AP:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Sunday that the front-runner for his party's nomination, Hillary Rodham Clinton, does not offer the break from politics as usual that voters need.

Both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., and her husband, former President Clinton, have criticized Obama for his lack of political experience.

There is no way in hell that Obama is going to be the next president of these here United States. Now I am a liberal and I do like Obama, but this is the U.S. of A.

Let's be practical. Even if he does get the nomination, you know that just about all of the Republicans will vote against him, along with most of the southern white Democrats, and many if not most of the other white Democrats.

I wouldn't be surprised if much of Obama's campaign money is coming from the Republicans. They'd like nothing more than to see him nominated.

If the Democrats want to commit suicide, at the same time allowing the Republicans to complete the assassination of this once great nation of ours, then they should nominate Obama and get it over with.

I'll tell you what, though... a killer combination would be Hillary and Obama as her running mate. Hillary would get almost all of the Democratic vote, along with much of the female Republican vote... although they wouldn't tell their husbands or boyfriends that they voted for Hillary. The Black vote will come out in mass for Obama as VP.

Obama is no idiot. I think he knows he can't be elected president, but perhaps he is positioning himself for the VP slot. The fact that he is trying so hard under the circumstances leads me to believe he is after that position.

I wish I could say I told you so, but this message of mine will be forgotten tomorrow, but just in case someone remembers... I TOLD YOU SO.

As an afterthought and the only point of my differing is that no matter who Hillary picks on the ticket, the black vote WILL come out in droves for her! Bill Clinton has been quoted as being the "First Black President" of the USofA! Also, the cultural conservatives amongst the Repugnants who put Bush over the top in Ohio 2004 are fairly disgruntled after Katrina and the recent (non)showings of the right wing candidates

My take is that the Repugnants have pretty much lost all Afro-American support except one cross- eyed mouthpiece who shows up on most talk shows, 1-2 congressman and Chaka Khan!

Slamming Barack for the fun of it is bad, but I don't like his policies.

Barack has talked about going into Pakistan and and increasing foreign spending by 50 Billion. I can see going into Pakistan right after 911, but not now.

We need to get the hell out of the middle east.

This is a great video showing how Rumsfeld claimed there were weapons of mass destruction, and then lied later and said he never said that.

It also shows how Bush lied saying there was a link between 911 and Iraq http://youtube.com/watch?v=EYI7JXGqd0o

We are foreign invaders.

Not to pollute your world with the evils of cognative reasoning, but I do believe she was an occupant of the White House for eight years. She has a strong relationship with the Washington Elite and the Corporate Elite through her time as a politically engaged First Lady and the carpetbagging Senator of the state of New York.

Her husband, the Democrat savior Bill, is extremely chummy with the Elder Bush ... even appearing to be, at times, the son the old GHW never had.

"And we were stokin the fires and oilin up the machinery
Until the gods found out we had ideas of our own
And war was coming and the earth was shaking
And there was no more ruin in the garden of allah

Today I made an appearance downtown
I am an expert witness because I say I am
And I said gentlemen, and I use that word loosely
I will testify for you, Im a gun for hire,Im a saint, Im a liar
Because there are no facts, there is no truth
Just data to be manipulated
I can get you any result you like
Whats it worth to you?
Because there is no wrong, there is no right
And I sleep very well at night
No shame, no solution, no remorse, no retribution
Just people selling t-shirts
Just opportunity to participate in the pathetic little circus
And winning, winning, winning

It was pretty big year for predators
The marketplace was on a roll
And the land of opportunity
Spawned a whole new breed of men without souls
This year notoriety got all confused with fame
And the devil is downhearted babe, cause
Theres nothing left for him to claim."

Obama is my senator and there are some things that I admire about him. I like that he is calling for publicly funded elections and the end of candidates being indebted to special interests. He has a proven ability to inspire others with his speeches. But Obama also has some ideas and behaviors that bother me.

His economic advisors are from the same group of people as Hillary's, the "free" trade loving Rubinites. I was amused to see him in the UAW picket line when it is the free trade policies that have done the most to weaken the position of organized labor.

In the beginning of his campaign, Obama was loathe to give us any details of his plans and relied on his "it's all about hope" rhetoric. I'm glad that he decided that he needed to be more specific, but his initial plan was to be as unspecific as possible and that communicated to me a certain amount of disdain for us.

