Bush To Skip U.N. Talks On Global Warming

First Posted: 03/28/08 03:45 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 01:15 PM ET

New York Times:

Dozens of world leaders are to gather at the United Nations on Monday for a full agenda of talks on how to fight global warming, and President Bush is skipping all the day's events but the dinner.

His focus instead is on his own gathering of leaders in Washington later this week, a meeting with the same stated goal, a reduction in the emissions blamed for climate change, but a fundamentally different idea of how to achieve it.

Mr. Bush's aides say that the parallel meeting does not compete against the United Nations' process -- hijacking it, as his critics charge. They say that Mr. Bush hopes to persuade the nations that produce 90 percent of the world's emissions to come to a consensus that would allow each, including the United States, to set its own policies rather than having limits imposed by binding international treaty.

He might as well:

(1) Show Up
(2) Call Everyone to Order
(3) Rip a huge fart into the microphone
(4) Laugh and leave.

Bush's mouth is the biggest polluter in the world, every word that comes out of it is garbage and foul.

Hey no problem, after all we all know that global warming isn't real? Bush thinks global warming is a space heater turned on high.
The man is inept, literate, and a liar, there isn't anything he has to say that anyone wants to hear, except GOOD BYE, and that won't be fast enough.

The UN is the most worthless, inept, corrupt organization of thugs and dictators in the world and they have accomplished nothing.

Listening to them about so called "man made global warming" is a waste of time.

I'm glad Bush is ignoring these weasels.

It's just that pesky science stuff. All those facts confuse him. They don't jive with the idealogue bull. Besides, Jesus is coming back any day now - who cares about the environment.

What a moron.

Bush does have a point in that he does not want the UN dictating US policy. Now don't go jumping on me and say that I blindly follow the guy, I just do not like the idea of other countries dictating our policies. This link shows the results of Kyoto and, subsequently, why Clinton did not choose to sign up for it. The Kyoto plan does little to curb overall greenhouse gas content of the atmosphere in that it ignores the other 99.72% of greenhouse gases other than man made CO2.

I disagree. What will Bush accomplish in his meeting? He's getting the biggest polluters together to decide that they're going to set they're own emmission policies. Isn't that what they're doing now? Isn't that why they cause 90% of green house gas emmissions? Even if the US adopts an agressive plan to curb emmissions (unlikely) another country (I'm thinking China) could say "Screw that. We're building MORE coal plants." If Bush and these other countries were really interested in change they would show up for the meeting.

It's already to late. Man has destoryed the plant. The question is do we have 50, 100 or 150 years?

What choice does Bush have? If he shows up, his record on this issue is abysmal. If he doesn't show up, he reveals how much of a non-issue it is to him, along with the fact that his is aligned with the corporate entities with the worst record on emitting greenhouse gases.

Too bad he just doesn't have the ability to shut his mouth and not spew his BS propaganda on this issue.

Bush doesn't live up to International commitments like the Geneva Convention even when they are long standing written commitments, why would anyone in there right mind believe that he would live up to a new non-binding commitment on climate change. Any leader that is attends such a meeting is as delusional as Bush.

He keeps putting this off, the next leader of the "Free World" may have to SWIM to one of these doggone confabs.

NAHH MAN BUY STOCK IN "ARK" BUILDERS.
Much of the middles east will flood pushing more sand into the Oceans and then forcing flood waters higher around the world.
Not too many people can live on the mountians and be able to grow food too. Fresh water, food and land will be premium priced so the demand will be for ARKS for people to live on. That or caves.

09/23/07 DoD Identifies Army Casualty
Command Sgt. Maj. Jonathan M. Lankford, 42, of Scottsboro, Ala., died Sept. 22, in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 79th Ordnance Battalion, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

=======

Another non-combat related incident? Is this a new Pentagon strategy? Every other death in Iraq is now being reported as a non-combat related incident.

Suspicious that the highest non commissioned officer would die of a non combat incident. Was he fragged by his men like they were in Viet Nam?
