AP:

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.

Clinton, her party's front-runner in the 2008 race, made the suggestion during a forum hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.

A new "Chicken in every pot" - such political BS!

Yep, that's what the country needs: a $5000 INCENTIVE FOR ILLEGALS to drop their anchor babies here. The invasion should reach new levels never before seen by any country. (It would make D-Day seem like a casual gathering of folks for a picnic.)

Here's an alternative - do like Sarkozy in France who is rounding up 25,000 THIS YEAR ALONE and deporting them all. Sarkozy should serve as a model for the current crop of US elected weasels who won't do what is necessary to enforce the law of the land and stop the invasion.

The Baby Bond doesn't come from the government it comes from taxpayers like me. I know, I know, its for the children. "Pausing to wipe the tears from my eye's." There are 6 billion plus humans here already, How about we figure out how to take care of us first? I don't want to part of your Village, I want to be able to retire some day.

Demonic presidential candidate Hillary Rotten Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.
This way we will always have a pool of poor stupid kids the more kids you have the more money,it only follows that your child must serve in the military in order to collect it!

I've just read that the baby bond idea originated with McGovern so that sort of explains his recent endorsement of Clinton.

I could understand how this idea originated with McGovern. When he ran for the presidency he wanted to give every person in this country $1,000. The republicans ripped him apart with it and the idea contributed to his defeat. Hillary is way off base with this. By the time these kids are old enough to go to college or buy a house, that $5,000 won't be worth a dime. She needs to concentrate on a universal healthcare program and forget about giving republicans a sledgehammer like McGovern did.

The good news is that Hillary knows a really good Wall Street investment banking firm to manage all the children's bonds.

Hillary Clinton: doing it for the children!

Let's see...

According the the Kansas City Star, the national debt ceiling was just raised to $9.815 trillion (yes, that's spelled with a "t").

According to the U. S. Census Bureau, the total U. S. population as of 09/29/07 at 16:49 GMT (EST+5) is 303,003,513.

Dividing the national debt by the current population yields a result of $32,392.36 for every man, woman, and child in this country.

With all the crying by the Reich Wing about the so-called "death tax", which you don't pay unless you are quite wealthy, and you are already dead when you pay it, where is the concern for the birth tax? Every child born in this country inherits that above-reference debt of $32,392.36 before it even draws its first breath. What a wonderful legacy for a newborn -- to enter this world with a negative net worth before soiling their first diaper.

Yes, Hillary, maybe, just maybe, the $5,000 for every child born in this country might help them someday to pay the interest on the debt that you are contributing to by continuing to support the U. S. imperialistic actions in Afghanistan and Iraq (which does not include many other U. S. actions in other countries that the MSM won't tell us about).

Hillary, how about addressing the national debt, that affects not only children born into this country, but everyone?

I got a better idea, have every couple who chooses to have children put $5,000 of their own money into a trust when the child is born. If this isn't done, then have the government garnish their wages until $5,000 has been socked away for the child. Having children is a choice, if I choose not to, why should I help you pay to put your child through college anymore than I do now?

This is the stupidest idea yet. It's a disincentive to have children. So 20 years after your idea is enacted this country will have a shortage of workers and the jobs and companies will move overseas....sorry Bill Clinton already made that happen......uh...there will be a shortage of workers and all of the Walmarts and Mcdonalds will have to close. At that point yes, the USA will be a third world country.

Stupid because it holds parents responsible for educating their own children? Stupid because it holds parents responsible to set their own children up for success? Since when is providing for a child a "disincentive?" You already feed, shelter and clothe them, but don't want to pay to educate them? It's a disincentive to maybe have to think about that child because you have to put away 5k when they're born? That IS the most stupidist thing I've read.

This wacky idea of Hillary's makes me remember when John Lindsay, then mayor of New York City, offered up $2,000 to any family that might be burned out of an inner city apartment. That contributed significantly to the burnout of the South Bronx and Hillary's idea would just crank up the baby machines.

