During the September 19 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, discussing his recent trip to have dinner with Rev. Al Sharpton at Sylvia's, a famous restaurant in Harlem, Bill O'Reilly reported that he "had a great time, and all the people up there are tremendously respectful," adding: "I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship." Later, during a discussion with National Public Radio senior correspondent and Fox News contributor Juan Williams about the effect of rap on culture, O'Reilly asserted: "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.' You know, I mean, everybody was -- it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all." O'Reilly also stated: "I think black Americans are starting to think more and more for themselves. They're getting away from the Sharptons and the [Rev. Jesse] Jacksons and the people trying to lead them into a race-based culture. They're just trying to figure it out. 'Look, I can make it. If I work hard and get educated, I can make it."

Hose-hockey, I am blue eyes and white. I am college educated with a Bachelor of Science in the hot field Electrical Engineering and I can't make it in America. I have lost five jobs that went to the Asian rim starting with computer terminal designer in 1972, it went to Taiwan.

I am not a cashier at a small business in Palm Beach making the minimum wage and can hardly pay my rent with a roommates help.

What chance does someone black have. I know I have been given breaks because of my white skin, but I have still spent time in homeless shelters in Bush America. O'Reilly is successful because he kisses the right butts

Wow. There is something to be said for honesty, I always say. But when honesty reveals bigotry, ignorance or mal-intent, then we need to address it strongly!

Now how can you expect someone like that to offer fair analysis of the news involving minorities? Glenn Beck of CNN often squirms uncomfortabley in the presence of people of color and has the same line of reasoning as well. This is not an isolated mental construct. Unbelievable!

I sometimes dismiss ignorance with a wave and a shrug, but when so called pundits use such ignorance to influence gullible readers/listerners/viewers, then they need to be held to task. FOX News has put out a response supporting their Poster Boy O'Reilly. That will do nothing towards his education! This is one instant in which O'Reilly and his ilk need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
