I Like ItI Don’t Like It

McClatchy Newspapers:

Palm Sunday two years ago was a glorious day for Christian conservatives.

A president who'd proclaimed Jesus his favorite philosopher was racing back from vacation to sign a bill rushed through a compliant Congress at their bidding -- a last-minute gamble to keep alive a severely brain-damaged woman in Florida.

If true , this is the best news I've heard in a long long time. Kharma will get ya' -------- These hypocritical bigots holding a bible while , drapped in a flag and carrying a grenade launcher , have had their demented way , too long.

That's funny, because if the "Religious Right" are deemed so powerless, how come Giuliani, Thompson, Huckabee, and Brownback are wielding their Bibles and regurgitating the God Squad rhetoric as they make the scheduled stops to the status quo trailer park-ridden south?

Give me a break. The only people who have been disenfranchised THIS election cycle are the burnt out anti-war hippies, who've put whatever hemp-based products they've accumulated into the Democrat machine, and have been roundly disregarded by every Democrat candidate, all stating they will continue in Iraq (in one way or another), all leaving an invasion of Iran on the table, and some even contemplating war with other nations, such as Syria and Pakistan. Where's the story on their irrelevance?

Regrettably, the "Religious Right" aren't going anywhere for a while. It'd be nice if they started their own Bible thumping party, but as my grandfather used to tell me, you can wish in one hand and shit in the other; tell me which one gets filled first.

Gosh, I wish I could say you were wrong about any of this, but you are right on the money- especially about the anti-war Democrats being completely disregarded.

I think there is a lull in the all-out rightward march of the Taliban wing of the Republican party, though. Its like they are laying back and smoking a cigarette after a good fuck- in this case, after having fucked our country.

On second thought maybe we have been taken for a ride.

See, only a day or so after the experts proclaim this, the Religious Right is using its strong arm tactics to influence the GOP to conform to their demands or they could lose their vote. And it was the religious whack jobs who helped the capitalist raise the GOP to the top of the shit pile in DC.
Whatever happened to separation of church and state. Oh, I get it now, its separation of the state from the Church's affairs, not the other way. Why else could the church harbor criminals without any fear of federal and state prosecution? Why can they openly influence and campaign for or against politicians and laws and still retain their tax exempt status? Why can the Church force their beliefs down the throats of every single person in America and nothing is ever done about it.

Why does this stuff not surprise me anymore?: I just read that the founder of the Christian "Family Research Council" (Erik Prince) is the very same man that started and owns the corporation Blackwater. This corporation (Blackwater) of Merc's that can't even be held accountable for murder of innocent people was started by Conservative Evangelical. He also sits on the board of Christian Freedom International.

How quaint.

So typical of the Neo Cons , and the right wing christian fundamentalists to pull out all the fear tactics . Personally, I stopped listening to the false flag terror tactics a long time ago . As for all the so called Christian politicians , you people need to read the constitution again . Here's a hint ....It has to do with separation of church and state .

Social control and obedience to authority is their agenda. This erodes civil rights and freedom. In every instance these movements have been characterized by corruption of power by their leaders. It is so typical that this control extends to capitalist theories of the right wing. What did Jesus have to do with Milton Friedman's theories?

As long as such losers as Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell can hold power, we will have Republicans pretending to have family values. It's all about money and power, not religion.

These people are not losers, They're just not as big winners as they were. Some of the shine has come off of their hatefulness, but it's still there. As long as there is any shine left, they are still winners. Remove all of the shine and then they will be losers.

The American Taliban's death rattle is coming soon...Thank God.....Now Republican party can focus on real issues instead of proposing putting a gun to a woman's head forcing her to have a child...The Terri Schiavo incident was way stupid. Even Sean Hannity should have acknowledged her brain was jello. Religion has no place in politics...

True.

The real irony is that with less wedge-issue based religious right influence, we might *actually* get a president that supports Christian ideals.

