A PBS video previewing the network's Republican presidential candidates forum, set to air tonight from a historically black university, asks, "Can the party of Abraham Lincoln win the hearts and minds of all Americans?"

But none of the GOP's top White House contenders will show up to answer the question, each citing a scheduling conflict.

Instead, viewers will see four empty lecterns on the stage as Tavis Smiley, an African American talk show host, poses questions to five lesser-known candidates: Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Alpine), Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.).

Brownback is apologizes to African Americans for slavery and then turns arond and co sponsors the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act (IMBRA) that labels African American men abusers and criminals who must prove their innocence before they can communicate with a woman in a foreign country using a dating agency.
A little background: Brownback worked quietly with the ultra liberal Senator Cantwell (D-WA) who made the startling claim that American men who date foreigners are slave traders and the women they date are their property. So Brownback comes to the rescue foolishly sponsoring the IMBRA law that makes writing a letter to a foreigner a crime.
Senator Cantwell"s supposition that dating services drag women into a life of sex slavery was nothing more than a feminist tall tale.
Too late¦ Now all American men including African American men loose their constitutional rights to free speech and free association thanks to Senator Brownback and must prove they are not slave traders and undergo a background clearance before they can communicate with a foreign women. Thats right folks this insane law has been passed so get ready to tell them about your arrests including minor alcohol offenses 25 years ago, restraining orders that are easy to obtain, how many children you have, how many times you "ve been married, etc.
This is a rascist law designed to punish African American men who have higher arrest records then white men.
This law needs to be repealed. Contact your representative and ask that the International Marriage Broker Regulation Act H. R 3402, Public Law No. 109-162, Title VIII, Subtitle D be repealed.

The Republican Party is now the Fascist Party of America. Blacks would be their Jews.

It is the duty of every American to not just abandon the Republican Party, but to actively oppose it in every way possible.

Mega-millions is the only voter block left that is of any real significance to presidential candidates, whatever the stripe - so here's what we should do, eliminate all private, personal and PAC campaign contributions, and replace that mega-corrupted system with public financing apportioned via debate performance as determined by public voting ala American Idol.

I guess it says more about those who want to set up racist forums so they can claim someone who doesn't support them are racist. They are the ones that should be denounced.

Today we see the result of the history of white racism on the American landscape; it comes in the form of the ignorant, who are incapable of looking at situations requiring complex analysis.

They default to code words, stereotypes and stupidity.

BTW, what do you call a "racist forum"? Please define.

Lincoln, a Republican, proclaimed slavery and bigotry as evil and wrong. I wonder what he would say now if he were to witness the bigotry and hatred that has become the benchmark of the Republican Party? Falwell started the hypocrisy, and the GOP has turned it into a fine art. They need to dismantle, learn what it is to be an American, study the Constititution (something they obviously haven't done), and then regroup as true Americans, not phobic rightwing puppets.

Unfortunately, those Americans who still felt strongly about bigotry and slavery were never completely dealt with by the American system of justice. Shortly, after the 'War between the States' they formed into the Klu Klux Klan and instead rose in prominence across this land, and they manifested into the mainstream as their violent form changed into business suits and business suites.

The inability or reluctant of other white Americans who did not embrace racial injustice lackluster approach to them, in many ways has allowed them to not only flourish but to continue to spread their words of hate, bigotry and prejudice. Many of those who recognized that America was correct in confronting racism, seemed incapable of openly facing the magnitude of the 'white racism' and the scope of the political sentiments that would continue to seek out a place to root and grow.

We can identity the GOP as a place which seems now comfortable in luring these folks to their camp, but we can not as well allow the Democrats off the hook, as they have and do fail to openly confront them and frame their hatred as a security risk to the United States.

Obama's answer to the Jena 6 was typical of the careful path that today's democrats tread in confronting racism. Whereas, Obama isn't the only candidate who should be reflectively asked to explain his position, the reluctance and absence of 'white leadership' shifts the matter to his lap. Obama's answer intelligently did just so. Yet, not 1 white democratic candidate chose to follow-up or address Jena 6.

This remains the problem.

The GOP is playing politics as laid out by Roves mentor, Lee Atwater.

Atwater in his own words.

"You start out in 1954 by saying, "Nigger, nigger, nigger," " said Atwater. "By 1968, you can"t say "nigger" " that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states" rights, and all that stuff. You"re getting so abstract now [that] you"re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you"re talking about are totally economic things, and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites."

My money, and time go to RON PAUL, who actually is a Libertarian. He is the only candidate that has had the right answers continuous for his entire political career. People need to listen to what he has to say..

One thing that bothers me about Ron Paul is that he is a complete fool.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:13 AM on 09/28/2007

Exactly.

Some seem to be charmed by Ron Paul, as they were by the son of the president, who has proven to be incompetent, inept and foolish.

The dominate culture has produced, among other things a 'love' for a strong, God-fearing decent white male; George Bush, many believed was this person when compared to Al Gore, who was just the opposite as portrayed in the MSM as stiff, cold, uninspiring and aloof.

Presidential elections are historically about the selling of 'personality' and it is highly unlikely that Ron Paul could win because the American president represents the idealized state of whites' identity.

In other words, whites in America seek a president who reflects the best of themselves; Romney fits the 'looks' bill, but his religious affliation may be a roadblock. Rudy is useful as well, since he gives them a sense of 'strength' and 'force' against the 'them.' But, his inability to stay in a stable marriage may be something that the white voter doesn't want to see in their president.

Thompson doesn't attend church, enough said on him. Huckabee seems fairly unremarkable in negatives, but he again does not meet the 'excitement' quotient.

Heck, perhaps the GOP will find a way to keep George Bush in office for a few more years., at least we do know what we're not going to get.

I'm SO sickened by this sort of faux, feigned "wide eyed surprise" by the right wing Punditocracy over why it is that the so-called GOP frontrunners chose to skip this debate.

It has achingly clear that Ronald Reagan is the sainted, deified godhead of the Republic party. Of course since they purport to be HIS disciples and certainly not of George W. Bu$h, they would seek to emulate Ronnie in as much as possible.

Reagan was a man who kicked off his presidential campaign in Philadelphia MS, talking loudly of State's Rights, knowing full well it was the spot where 16 years earlier noted Civil Rights activists were brutally murdered.

This is the true face of today's Republic party. The illusion of inclusion is just a faux slogan like "Mission Accomplished", trotted out once every four years to mask the fact that it is really a harbor for xenophobic, racist white heterosexual nationalist, perpetually frightened Americans who loathe how "beige" this nation is becoming.

Wherever the standard of freedom and independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her [America's] heart, her benedictions and her prayers be. But she goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. She will recommend the general cause, by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example. She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself, beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. The fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force. . . . She might become the dictatress of the world: she would be no longer the ruler of her own spirit.
