Bush Vetoes Bill To Expand Children's HealthCare

Associated Press :

President Bush, in a confrontation with Congress, on Wednesday vetoed a bipartisan bill that would have dramatically expanded children's health insurance.

It was only the fourth veto of Bush's presidency, and one that some Republicans feared could carry steep risks for their party in next year's elections. The Senate approved the bill with enough votes to override the veto, but the margin in the House fell short of the required number.

It is amazing to me that we can pay Blackwater three to four times the wages our soldiers get and allow them to get away with criminal activity. SCHIP, a health care program for the children of working families has been around since 1997. It is not "socialist medicine" or a hand out. This program was (is) in existence (but not for long?) for a legitimate need. The Bush veto and act of child abuse will cause this program to EXPIRE.

Very soon, 6.6 American million children actively enrolled will lose their health care.

Money for two weeks of useless war in Iraq could fully fund this program. And Congress still has the ways and means to turn this crime around?
