Think Progress:

On the Senate floor today, Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) made an impassioned appeal to his fellow senators, declaring that the Lieberman-Kyl amendment on Iran should be "withdrawn" because the "proposal is Dick Cheney's fondest pipe dream." Webb cautioned that the "cleverly-worded sense of the Congress" could be "interpreted" to "declare war" on Iran. He continued:

Those who regret their vote five years ago to authorize military action in Iraq should think hard before supporting this approach. Because, in my view, it has the same potential to do harm where many are seeking to do good.

Never Forget: Cheney is the Neo-Con Chicken Hawk Poster Boy.

Dick 'less' Cheney supported the Vietnam War in his youth yet when asked to serve in the military and fight in that war, cried like a PUSSY and asked for and received Five Draft Deferments.

What a PUSSY!!

Where are all those would be presidents?
Why aren't they calling Kyl and Lierberman traitors?
why couldn't at least one of them have asked the House to impeach?
If the candidates for president are not raising holy hell about this treachery, I don't want to see or hear from him (or HER Zionistship!)

Let me tell you something about Senator Webb. He's a Marine Corp Vietnam Veteran late of Annapolis. So he might be too close to the forest to see the tree, which in this case is Iran. Now Cheney got himself six deferments during the Vietnam war. You might not think much of that - heck, some of you traitors may think he's pure bred wussy - but look at it this way, if, after dodging the Vietnam War Dick Cheney now wants to go to war, well, then, maybe he's onto something this time. Cheney's no dummy. Him and Lieberman, and maybe even the boy, Dubya, know some mistakes were made in Iraq, but they also know that the best way to avoid the same mistakes in the future is to - how did Bush put it: "Won't git fooled again!"

Now, of the four, you know what you're getting: On the right, Cheney, Lieberman, and the boy, Dubya; on the center left, Webb.

Now who do you think has your best interest at heart? When you ponder this question, don't forget that Cheney's a grandfather...

Either poor excuse for satire or a bad joint. With logic like that you should be the poster boy for the college of proctology.

It is a shame that Senator Webb did not arrive on the scene earlier, but at least he is there now.

The American people and Congress have allowed insane-Bush to destroy the reputation of the USA in becoming the world's ignorant bully...insane-Bush is an embarrassment on a global scale!

If we allow Bush's insanity and ignorance to attack Iran or Syria, possibly starting a Middle Eastern war, and maybe even WWIII, then the USA has no future among civilized and advancing nations!!!!!!!!!

First its one. One brave man/woman, then another. Who's up next? The man can't fight em by himself. It'll never pass, there are not 60 votes. Jim's handing you a baseball bat, which one of you mealy, whiny, spineless wonders are going to stand up next and help him?

Well, Senator Webb, the way Ms Pelosi was stumbling all over herself on CNN when asked why she just can't pull the pursestrings on the Iraq war and how those "big bad senators" were keeping the legislation to end the war from getting that "magic 60" vote.....you gots your work cut out for you - LEADERSHIPwise.

She's mine...California, that is....and boy, I am not a happy camper.

Check this site out momma.

I too saw Pelosi on CNN with Wolfie today lamely trying to sell the DLC talking point that "Republican Senators own the war" as if repeating this mantra will make it so.

She stumbled and fumble her way through the entire interview showing guts ONLY when she again rejected impeachment for our war criminals.

Go Cindy!!!

PS good effort by Webb on this issue. Why the hell was he one of 22 Democratic Senators that sided with fascist Republicans last we by voting to condemn MoveOn for their anti-war ad?

Indeed, "Go Cindy!" far, far away.

She has no chance of getting elected. None. she is consitutionally qualified but otherwise has no experience in government or leadership beyond shrill exploitation.

Impeachment is risible at this late date. Its proponents are among the most clueless people in America, for the very simple reason that they do not get presidential succession.

Webb is wrong: the diplomatic policy hasn't "failed". It's achieved exactly the results intended: a state of growing hostility between us and the whole Islamic world, and of fear among the American public.

Webb has strong moral convictions. He has experience. He has integrity. He is pragmatic. He has courage. He is right about the folly of going into Iran.

Bush and Cheney never served in combat. Neither know or care about the horrors of war.

The world is watching these events unfold. America has a history of killing people in Iran, not the other way around. Begin in 1953 and continue through the brutal dictatorship of the Shah of Iran. Understand how the Iranian people received nothing from the oil. Read about how Rumsfeld and others armed both sides of the eight-years long war between Iran and Iraq.

Our ally was Saddam Hussein.

Write to your Representatives that you oppose the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment which will be used to justify an unnecessary war that will result in millions of deaths.

Jim Webb is a true hero. I wish Hillary and other democrats had decency to actively oppose the next impending war. The blood of a million people has not dried out yet. Somebody must stop Lieberman/Kyl and try them in court for their stealth "work".

In the meantime CNN/FOX are busy playing along the next war mongers and others remain silent.
