Former CBS "Evening News" anchor Dan Rather choked back tears on several occasions today when discussing his decision to file a lawsuit against CBS and he left many audience members with a sense that he may call President George W. Bush as a witness should the lawsuit proceed to trial (and Rather said he hoped it would).

When asked by Carol Joynt, host of the "Q&A Café" held at Nathans restaurant who worked with Rather at CBS in the 1970s, whether "he'd like to" call President Bush as a witness in the trial, Rather paused, then said "I'd like not to answer the question," leaving both Joynt and audience members wondering whether the newsman has Bush in his sights." Joynt later told Yeas & Nays, "From the look in his eye -- and he gave me a definite Ratheresque look -- I got the impression he will call the president as a witness. Possibly both of them: 41 and 43. He implied the suit is not against them, but what the suit is about stems directly from his antagonistic relationship with them."

The $64k question:

"Mr. President, assuming the document was indeed a forgery, were it's CONTENTS true? Let me remind you, you ARE under oath."

Per the Lionel Show on AirAmerica... if I forge Hitler's death certificate, does it mean the man is ALIVE?

Dan, some advice. Wait until AFTER it leaves office, thereby eliminating the "executive priveledge" and "national security" excuses. CBS will probably help by dragging it past 01/20/09 anyway.

Bush will just claim, credibly, that he doesn't understand the questions, and frustrate Rather's lawyer to death. Or he'll claim executive privilege. Or, the GOP will flip-flop and now be against sitting Presidents testifying in civil suits. Or, Bush will say (against credibly) that's he's on vacation.

Bush would not be able to perform on the stand without the famous "pack" on his back, (under his jacket) which was connected by some kind of electronic device to his "Brain," (ROVE), so that he would be able to be "fed the answers," as was evident during the Presidential Debates, where pictures of this phenomena where taken and put on-line and in Newsweek, but ignored by the MSM! He is too dumb, and he will get himself in a whole lot of trouble! I hope that he is searched very well for such devices, before testifying!
