Dan Rather appeared as himself on the series premiere of ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" on Wednesday 9/26. In a party scene, billionaire scion Patrick Darling (William Baldwin), who is rumored to be running for Senate, gets interrupted by Dan.

Darling excuses himself to deal with his transvestite lover who shows up unexpectedly.

Remember when they dressed Dan in a sweater on the evening news, to "soften" his image? For this scene, maybe they should have put Dapper Dan in an ascot tie or a cravat with square ends.

So its come to this: 15 second cameos on trash TV. Rather is SUPPOSED to be doing the news; had not bushco and his mafioso partners arranged for his career "demise". He was just too probing a reporter; and they had done all they could to cover up shrubs year of partying and coke snorting. Bush wasn't smart enough to pilot a jet. And bush in the sky on coke?

Who brought this one up? Is Ann Coulter on Huffington's payroll now?

He would have sounded better if they taped large forged documents on the teleprompter like he was used to?

I hope Mr. Rather had fun doing this cameo. Like any cameo, he wasn't supposed to outshine the real actors - and he was his real self. And they gave him 'words' which he got right.

What did you expect?

Personally, I hope he is more relaxed at real parties with real friends.

Love ya, Mr. Rather.

HBeachbum, actually it turns out the information was correct, it was the repug spin machine that almost burned out a bearing smearing him. This will stop soon, as the money men know that the Democratic Party will be in the WH and control congress by huge margins. They are unethical, but not stupid, the money will flow to those in power. Bush will be tagged as the worst president in the proud history of America, He and his family should be proud. You will never see another Bush crime family member (especially his idiot brother Jeb) in elected office again, unless it is in animal control in Idaho.

I think there was a real point to his appearance on this particular show. There's getting the inside story as an outsider, and then there's getting the inside story as an outsider. That's what the show's about. In this sense, Rather was part of an ensemble, the word the show's writer was looking for, spoken in the right way at the right time.

Well, I wish Dan would acknowledge the republican trick for what it was. With a 2 or 3 for the price of one, with the veneer of truthfulness that no republican, or politician for that matter, has one iota of, they still were able to convience the American public that the report was a fraud because the papers were not real, forgery or whatever.(Americans sure easy to dupe)
What was and is the real behind the scenes function was to get a show by Bill Bradley bumped about the Niger yellowcake fiasco, so Dan was handed some actually true information on altered documents and voila Dan is fired or forced to leave, the yellowcake story is buried and w comes out looking like a military hero.
Doubt an indictment and conviction could be obtained here but why in hell has there been NO investigation about the administration's lead up to the trade center attack. How could high up elected officals have the information that showed something like a plane into a building was about to happen and they sat on their asses the whole day.(Another republican trick, they knew and let it happen because of the power they could envoke for themselves and begin tearing down the democracy of our country.)(And this is the least they are criminally resposible for in the case. It is probably much more darker and worse than most poor honest christian americans can comprehend)

Actually, Dan Rather has acknowledged the papers were forged but still claims the story is right. He did it of course, in a mealy mouth sort of way but what did we expect from radical old Dan?

When you insist on putting forth dishonest propaganda that the liberal in question you are "defending" has debunked.....you do Dan Rather, yourself, and the cause you promote no good at all.

This is a great failing of the left. The desire to spring to righteous anger and manufacture scenarios they feel are just so convincing that can win the day for the left with childish deceits.

A good, HONEST discussion with facts would be much more helpful for your cause.

The "papers" were forged?

"PAPERS"?

Embellish much, asshole?

All you wingnut trollies are obsessed, to the point of flop-sweat, with that single controversial document and the usual array of talking points -- furiously nibbling around the edges of the issue like frantic rodents, bleating "libruls" the whole way...

But not one -- not a SINGLE FUCKING ONE OF YOU -- has posted so much as a shred of documentation REFUTING the underlying truth of the original Rather report.

... which helps to explain why, as the criminal Iraq debacle falls like a house of cards, a dwindling crust of morons continues to cheer the occupation in tight formation, their soiled, matching leotards torn from the effort of jumping up and down and waving their stubby little arms.

