I Like ItI Don’t Like It

2007-10-03-edwards.jpgBombs away. David "Mudcat" Saunders, a campaign consultant for John Edwards, is out on the campaign trail in North Country in New Hampshire and not holding anything back:

The official name of this campaign swing is "economic fairness for the North Country," but he and Cooter and the boys call it the " 'Let's help John Edwards screw those who screwed us tour,' " Mudcat says. Us being rural America.

And who would that be?

"Who screwed us?" he asks, voice rising in incredulity. "The Clintons screwed us." And, he adds, "Anybody that says different is delusional."

The Clintons did it with NAFTA, and the Bubbas know it, Mudcat says. Why, it's no wonder Hillary once sat on the board of Wal-Mart.

"The slogan of Wal-Mart is the same as what the Clintons' policy has always been for rural America: 'Always less,' " he says. (Actually, Wal-Mart's former catchphrase was "Always low prices," but you get Mudcat's drift.)

Sure Billery wants to screw Edwards over, the O-Bomb-i-nation machine sans Vasoline is in line too.

All the dirty tricks crap in positioning for power is not respectable behavior. They all want to eliminate their competion within the party but the real test is when the party is pitted against the other parties who do not have the same basic objectives.

Common ground is lost because the front runner's egos are bigger than their ability to be diplomatically able leaders.

You tell 'em, Mudcat! This country is ready for a Populist president.

Keep nailing that language to frame this 2008 election around this War on the Middle Class that faux Dem Hillary is leading as the subprime lending scandal, NAFTA and outsourcing drive our citizens out of their homes and jobs.

Of the Dem candidates (declared and undeclared), Edwards is the only one isn't a sycophant or a hubris stuffed elitist. Who better than a trial lawyer for president to know where the corporatist bodies are stashed?

"It's Not the Economy, Stupid. It's Your JOB!"

Not True there 2Truthy. Try Bill Richardson's site. Perfect by no means but far better than the Hill and Billary show or Barak (all kneel and genuflect) "Wimp On Parade" circus. I could live with Edwards but I simply will NOT support ANYTHING with "Clinton" attached to it. NADA, zero balance, no, never.

Back at you Lawyeredup: I guess you were not listening when she said "Lobbyist were people just like us". Well, that to me means WAshington insiders who line the politician's pockets as she refuses not to take lobbyist's donations.

Maybe she did help get Bill elected, but being first lady is not a qualification for her being president any more than spending tax payer's money to globe trot all over the world for photo ops.

There are plenty of wonky smart people in the world that are idiots.

If she is so damn smart, maybe she could actually start answer questions that are ask of her instead of hedging on them.

I am not so idiotic that I would base a vote on whom I would like to have a beer with. It didn't work out so well the last time, did it.

I just think Obama is smarter than she is and has the much needed forward looking hopes that this country needs now. He has much more experience than she with his time in the Illinois state congress. He at least will talk with our enemies and hopefully keep us any more wars and killing of our kids.

Edwards is our best hope for change-He's smart enough to understand the serious problems, get to the solutions and fight for them-I am liking my candidate more evry day-I think there's alot of buyer remorse out there for Hillary supporters-if she does become president, everyone will suffer-things will not change from what we have now-she just doesn't have the integrity to care about the country more than herself.

ALWAYS LESS is Walmart's wage policy.

If, Ms Hillary wasn't married to Mr. Bill would we be considering her a viablr canidate for the White House...???

How much experience do you need to have for continual serial bad judgments and duplicitous triangulations...?

I'm still asking...again...

"...does 'sleeping' with Mr. Bill or 'creeping' with their corporate enablers suppose to make you smarter, count as national service or just give you the right kind of experience to make more bad judgments...!?!?"

Just asking...still...!?!?

Sounds of despiration from a faultering campaign. Is there are legal or ethical problem? None mentioned and I dont see one. Was the Edwards campaign out manuvered? It seems so, but isn't this the vetting process for President? ...But tell us more: 'Inquiring minds want to know...

Out manuvering? Out BSing maybe two biggest things I have yet to see mentioned in this thread 1) In ability to say she made a mistake in voting for the war with Iraq. Sounds to me like Georgie Boy reincarnated, he has yet to acknowledge this mistake and seeks to expand it to Iran. Hillary is in lock step with him as her Kyle-Leiberman vote went.

2) This monarchy thing we are tying ourselves down to. In 8 years who will continue the dynasty ruling Juna or Chelsie? Somehow after actually reading Thomas Paine's Federalist Papers and the thoughts of Jefferson and Franklin I will bet our founders are spinning in their graves.

Especially since the other political dynasties in our history [except the Bushes and Clintons] were based on merit and achievement, i.e., somebody who actually achieved something other than having good family connections. John Adams and John Quincy Adams were both brilliant men. J.Q.A. was minister to Russia around the age of-what was it-? 14, 15? Benjamin Harrison [grandson of W.H. Harrison] was a civil war hero, I believe. The Roosevelts were only distant cousins.
Actually, the two present meritless dynasties really owe their pre-eminence to one man-Ronald Reagan. George I became president completely because he was the Gipper's v.p. Clinton only became president because George I was such a lousy and uninspiring president. George II only became president because he was the son of the Reagan v.p. who became president due solely hanging on to R.R.'s coattails. Hillary is only in the running because she happened to marry the guy who became president because R.R.'s v.p., who became president, had a son and that son was such a lousy president. See how they complement each other? Typical dynastic contretemps. Thanks, Dutch!