I'm referring to helping those less fortunate, providing universal healthcare, fighting for better wages and benefits, etc (all of which do FAR more to support a family than anything normally referred to as "family values").

I would hope that the Evangels figured out long before now that this "Christian" Admin is not exactly what they thought they were getting.
Maybe now that they realize the depths of their irrelevance after being USED so deceptively by Bush/Rove they will stand up and do WHAT JESUS WOULD DO. Vote for change to bring the compassion and honesty back to this nation.

Seems as if the Bush appointees to the Supremes just slapped the fundies in the face.

High Court won't hear birth control case
By MARK SHERMAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court on Monday declined to enter a church-state dispute over whether some religious organizations can be forced to pay for workers' birth-control health insurance benefits, a growing trend in the states.

The court let stand a New York court ruling upholding a state law that forces religious-based social service agencies to subsidize contraceptives as part of prescription drug coverage they offer employees.

New York is one of 23 states that require employers that offer prescription benefits to employees to cover birth control pills as well, the groups say. The state enacted the Women's Health and Wellness Act in 2002 to require health plans to cover contraception and other services aimed at women, including mammography, cervical cancer screenings and bone density exams.

Only takes the votes of 4 Justices to hear a case.

We never know how they vote on these issues, but it is bovious that Roberts and/or Alito did not vote to accept the case.

While religious fundamentalism regrettably grows globally, in the US the religious right (and self rightous)is gasping its last dying breaths.

Their hypocrisy has finally caught up to them.

We are finally growing up as a nation.

Religious fundamentalism? Why not call it by its real name.... Ignorance & superstition. Let's be honest. Most of these people do not even have dial-up.

I did hear that Newt Gingrich visited 2nd Life the other day, though...

Yuk it up.

The truth behind this post will prove to be ther reason the GOP retains the presidency in 2008.

Hillary will get the nomination..Hillary it utterly/completely UNELECTABLE. The ONLY thing that could screw that up would be kowtowing to the JesusFreaks again.

As this article says, that won't happen, ergo, the GOP nominee will be moderate...VERY moderate (McCain is toast).

They will win....which is why HILLARY MUST BE STOPPED!!!!!!!!!!

The religious right is neither. Rather, they are anal-retentive, money-grubbing, neo-fascisti who are so busy running other's lives, they have entirely screwed up their own. And they want to foist this shit on the rest of us? No thanks.

When did the religious right begin to implode? Was it with jim & tammy bakker and their shameless excesses? jim jones and his insane group. jerry falwell and his gay tele-tubbies? anal roberts who was told, by gawd, that he should be president? Or whore monger, jimmy swaggart?

Maybe we should thank the imbecile george w. bush for exposing, before the entire world, the stupidity and the superstition nature of America's religious right.

In truth, they are neither religious nor right. They are sell-outs and phonies of the first order. Hypocrites all.

It was that other clown, pat robertson, who said that Gawd told him to run for president. It's so easy to get these idiots mixed up, they all sound the same after a while...

Definition of 'expert':
X = Unknown factor
Spirt = Drip under pressure

Religious political movements are always wildcards but eventually marginalize themselves.

"Warren, for example, hosted Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois at his California mega-church. He cites AIDS, poverty and illiteracy as top issues, not gay marriage or abortion."

This makes me want to cry. If only all Republicans would adopt AIDS, poverty and illiteracy as their top issues, what an improvement that would be.

The zealots have finally convinced me that religion is a mental illness.

If prayer worked the way fanatics claim it does, they wouldn't need to try to take over governments but there they are meddling in everything "for god". How do they rationalize that their Jesus said his kingdom is NOT OF THIS WORLD. Because they are fascists at heart, intolerant, meddling, crazy gasbags, that's why. They are more like radical Muslims who murder their own daughters if she has become "impure", such as held hands with a boy of another faith or been raped by her uncle or some other slimeball hypocrite predator.

The Kristian are like black mold. They thrive in wet, dark places. Politics is perfect for them. They are hooked on the tasted worldly power and they'll be back.