Way to go, Hill!!

(When are people going to start really evaluating the invalidity of her candidacy??!!)

This Republican wants to vote for Al Gore.

Oh please JackNasty: Richardon's not a homophobe. He made a mistake on his one and only one remark. He didn't have to be goaded into admitting it like Hillary did when she waited before several gay organziations practically dragged her kicking and screaming into doing so.

Not necessarily we can have provisions for people to qualify. This is a very good idea

in relation to illegals it cost more than 5000 dollars to enter USA illegally. Illegal paranoid is the fashion of the day this is about children
about their future is a post capitalist whatever works approach let study it lets see what Greenspan and other smart economist and sociologist say about the consequences of this.

I think I like but is too soon to say if it will work, we need original ideas that make sense it is simillar to the investment of part od Social security it was rejected not by the democrats but by Greenspan and other that argue that it will make the stocks market too wild.

What a great way to make sure we don't run out of humans! Let's pay people to have more and more kids. Because that's what the world needs: encouragement to reproduce. What could be wrong with that? Given this and Bill Maher's comment on his most recent New Rules that Clinton's health policy is really a (pro-pharma) drug policy, and the fact that she has no plan for extricating us from Iraq, and hasn't led the way on restoring habeas corpus or instituting campaign finance reform or dealing with global warming . . . I'm having a hard time finding a reason to vote for her, no matter who she'd be running against in the general election if she wins the primaries.

The baby gets a US federal debt of $ 250 thousand to pay off during their life time and Hillary wants to reduce that by $ 5,000.

Who the heck does she think she is fooling?

She wants to be the first Presidential Nanny.

The federal debt a one bag shared by many is not the same as a bunch of small bags own by each your comparison is ridiculous. Thosis just the opposite of investment money in the hands of government is investment money in the banks to be use in education the best investment for individuals.

This is a brilliant idea that needs to be considered and polished I will add no children of illegals and if you get in troubles as a juvenile you may lose your money. I will also introduce small increments for good school performance and not dropping High school lets put the energy of capitalism in the hands of our future generations. Other ideas of similar spirit can be considered lets have open mind and harts

"investment money in the banks" with which they will make millions in profit.

This is a stupid idea. It's an incredibly stupid idea.

If you care about children, then you will work to lower the federal deficit. Lowering the federal deficit will spur growth in the domestic economy, thus allowing an increase in government revenues. It will also provide better paying jobs and more money to the workers of America. This will allow the government, if it is not run by moron Republicans who insist on lowering taxes on the rich, more monies to pay for healthcare, education, and social security.

This is what Bill Clinton did. He lowered the deficit, not by his own choosing, more like he was forced to by Newt Gingrich, but by doing so he stimulated growth in the economy. He of course took credit.

Instead of this hair brain, throw money at the problem solution, the sound economic policy is to lower the Federal deficit. This will allow the citizens to earn more, pay more in taxes, and give them the ability to pay for their own education.

How about we just reduce taxes for the poor or would they just be too stupid to say their own money. Yep, Hillary doesn't trust the poor and stupid to be able to save their own money.

Or better yet how about we put a cap in those credit card companies fees and penalties that Hillary voted for.

Of course not,

Americans will not be wise using this money and it will end in the hands of cleaver marketing and result in inflation.

I do not trust myself with money in my hands lets be REAL.

The credit card business could be better regulated, many economists have tried but we have to consider the complex interactions and the volume we are talking about. this is a relative small amount that goes in opposite direction of debpt no bad no bad at all. woth considering with an open mind.

It's hard enough for any middle class people to save any money Give Peace A Chance. The poor spend every penny of their money just trying to live from day to day, and so many of them don;t even pay taxes. Grants for affordable housing and college are one thing, but this $5,000 per baby is ridiculous. In a sense though, giving that sort of money away is not an argument the republicans can use against Hillary, not when they're willing to reach the trillion dollar mark on this murderous venture in Iraq.
