The 21-year-old Jordanian immigrant was in shackles when he was brought into the courtroom of Judge Michael B. Mukasey in Federal District Court in Manhattan.

It was Oct. 2, 2001, and the prisoner, Osama Awadallah, then a college student in San Diego with no criminal record, was one of dozens of Arab men detained around the country in the days after the Sept. 11 attacks as potential witnesses in the terrorism investigation.

The AG Nominee belongs in Prison... not heading the Department of Injustice.

Disgusting Human Being... perfect for Bush.

Obviously, he's another Bush yes-man that will see only what he wants to see--and curiously edit out what doesn't fit the Bush agenda.

If DickNBush want him as AG, Mukasey must be the only person in the world with lower ethics, less honesty, a lower IQ and less respect for the law than Gonzo. (Nifong, apparently, wasn't available due to other commitments - like jail.) Mukasey's links to No-Family-Values Giuliani show that he also has no principles and extremely bad judgment. All this would make him the perfect choice to assist the WORST PRESIDENT EVER in the further destruction of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the rule of law.

It's easy to be cruel if you're a self-righteous ChristoFascist.
Much easier than trying to follow the teachings of a prophet.

Part of religions appeal is to dehumanize people with different beliefs so you can treat them less well then those in your particular sect/cult.

he looks fine to me," said Judge Mukasey

STUPID Mo Fo, he REALLY should be forced to read Amnesty International dossiers, of all the TORTURE which leaves NO VISABLE MARKS, one of the reason they use waterboarding,,,,no evidence.

this comment was taken out of context... Mucousy didn't mean "fine" as in "ok," but "fine" as in "Oh, girl, Brad Pitt is fine!!"

I warned you before and I warn you again, senators.

Mukasey is another John Roberts: He appears likeable and forthcomming, but he is a Neo Con simpathizer-a tool. If confirmed, he will enter the pool of administration criminality and suddenly lose his legal and ethical acumen. It has been learned that in the face of Bush/Cheney criminality, Mukasey would refuse to appoint a special prosecutor. That would be an act of criminal negligence.

Nice start.

That would make him the enemy-an enemy of the Constitution and our country of no less virulence than Gonzo.

I stand ready to work unreservedly to ferret out right leaning Dems like they were plague-bearing rats. Don't even think about accepting the nominee, Michael Mukasey, senators. We are far better off without an AG if that AG intends to stare directly at the face of the subversive Bushists and fails to prosecute.

Have you seen where they let these muslims just fly around the country like they own it?

It's the liberals who let them do this.

We need to crack down on all of the thousands of Allah loving terrorists soon or else we'll all be wearing sandals and robes with no undies. Just think how sales of razor blades will plummet.

The terrorists are everywhere! Their in our colleges and they practically have a monopoly on the convenience food store industry!

Do you have any idea how many mosques there are in the United States? It's sobering my friends. No conservative would ever approve of this selling out to the Muslim threat.

It's gotten so dangerous here. Everywhere you look there's a terrorist (read: muslim) either plotting or carrying out his dasterdly terrorist acts. Oh my God what are we going to do? Oh my God help us!

Do I sound panicked? Well I am. The threat is so grave. So grave. How much longer can we last as a nation with this scourge upon us?

Even though Mr. Awadallah was not charged at the time with any crime and had friends and family in San Diego who would vouch that he had no terrorist ties, Judge Mukasey ordered that he be held indefinitely. A prison medical examination later identified the bruises across his body.

Yeah just hold him indefinitely. That makes you tough on terror. Oh and also don't forget to beat him good. Fuck the little terrorist. He's Muslim. That's enough of a crime.

If he wasn't doing anything wrong he never would have been arrested and not charged with any crime.

These scumbag Muslims think they can get away with anything. It's outrageous. I bet this Islamo-facist secretly wishes good God fearing Americans (white ones) would be killed by Allah.

Anybody who thinks different is a muslim loving pussy Democrat liberal. They all want terrorists to take over and make us wear burqas.

Bush is consistently saying that the Democrats in congress keep passing bills they know he'll veto. Let's get the word out that Bush keeps sending Congress applicants for high office who they cannot in good conscience confirm.

What difference does it make if this guy gets to be AG or not? I mean really; what difference? What is the Congress going to do about any of this Administrations transgressions? What has it done to date? What about the subpoenas that are routinely ignored? The blatant destruction of public documents and "loss" of emails, etc. Our government officials have become immune to our justice system and are in fact above the law. Bush's cronies ignore subpoenas without recourse. They refuse to testify or take "take the fifth" or invoke "Executive privilege" at every turn. And the press supports these actions and in some cases heralds them. There have been no indictments, no charges, nothing but empty rhetoric and emptier threats by this Congress. The Republicans in the Senate are pros at running interference for Bush and company. The Democrats scamper to and fro in fear of Bush, the Republican noise machine and how they may appear "unpatriotic" in the upcoming elections by a stupid and feckless American electorate. The Democrats do nothing because America's citizens do nothing, demand nothing, are willing to sacrifice nothing to save the Republic. It is the same old same old, business as usual. What's on tv tonight?
