Congress Again Extends Abstinence-Only Funding

Congress again has extended funding for a core abstinence-education program, sparking protests from sex-education advocates who want Democrats to pull the plug on such programs.

"Their actions defy logic and common sense," said James Wagoner, president of Advocates for Youth.

First, Congress funds what Mr. Wagoner called unproven abstinence programs. Then it commissions a study that shows they don't work, but lawmakers ignore those results and continue to fund the programs.

"Teens deserve better policies. We all deserve better leaders," said Mr. Wagoner, whose organization stresses rights, respect and responsibility in sex education.

Did you ever hear of the monks, nuns, and priests of days gone by. They actually engaged in "inappropriate touching" and other activities. In modern times, some of the priests who professed chastity actually engaged in "inappropriate touching" of little boys.

Of course, simplistic statistical statements can say anything. Did these abstinence advocates ever hear of the 1960s? It was a wonderful time for an activity called SEX. The activity called SEX is something that is very human.

In conclusion, the article provided a great laugh. The authors of these abstinence programs have to be contributers to THE ONION. Furthermore, I found no relationship between Mathemaica, Inc. and the product Mathematica of Wolfram Research. It's just like the FUD of the fundies to make it look like Dr. Stephen Wolfram supports their "science" and "mathemati­cs."

Furthermore, these FUD fundies do not deserve a tax exempt status. Let their tele-mega-churches and propaganda machines (aka think tanks) be taxed.
