Is the bottled water you drink any better than what comes out of the tap? Is it from the tap?

Most companies that sell H2O hate the idea, but the California Legislature wants to make it easier for people to find out what minerals, chemicals or bacteria are in the water they buy and whether its provenance is a well, an artesian aquifer, a spring -- mountain or otherwise -- or a municipal reservoir.

"People pay a premium for bottled and vended water because they believe it is healthier," said state Sen. Ellen Corbett (D-San Leandro), the author of a bill that is on Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's desk. "But in many cases, it is the same water that is coming out of the tap."

Dasani water was removed from UK shelves because of an ADDED carcinogen. Some European mineral waters used to brag about their radioactivity. Many of these brands are simply public-source water in a cool package, which itself may be a source of carcinogens from plastic decomposition in sunlight. Unfortunately the bottles don't decompose fast enough to keep them from degrading the environment everywhere they are discarded. And even lottery tickets would be a better use of the money discarded on this cr*p. What's to like?

It simply makes sense to have a product's ingredients on the label.

ever heard the name Brita? you don't need to suck on the tap, just filter it - isn't that common sense?

The FDA should handle this on a nationwide basis. Do we have to wait for Dubya to leave office before the FDA does its job?

we'll have to wait until all the bushies are purged from the government ranks before anyone can do their jobs again.

I pay premium bucks for Arrowhead delivered as I have advance kidney disease and I was told it was better than tap. In San Diego the tap is crappy water and the taste varies depending on where you get your water. That means maybe how far it travels from the source which isn't the backyard but a reservoir somewhere that holds water piped in from the Colorado River. I will be happy to know what is better or the same as I cannot test it myself.

Our water is so clean and pure, a European company tried to buy up the local water company, bottle it, and export it.

I drink right out of the tap.

(PS: the locals sued the company, bought the water company back and it's now run locally. Do you know who owns YOUR water source?)