But the thing that really bothers me is that he doesn't show up for important votes and seems unwilling to stand up when there are hard issues to decide. He missed the votes on Kyl-Lieberman and the funding bills that passed almost unanimously this past Thursday. I have read about the rumor that Sen. Reid misled him on Kyl-Lieberman, but he could have kept in touch with the Senate to see if it was coming up for a vote. There is simply no excuse for this.

I would love for Obama to be more direct in his 'attack' against Hillary. What is obvious to some may not be obvious to most. I would love, love, love for him to say that Hillary is trying to seduce us with Bill and not to buy into it. And if we looked at Bill's wife as a candidate and not a Clinton - She ain't all that! If Hillary wasn't married to Bill, she would've been history long ago. Bill, Schmill....I totally believe that Obama is much smarter than Bill ever could be and would make a much better president. Even though some argue Obama's emphasis on voting against the war is a non-issue and being over- played, I disagree. He couldn't be fooled then when everyone else was - unlike Senator Clinton and her husband (who I'm sure she consulted) - nor was he afraid to break against convention. It's a very important point and a very big issue! Obama is brilliant!

If the Democrats who win are no better than the Republicans it makes no difference to me.

Drug warriors are all right-wing Jim Crow creeps.

I want the leading Democrats, Obama and Clinton, to stop pandering to the Jim Crow right-wing of america by supporting the drug war. Until the do that they are no different from the worst of the GOP.

As America's leading organization of elected local executives, who represent the social interests of a vast majority of urban America, put it this summer:

"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the United States Conference of Mayors believes the war on drugs has failed..."

While Obama and Clinton call for more police and prisons to further oppress and disenfranchise the urban poor and mminorities of America Republican Ron Paul is being CHEERED BY BLACK AUDIENCES for stating: "We don't have to have more courts and more prisons. We need to repeal the whole war on drugs. It isn't working." He concluded: "That is one way you could have equal justice under the law."

The Democrats who echo these sentiments are vilified and marginalized by the Jim Crow Party regulars. Mike Gravel last week said: "The war on drugs is the most ridiculous thing going on." But Hillary and Barack are calling for more police and more prisons.

Have no fear Centauri! Fear will continue to keep us back! Vote for Obama!

It's an unsettling feeling to know that people will vote for Hillary just because they believe Obama, although he is the best candidate for the job, has no chance because he is black! What a sad country!

And, yes Hillary is a woman, but we all know Hillary voters are only voting for Bill. So, therefore, Bill=Hillary and does not equate to voting for a woman. Because if Hillary had not been married to Bill, this would be a non-story. Would she even be in the senate?

I guess we fearless will have to show everyone what living without fear truly means. The power of the movement, the power of change!!!!! Obama '08!

I agree with Obama that Clinton represents the status quo in American politics. Her support by Rupert Murdoch should make he persona non grata among thinking liberals/progressives/leftists.

But Obama is no better. No better at all.

I wrote more about this after Obama appeared on the Daily Show and asserted the empty claim that he is challenging conventional wisdom. Hell, his legislative record is the stereotype of conventional wisdom.

His support for drug war policies is flat out counter-productive, ill-thought out and detrimental to Black and poor Americans oppressed and politically disenfranchised by the drug war.

Obama's solution to the crime problem that has plagued New orleans since Katrina is to send in more drug police to politically disenfranchise and incarcerate more of the poor people who have no other economic opportunty in that racist community other than to sell drugs.

SEE: Barack Obama: A Stereotype of Conventional Wisdom
http://aleftindependent.blogspot.com/2007/08/barack-obama-stereotype-of-conventional.html

AND:
Sen. Obama's solution for post-Katrina poverty; police oppression
http://aleftindependent.blogspot.com/2007/08/sen-obamas-solution-for-post-katrin.html

I would love nothing more than to vote for the first Black president ofthe United States. But first and foremost I vote for people who will do no harm. Obama's drug war support makes him no better than Hillary Clinton and her promise to return America to the world record prison population days of her red neck Jim Crow husband Bill Clinton.

I live in New Orleans. When you have a crisis crime problem directly related to drug wars and you have it threatening an entire community, you send in more police.

