How Blog Comments Can Make You Famous

But thanks to a particular wrinkle of Internet culture, DaShiv is a star, an internationally famous portrait photographer, feted and fawned over during his 10-day visit to New York. This fame is not thanks to his own blog. He doesn't have one. Nor has he scored big by creating a clever YouTube video or a flashy MySpace page.

DaShiv's notoriety stems from the popularity of the comments and photos he posts on blogs run by other people.

There are those who have blogs. Then there are those who leave comments on other people's blogs, sometimes lots and lots of comments, sometimes nasty, clever, brilliant, monumentally stupid or filthy comments.

Jeez so now even THIS has become a competitive popularity contest. No one knows to leave well enough alone.

Oh well anyway I could solve all the world's problems but of course no one talks/listens to me because I'm not popular enough, witty enough, pretty enough, handsome enough and rich enough or I don't scream loud enough or my wheel ain't squeaky enough.

But I'm gonna comment anyway.

I doubt most bloggers are looking for fame - just a voice, some co-patriotism, some solutions, and definitely new and provocative thoughts. Nothing is more intriguing than the out of the mainstream box thoughts that are generated. It is also the opportunity to say back to leaders- "ya know your not smarter than me- a collective laugh like at Columbia. Hail the new and most effective tool to a true Democracy. I'm a recent convert myself.

I"m an American leftie. I understand history and politics in terms of class struggle. I"m as lonely as the Maytag repairman. I am so alienated from my fellow citizens that every day is like a star wars convention. I comment on the HuffPo because (if I behave myself) Arianna lets me.

I think anyone reading Georgia10 can see what a paparazzi hound she is.

I dunno. I was famous years before I was a blogger. Famous is easier than rich.

And if I knew how to be rich, I wouldn't bother with famous.

As a movie star I do what I can for the needy. I have a homeless shelter for young women between the ages of 18 and 25. I offer hot meals and a warm bed with plenty of fragrant oils and "toys". (wink, wink) I make home movies and post them as a way for young women to generate an income. It's all done on a percentage basis since I have to recoup my expenses. It's just my way of giving back.

Famous or Infamous ?

I must say though, it is great to have the opportunity to express yourself, share ideas, get angry, learn something ... much better than watching a test pattern on the old RCA.

The more communication there is, the more debate, the healthier the Democracy ... let's hope nothing disrupts the free flow of ideas on the Internet as is currently occurring in Burma and some of the World's other despotic hell holes.

Yeah, just the name FogBelter keeps us in suspense. With every post you lower the bar a little more.

You mean people actually read this stuff?

I mean people other than us?

I didn't know we were supposed to be witty.

Nobody told me.

I'll have to try harder. Oh, the pressure.

I am addicted to READING the comments and Huff Po. Whenever I read or watch TV and I am left with political angst by the media liars, I just log on to HP and read those great funny comments from the gang that hangs around here.
I must admit that I hate the right wing trolls
which I ignore and because I'm a just left of center liberal, I don't always like some comments but I respect their right to say it(truly).

Wow, what a dream, to become famous on a blog.

It's almost as good as doing something.
