We should be proud. We are paying them.
By watching these mindless shows and buying the products, they promote, we pay these TV-personalities. People who make their money by promoting idiotic celebrities, violent movies, spending money on useless crap, spreading gossip, exploiting vulnerable people, initiating useless diets and showing endless cooking sections , etc.
Teachers, nurses, social workers, anybody in the so-called service industries barely make enough to afford a house. I have never understood why people are accepting so readily the huge disparity of income

These shows of the TV-millionaires have only entertainment value, no social value at all, even if they try to convince you otherwise. All of these shows are tabloids. Nobody should make that kind of money by exploiting the lowest instincts of humankind. The only thing these shows contribute to society is dummying down everybody.

Keith Olbermann - a major natural talent commands only $4 million on MSNBC, and all these losers below make nothing less than $10 million. Even Perky Katie, CBS lousy investment, walks away with $15 million. Tyra Banks makes $18 million!!! Matt Lauer makes $13 million!!! Just imagine.

Okay, somebody help me here. I love Oprah as much as anybody, but what where and how in her career has she done anything that would propel her up into that kind of stratosphere of wealth? When did it happen and what propelled it? I'm missing something obviously. I like all of her shows and admire her humanitarianism, but I'm trying to lock-in on what brought forth so much wealth?????

No problem with the money per se. You can only have so many houses and cars. But face it, money is power and when you have this much money you have a LOT of power - and influence. Where it gets dicey is whether that influence is used for good or evil. We can all name people on both sides of this coin. I would put Oprah on the benevolent side for now and would hope she stays there.

Got to hand it too Oprah if she takes a big salary and pays taxes on it. That is the honest way.
Most Private Business Owners take only a miniumn wage salary and pay income taxes at that low rate. Then they make CAPITAL WITHDRAWALS from the Businesses Capital account and those withdrawals are taxed at a much lower rate and no other taxes taken out.
