I Like ItI Don’t Like It

2007-10-02-hillary.jpgEd. note: HuffPost Reporter Sam Stein has analysis of Hillary's numbers here.

Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-NY) presidential campaign raised about $27 million dollars over the past three months, with $22 million for the primary, the Huffington Post has confirmed.

The campaign also reports that 100,000 new donors contributed to the campaign in Q3.

Hillary's latest fundraising numbers roughly match her total from Q2, a unique feat -- all the other Democratic candidates reported a sharp drop in fundraising this quarter. Clinton's total was substantially greater than Sen. Barack Obama's (D-IL) $20 million take, giving her campaign its first quarterly fundraising victory in the race thus far.

Clinton's campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle told supporters in an email, "This is the moment when you showed that America is ready for change and that you are ready to make history. This is the moment when your dedication defied the skeptics."

UPDATE: Obama press secretary Bill Burton responds in a statement to the Huffington Post: "More than 350,000 Americans have already signaled the kind of change they want in Washington by contributing to the Obama campaign. We have raised a historic $74.9 million in dollars available for primary spending, without transferring one cent from any other campaign fund and with no money from federal lobbyists or PACs."

Clinton has raised $62.6 million that can be used during the primaries, plus $10 million transferred from her Senate account.

The future of democracy in the USA looks pretty dismal. I hope that some dark horse will appear soon in all parties.

THIS STINKS.

The "natives" is just a modern term for a very varied group of civilizations spread over a continent. Indians of the times from canada to mexico did not feel they were indians, neither the "same peoples" and were competing violently for the occupation of areas as the europeans did. All of our tribes in america or in europe were more or less forced into Christianity I for example am Basque and we were forced into Christianity on the 8 century and "our land" is part of spain and france.

the way european treat "natives" was not different than the way they teated themselves or the way indians treated others tribes. War, killing, kidnapping stealing, force conversions have been the rule not the exception. Most of the tribes Europeans dispossessed took over this areas by defeating former dwellers most of the time in a relatively recent past For example the Aztecs a relatively small group took over the nahualt civilization just 150 years before the arrival of Cortez and have just killed 30000 "enemies" weeks before the received the Spanish as gods. The spanish who were a mixture of peoples both natives to spain and invaders from africa and asia had just stole the muslins land who did the same to the Visigoths 7 centuries before.

Historic revisionism in a modern moral context is only possible because the easiness of the genocide of the natives does not justify an epic narrative.

Great, so now Hillary is BY FAR leading the polls in my book as the most likely candidate to be beholden to special interest groups, not the least of which is the healthcare industry, from which she has received more money than andy candidate, democrat or republican.

Anyone who wants to support her MORE because she's raised all this money has got it backwards.

I'm not saying you have to pick someone who can't raise $100, but I don't think that applies to Obama or Edwards (especially Edwards who'd be the strongest candidate in a general election, unlike an incredibly polarizing Hillary).

The charge that Hillary is slippery on the war is simply not tenable. The fact that Obama comes back to her vote for the war again and again merely shows how bankrupt his campaign is.

Hillary's war vote is simply explained. On the basis of the information available to her, she made a SUBJECTIVE decision to support the war. It turned out that the information she was given was OBJECTIVELY false. On that basis it would be ludicrous for Senator Clinton to apologize for vote which she now admits was objectively wrong. It's time Obama quit flogging a dead horse.

Nice try.
You forgot to mention that Obama is LEADING in Iowa. Once Barack wins in Iowa, her bubble will burst, and it will be the start of a downward trend that she and 'all the queens men', and all of Norman Hsu's dirty money will not be able to stop.

When, and if, hillary wins Iowa, you come back and tell me. Until then, say a prayer, or two, because she is going to need it in Iowa.

I went to an Obama rally. There were 20,000 people there. He never mentioned Hillary's war stance once. He focused on what his stance was.

Many americans saw the MSM drumbeat to war for what it was. Noone, including the UN, could verify the existence of weapons. They were BEGGING for more time. There was never an immediate threat. SHE DIDN'T EVEN READ TEH INTELLIEGENCE REPORTS!!!!! Hillary's decision shows lack of judgement. We don't need that type of experience in office.

"the information available to her"? give me a break. others found the courage and brains to see through the lies, and she could not--or would not, more like it. Besides which, she's got other problems too numerous to mention here...including one over-arching one: half her party can't stand her, and her "unfavorables" are just as high amongst the rest of the voting public.

Hillary Clinton has dominated in all fronts Public opinion and now money politics is a science today and she has mastered it.

The last ABC poll 53% Clinton Obama 20% more than double Ramusen 44%, 22% double.

after the health care Tv marathon she has consolidated her lead

I wish she would select Obama for VP but her lead is too strong and she will be looking for power control no independent thinking.

Obama is leading Clinton in Iowa 28 percent to 22 percent. He's also the only Democratic candidate that can beat all three Republican candidates. Clinton still trails Rudy.