The rest of us know that, as in most of his vapid history, Junior got through this one like he had an EZ-Pass riveted to his ass.

Can't wait for the discovery phase in Rather's lawsuit... all those irrefutable facts out there, clamoring to be lined up and displayed in evidence, well beyond the reach of Georgie's spinmeisters and a lazy, stenographic press.

It's.................. SHOWTIME!

Gonna watch, Stevie?

DAn Rather is senile, what did you expect?

Leave the guy alone already. The typewriter that supposely did not exit when the letter was written has been shown to in fact have been in existence and used for a notice of Bush's promotion to 1st Lt. So, again, I say leave him alone.

Wow, amazing. You have the smoking gun. Care to link us to the proof? I mean, you wouldn't lie and make something up like that, right?

The CBS independent panel report did not specifically take up the question of whether the documents were forgeries, but retained a document expert, Peter Tytell, who concluded the documents used by CBS were most likely produced using modern technology.[71]

Tytell concluded ... that (i) the relevant portion of the Superscript Exemplar was produced on an Olympia manual typewriter, (ii) the Killian documents were not produced on an Olympia manual typewriter and (iii) the Killian documents were produced on a computer in Times New Roman typestyle [and that] the Killian documents were not produced on a typewriter in the early 1970s and therefore were not authentic.

I think the only people who feel that reporters need to be able to "Hollywood up" the unappreciated art of reading the news are people who add very little to the intellectual gene pool. Like Don Imus, a man that most would agree adds absolutely nothing of value to a serious discussion.

Walter Cronkite was also pretty serious. The man showed up for work he read the news, he did it professionally. Rather followed in his footsteps better than almost anyone else. He got pushed out because he was made out to be the face of a story that didn't have all the details...and probably never will be able to have all the evidence because it was DESTROYED.

Of course, the sort of story that Rather covered that got him fired, was JUST as solid as anything Fox News ever did.

Who gives a f*ck?! Dan Rather is one of a handful of stand up journalists in America. The guy is a hero in my book. He should be an actor too? Gimme a break! You want actors? Bush is an actor. Coulter is an actor. Rove is an actor. Cheney is an actor yada yada yada...

"yada yada yada..." So eloquent. Is that what passes for intellectual discourse in La La Land?

Dan Rather's wooden cameo...?!? What is wrong with you people, why all the bad-blood for Dan 'The Camera Never Blinks' Rather? Don't you get it, that he was your last gasping hope as a true newsman at the national news anchor desk? I give you Katie (I Won the Smiles Contest in high school, can you tell), Charlie (Nice Guys like this, don't they usually do the weather in a place like, oh, Southern '77 and sunny again today' California) and Brian (Sure, I wear the black T-shirt in the field, you bet I'm authentic). Forget about the fact, his performance was pretty darn good in this humble WGA card-carrying member's opinion. Dan, you go get a SAG card this minute. I'll never quit voting for you. And yeah, baby, see them in court!!!

All we're sayin' here is that he's not an actor.

You need to relax.

Of course, hearing that you "need to relax" probably just made you more tense. Sorry.

I love Dan. I also love Jessica Alba. Neither can act.

joseph, I think you take your snark a little too seriously. It was a 30 second scene, what do you expect Emmy-worthy, scenery-crunching hammary (a la Baldwin's smarmary or the supporting actresses piqued brow)?

In my appraisal, Dan's acting was just fine.

Full disclosure: of the three big '70s-'90s network puppets, Dan was my least favorite personality, but definitely the best reporter.

Dear Huffington Post,

How about an "Academy Awards" for best acting by a newscaster in a TV or movie. Maybe another division for politicos?

Greta's been pretty good on Damages
Larry King is always Larry King
Katie Couric was in a fish movie
whaddya think?

Document Dan's acting wooden? why am I not surprised. As Don Imus once observed, watching Dan Rather do the news was like watching a hostage tape. The only thing missing were 2 guards on either side of him with ak-47s

Pile on Rather with the rest of the MSM, HuffPo, you groundbreaking independent media outlet, you. Rather's acting is no worse than most of the pundits out there who "act" like journalists.
