financed and backed Castro's revolution!!!!! Read a History book.

He became our enemy when he refused to allow mob controlled casinos and such in cuba as well as not allowing any american sweatshops to open for buisness exploiting his people.

We dumped him and forced him to seek an alliance with the soviets.

The Mafia Cubans in America crowd ALWAYS have El Fidel dead, going on almost 50 years now. The MCIA is prone to inveterate wishful thinking and creting false propaganda when it comes to the subject of Castro and socialist government that is firmly established in Cuba. ZNo serious chance of going back to 1955.

More than two-thirds of Cubans have a part-African heritage (i.e. their skin is somewhat darker than the pink we use to call 'white')

Castro is immensely popular among them, because they sincerely believe that Cuba is the first country in the world that extinguished racism.

As long as they have reason to believe that they are treated better in socialist Cuba than in, let's say, the Home Of The Free, Cuba will stay socialist.

And that's bueno with me.

Allan Greenspan is a creepy looking guy maybe, but no matter what end of the political spectrum you consider home, you gotta admire his intellect. The man is no dummy.

I have no problem believing Castro reads Greenspan, hell if I had more of an interest in Economics I'd read Greenspan for sure.

Greenspan is like George Tenet, both didn't have the balls to criticise Bush and the GOP agenda when they could do that. Now that they are out, are trying to make money off of you, and whine like babies. I have zero respect for such cowards. Greenspan said once in 2003 that we were headed into bankruptcy, then you never heard a peep again....

Haiti is another example of US hate.

This started after the slave uprising in the eighteen hundreds and
persist even to today.

Ever wonder why an island could have two different economic sides
one successful and one a third world.

Without Castro, Cuba would probably be a thriving tourist mecca just like the Bahamas and Puerto Rico.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:36 AM on 09/23/2007

It has a lot of tourists but it is not the horror story of Bahamas which was ruined after Castro took over Cuba and the trash and criminals took over Bahamas. So visit Cuba now while it is still a great place.

Cuba already draws large numbers of tourists from Canada and western Europe. Of course, few Americans are allowed to travel there because their government has long pandered to the gusanos in Miami who long for the good old days when Cuba was the whorehouse of the Americas.

What few realize is that AMERICA financed and backed Castro's little coup in the beggining.

We turned against him when he said no to mob backed casinos and such in Cuba as well as no restrictions on whatever american sweatshop wanted to set up base there.

Cuba ASKED (petitioned Congress) at least twice to become a State! However, the white supremist elitists did not, like today with Haiti,Marianna islands,Puerto Rico, want a Black/Unwhite population country to become a state, and the Rich Northern Whites wanted Hawaii more also sugar cane, because they were already being slaughtered, by us. So, yes even if Castro would not have gone National Communist, Our Fascist Elitists would be treating Cuba like we do all other "subhuman" populated nations. The reason we bought Liberia in Africa was after the Emancipation proclomation the Rich Whites thought the Negros would like (or could be enticed)to be shipped back to Africa, you know 40 mesquitos, and a free one way ticket back to the jungle. Castro would have been replaced, like we did in all the other Banana republics, way before now anyway, once the Mob had their Casinos and Drugs flowing at full capacity with the U.S. Military to protect them, like they do today in America, with Our President and Congress.
