Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd were not pleased with comments made by Bill O'Reilly about black people, based on observations he made while dining with Al Sharpton in Harlem.
Earlier today they played audio of Bill and then said this on ABC's "The VIew":

O Really must have a big audience in the more isolated parts of fly over country where people really talk like that. I've been reading a lot of this discussion and I feel that he was trying his very hardest to debunkify the stereotype. The problem is that BillO sucks at making any coherent thought patterns and flubbed it up. For white America (or others call it the stix) there really is an image of the MTV black. It sucks, it's not civil, and not right. Yet for those who don't make it to the big city, it's all they have. In fact, I'm willing to bet the African-Americans they do see with a good job are the "exception". You guys out there in Cali might be repulsed by this fact but it's the truth.
So don't fault that bastard Bill (I really don't like him) but start faulting the red neck Americans that still think they are imitating black people by throwing up gang signs. I think that Bill was actually trying to put it to those people by saying "Guess what, people are people." Too bad he is as about articulate as a 3rd grader when he speaks. Maybe he would've been better understood.
Whites and blacks in the south have been living in close quarters for centuries, and many have also known they were related; yet racism is just as rampant there.
Your example may be useful; but it does not explain the entire circumstance of white racism.

O'Reilly addressed this on his show last night with Juan Williams-a black guy if you don't know him. It was a Media Matters smear job taken out of context, as usual..I'm sure Whoopie and the flat-earther(?) got their talking points from some blue blog. Anyway, who watches something as stupid as the View? That's about as intellectually stimulating as "Desperate HouseHoes"

I personally found this more shocking than the Imus flub. He was out of line too but it was more embarrassing than anything, trying to use other slang in totally the wrong way.
The problem with both of them is that deep down they really are racist, so racist they don't even realize it. you can see then trying to couch their words and sound reasonable, to make some kind of valid point. But the point is only valid if you assume black really are inferior and 'doing quite well' now that they are emulating your superior civilization.
I think its long overdue that O'Reilly be Imus'd out of any respectable job. Every black person in America and ever equality minded reasonable non-black person should be up in arms demanding his firing/resignation, whatever is necessary.

Here's the thing...Billo says stupid things but he's preaching to the choir so he still has a job...As much an ass as Imus could be, he was typically loved by both sides and journalists but if you look back, other than "black leaders" (whatever that is), the Repubs went after him because he was of influence, employed by their nemesis MSNBC, and an easy way for Repubs to earn brownie points w/ minorities without ever actually having to interact with minorities. The Repubs called for Imus's head and got it because he easily pointed out what an idiot Bush is too.
Now for Billo, he won't get canned because Dems won't go after him. MSNBC is not like FOX...MSNBC will cave if there's enough squawking - even by people who have never even watched MSNBC. Do you think all the complaining in the world would affect FOX News' decision on anything?