This is no time to get down to a sociological study of the problem and figure out rehabilitation programs. Although not opposed to these programs, we are in an emergency situation.

"I live in New Orleans. When you have a crisis crime problem directly related to drug wars and you have it threatening an entire community, you send in more police."

Wrong.

To solve the street crime problem you send in massive drug rehab to get the people who commit most of the street crime out of their need to support themselves this way.

Obama promised a few more DEA agents AFTER he is elected. Nothing in the mean time.

All that you do when you criminalize more and more already poor people is make them more dependent on crime for economic sustenance. It is counter-productive to reducing crime. See the Boston Globe column, "Life Sentence"
http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v07/n1092/a10.html?84489

This is real and proven economics.

Violence and crime went through the roof during the 1920's alcohol prohibition. Crime and violence receded in the ten years after prohibition even though the entire nation was living through the GREAT DEPRESSION.

The Democrats and Roosevelt ended the alcohol prohibition in part to help re-inflate the economy and tax coffers. New Orleans could use having its tax base and economy re-inflated while having crime reduced and more people restored to economic viability by ending the drug war NOW!

Arianna Huffington quantified this issue in an Op/Ed in the LA Times in March of 2007, The War On Drugs' War On Minorities http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v07/n371/a07.html?79584

"A 2000 study found that 1.4 million African American men -- 13% of the total black male population -- were unable to vote in the 2000 election because of state laws barring felons access to the polls. In Florida, one in three black men is permanently disqualified from voting. Think that might have made a difference in the 2000 race? Our shortsighted drug laws have become the 21st century manifestation of Jim Crow."

It is hard to remember that these two front runners are lawyers since their arguments seem to dance around the points they are trying to make. Probably some judge is needed to tell them, let's get to the point councillor.

If there is some policy or direction that is at issue, "Where is the beef?" This timidness of trying to unfold the logic of each of their positions based on what facts they are using is not helping to decide on their candidacy. If we get more of this back and forth non substantive rhetoric, we, the voters and citizens, will pay for it after one of them is elected.

Yes Barack is right and Brezinzki is a very intelligent man that knows what the fuck he is talking about.
The game here goes back to Howard Dean and the reason he lost is because Bush and Clintons had a deal that they would give George Jr, Kerry to run against in 04. so he could win and set it up for Killary in 08.
So they sabatoged Howard Dean, because if he won, then Hillary wouldn't have had a chance. They used the MSM as well as the swiftboaters to do this.
The Clintons are just as evil if not more than the Bush's and our country doesn't need more division, corruption, wars and misdeeds. Our country as well as our world need a powerful dose of healing and it is going to take some one new to do it. Not the same old shit and same old people.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:22 AM on 10/01/2007

I'm not sure if the Clintons played a hand in both Dean and Kerry's demise to the extent you cite, since the memory of Clinton's impeachment wasn't as far removed as it is today. However, it is clear that the Clintons have seemed only slightly involve in helping Dems during the past 2 elections.

But what does now seem clear is that Gore's and Kerry's lost did make Hillary's run for presidential a reality, that could not have happened if either of these 2 won. Did this create the motive for the Clintons to lie in the background and manipulate for their own selfish ends? Who knows for sure. But, just because it appears so, does not necessarily mean it is so.

The DNC would seem to have little to gain by condoning the Clinton's power play, especially the Clintons were running folks from the party.

But again, what do I know.

Again, if ALL of us INSISTED that OUR kids are again taught civics class (about The Constitution), and also that everyone should serve the country for 2 years(peace corp, habitat, army,...whatever), the legislators would HAVE to adopt it and it would start the ball rolling in the correct direction.

Eventually, geopolitical resource wars for corporate profits would cease, America's kid's dying for bought-off liars would stop and votes cast supporting the largest campaign donors would again be viewed as criminal bribery.

The path forward begins with each of us, how WE vote, what WE tell OUR representatives,...
and if they refuse to become enlightened how WE vote them away. A few small steps WE can ALL agree on will make a huge difference to how OUR government again does OUR business.

Do NOT be afraid to make your own changes to make something better, it's far smarter to fear the changes other's force upon you because YOU weren't paying attention.