To the Hillary campaign staffers who read this blog: we see through your desperation. You can use national polls all you want but it doesn't chage the Iowa poll. You can tout your record fundraising all you want but Obama raised his cash from citizens NOT lobbyists and PACS. And shame on you for counting $10 million you transferred from your own account.

Please stop forcing this "Inevitibility" campaing down our throats. We see right through it.

Obama has no chance against Hillary. She and Bill have the Democrat Party in their pocket. Just wait until it gets a little closer to primary day. Bill and Hillary will smear Obama like jam on toast.

Bill and Hillary have been planning her ordination since Bill was in the White House. And she will not ask Obama to be VP for fear he would overshadow her. She will pick Richardson to wrap up the Hispanic vote. Might as well get us to Ms. President Hillary and of course I would start practicing living on 70% of you current take home pay because after Hillary is finished your take home pay will be greatly reduced. Enjoy Liberals I saw this coming when Bill was in office and planned financially for their reign. I will have virtually no TAXABLE income, but I will have a substantial income.
I want to thank the Clintons, Kennedys, Edwards, Kerrys and other ultra rich Democrats that set up all the loopholes that allow me (and them of course) to not pay income taxes. Remember Democrats always HAVE to raise taxes on the middle class because that is where the TAXABLE income is located.

This thread is so long I won't go back to my previous post. But I said "MARK MY WORDS" and in next several hours the Clintons will back track on the numbers and will give some explanation why the real number is less than what they reported. They said something like "Hsu's $850.000 is included because the fec requires us to report it while it is under investigation" WOW!

I dont think it is over; stay tuned until the other "shoe" drops.

I love HuffPo. It is one of my favorite daily visits. But I was a bit tweaked for some reason when I saw that Obama was advertising on the site. I then thought, "well at least they are publishing positive articles on Hillary and are being fair and balanced." I then went to the Hillary record fundraising article and noticed that their was an "Update" statement from Obama's camp.

Now, I understand that HuffPo needs to make money...but I find it a bit of a conflict of interest that it is running an advertisement for one of it's leading content subjects.

I think HuffPo needs tread lightly in this area or risk losing credibility with solid supporters. Especially posting "Updates" to articles when the people attributed with the Update are advertisers.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:04 AM on 10/03/2007

Precisely! I pointed this out a coupla days back! You should see the goo-goo articles that have shown up since Barack Hussien started advertising here! Man! They are beyond laughable! How a woman cried, how one screamed: "Oh Barack what have you done to me"?! Yikes! A Meg Ryan moment in Harry met Sally?!

The desperation is apparent ...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:28 AM on 10/03/2007

Precisely my point. HuffPo is clearly endorsing Obama. Adrianna was preaching how Diva Oprah will "credibility" will translate votes for Obama. That's fine - but at least, they should provide balance advertising for Hillary.
.
Obama's camp is so desperate, I suspect their backers and HuffPo are in a mission to unfairly saturate this site with unbalance ads primarily backed by the Diva.
.
Adrianna should stick with her progressive image, or lose her credibility. The Diva should go back being the "Talk Show Queen". This Diva, is Obama's major contributor and advertizer. She, who has not voted since 1988, is suddenly endorsing Obama. The Diva is so desperate to have a man - wants to be Mrs (pseudo) Obama.

I'm glad HuffPo posted Obama's response. That is what any responsible news agency should do.

Obama maked it clear that Hillary's cash included $10 million transferred from another account and $ from lobbyists and PACS.

I was glad to know this because I think PACS and lobbyists have too much power in politics. Hillary is already bought.

The MSM reported this as though Hillary legitimately won the fundraising effort. If you want more of the same coverage go watch the MSM.

Otherwise, HuffPo deserves the benefit of the doubt.

I LOVE YOU HUFFPO!

Exactly.

The big news is that Obama has raised 75 million dollars v. Hillary who has raised 62 million dollars. Throughout the media, Hillary's 10 million dollars transfered from her senatorial account was routinely added to her figures for the 1st and 2nd quarters, so that it appeared that her totals were larger.

Apparently, the media wanted to create the impression that Hillary who they had determine was the winner, was leading in money totals. In this article, it states that this is the 1st time the Clinton campaign has outraised the Obama campaign, which underscores how bias has been used in the media.

The 10 million that Hillary is legally able to use for the primary election was not given to her to run for president. So thanks HuffPo for at least breaking out the numbers to get to the truth.

Rahm Emauel, James Carvelle, and the Clintons will keep Republicans in office. What the republicans have on these people is beyond us. For Bill Clinton to come out and say Obama doesn't have enough experience is a prime example of their duplicity. Why was that comment even necessary? If he keeps running off at the mouth; it leaves me with my ammunition: He's beginning to remind me of W.C. Fields! Just thinner now.
