Jury Finds Isiah Thomas Guilty Of Sexual Harassment

AP:

A jury decided Tuesday that New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas sexually harassed a former top team executive, subjecting her to unwanted advances and a barrage of verbal insults, but also said he does not have to pay punitive damages.

After an ugly, three-week trial, the verdict gives Thomas a partial victory in the $10 million lawsuit filed by Anucha Browne Sanders.

I would be very leary about anyone claiming
sexual harassment these days. I have seen cases after cases among my subordinates and
peers claiming such incidents because they could. Even tried to get me involved. I have
seen many take a fall because of outrageous claims and plenty so called witnesses. Being female I am glad I am not a man in today's working environment.

Thomas comes off as a real prick. I don't doubt that the plaintiff suffered emotionally and professionally.

But $11,600,000? That's just plain ridiculous.

oh no, she deserves the 11 million.
You see, feminists are only tough when they demand to be in the army, police, firehouse and they get lower testing requirements.
but.....loooordddy...if a man says bad things to them in an office, they just can't handle it. they become little flowers......
so they need 11 million, so they can rebuild their fragile lives.

Poetic justice that the Knicks lose another one because of a lousy defense.

It seems to me that every time Isiah was on camera he came across as being arrogant. His demeanor on the stand

was no different. He obviously was not being sympathetic with the whole situation.
Do you believe the Isiah Thomas' demeanor of arrogance contributed to the Jury's decision? ----->

Gotta agree MagisterLudi.................
With his constant kissing with Magic Johnson at centercourt during their heydays (Laker/Piston play-off games) I was always wondering?

Thomas is a fine example of why some ballplayers, when retired, should just open up a car dealership. This guy couldn't coach the dream team, let alone the nightmare squad called the Knicks.

OK, where are the 'Society of Victims' parrots. Why as usual they are sitting in a large room, each in his self made spacious cage, with the large door wide open, repeating the Societies mantra,

So, again, we have the issue of credibility of a high profile leader. The Knicks and Thomas have proclaimed their innocence and vow to overturn the verdict on appeal. The leadership issue, though, is whether Thomas’ credibility (i.e., possessing competency and displaying consistency and congruency in words and behavior, such that others have a deep confidence in his abilities and character) has been harmed such that he cannot effectively lead. That question won’t await the lengthy appeal process. It may have already been answered, and only those close to the team know for certain. Sure, one can wonder if Thomas is really all that competent given the way the team has floundered in recent years, both with him as head of basketball operations and last season with him as head coach. But the question that arises with this verdict is whether he has in fact met the second test of credibility, that is, displayed consistency and congruency in words and behavior, such that others have a deep confidence in his abilities and character. By a preponderance of the evidence, a jury says no. Let's see what Thomas' constituents (i.e., players, employees, advertisers, and fans) say. For more on credibility and leadership, see my just released book, The Source of Leadership.

You can say that again. When this guy was a player he was a punk. He has always been a cocky jackass and I am glad that he was nailed. He said it was acceptable for a black man to denigrate a black woman the way he did because it was part of his culture. We are all part of the same culture moron and it is not acceptable to denigrate any woman of any skin color in the workplace. Period!

I would hope Thomas will learn from this but every time he has been caught in the past it is always someone else's fault or he is misunderstood. I only wish they had held him personally responsible for most of the financial damages.

Hey Isiah remember when you said that Michael Jordan would never be as good as you? Another good call from a boorish creep.
07:38 PM on 10/03/2007
You got it. What fool would get on the stand and say something assinine like white men can't but black men CAN abuse black women? WTF?? That piece of s**t got precisely what he deserved.

Guards working in Iraq for Blackwater USA have shot innocent Iraqi civilians and have sought to cover up the incidents, sometimes with the help of the State Department, a report to a Congressional committee said today.
Do you believe the U.S. government in any way helped in the cover up of Blackwater reckless behavior? -----> http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=622.

The MSG president is a bigger moron. Aside from hiring Thomas, Dolan cheerfully admitted under oath to firing the plaintiff in retaliation for her complaining, and without consulting attorneys first. Case closed.