Thomas Paine did not write the Federalist Papers. John Jay, James Madison and Alexander Hamiliton wrote them. Did you mean "Common Sense?"

We all have to vote for Edwards. Don't be discouraged that someone who will leave Bush's tax program in effect gets the most millions in their campaign chest. Elementary, my dear Watson.
But if you and I vote for the right person and we make it a point to get someone else to vote for that person...None of the polls, and no millions from the military-industrial business complex can beat the huge amount of people that recognize Edwards agenda as their own, if they can only stick to their beliefs and not rush to be on the wuinning side, thinking that Clinton or Obama is "or only sure hope...to beat THem."
Then we can guarantee the media a chance to make us SICK comparing Edwards's victory to that of Truman over Dewey.

That sucking sound you hear is not just coming from the Oval Office. It came from NAFTA the WTO and the other deals cut by the Clinton's "neoliberal" agenda. "Neoliberal" is a Milton Friedman idea for those who would confuse this term with anything a true Democrat would want.

Pobert Rubin was the brains of the Clinton agenda, as was Greenspan. These "free traders" eliminated all protection for workers. The neolib and the neocon are the same theories. The neocons just militarize these trade policies that outsource slavery to Indonesia, Indian and China where child labor produces your Nikes and Ralph Lauren clothes.

Reagan GOT THE NAFTA BALL ROLLING when he broke the Air Traffic Controlers Union.
The Air Traffic Controler would not stick togeather so they set and expample that all unions could be broken and they were.
You can Blame they for the destruction of the middle class they had not respect for the battles fought that got them a union in the first place.

I met a PATCO guy. He taught himself electronics
and has a small fire/burglar alarm installing business. He was a Republican because with the Air Traffio Controller paycheck he thought he was rich.

What he learned was if you are pulling a paycheck the Republicans think of you as a peasant, even if it is six figures.

He is going to vote for Edwards like I am.

"Reagan GOT THE NAFTA BALL ROLLING when he broke the Air Traffic Controlers Union."

That was one of Reagan's most reprehensible acts (well I guess it pales to what he had done to people in South America in the 80's, but still reprehensible). Working people ever since are working more an more for less and less or no gains.

PATCO => more money in the hands of the greedheads => increased greedhead control of government => greedier policies (NAFTA, WTO etc.) What part don't you understand?

Sure, some sort of globalization is inevitable, but the kind Clinton advanced is skewed towards: (1) people who already have money, and (2) connivers. And Hilary is BRAGGING that her administration is going to channel that of Pants-down.

ClintonS screwed us? The last time I looked, Hillary never held office until after NAFTA was passed. Her sitting on the board of Wal-Mart is not a problem for me. Why would it be? She was careful in picking her battles and effective in acheiving what she could. Yes, they were modest accomplishments but hey, it was Wal-Mart.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:39 PM on 10/03/2007

Maezeppa, you right. It should say "Hillary will screw us.". Check the issues. Hillary is anti-union. If the USA joins anything it should join EU and start paying us in Euros. I could us the months paid vacation that Europeans get.

QUIT NAFTA JOIN THE EUROPEAN UNION.

NAFTA, we don't hafta.

With all do respect. If you are going to embrace Clinton you have to embrace all of her which includes Bill's legacy-the good and the bad. She claims her experience comes from her time as first lady but she won't discuss specifics because of "marital privilege." Bill pushed for NAFTA and there were consequences; carry the burden like a big girl. I know she is use to having her way but some people are going to hold her accountable.

"Her sitting on the board of Wal-Mart is not a problem for me. Why would it be?"

Nice 'try', Maezeppa; read the following VERY CAREFULLY:

"Read an official biography of the Senator and you’ll find her six-month stint on a child-protection task force. Yet you won’t find her SIX YEARS on the board of directors of Wal-Mart Corporation. She may have earned a Grammy for “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child.” But it takes a Governor’s wife to provide cover for Wal-Mart’s profiteering off systematic wage-enslavement of children in its factories in South America.

Sam Walton called Hillary, “My little lady.” Sam paid her an eyebrow raising sum for a director - equal to 60% of her entire not-insubstantial salary as a lawyer. By contrast, Wendy Diaz (her real name), a 13-year-old in Honduras, was paid 25 cents an hour to make shirts for the “little lady’s” label.

Hillary’s rake-in was made possible by Wal-Mart’s 100% union-free operation and out-sourcing of 100% of its manufacturing, some to prison factories in China. Now, you could say that Hillary couldn’t hear the screams of the kiddies in Kamp Wal-Mart in Honduras. After all, she relied on the intelligence provided her by the President (of Wal-Mart)."

Jon Stewardt hit the nail on the head last night with his Chris Matthews interview. Chris said that his book was about the "path to success" and JOn answered that it "was a recipe for sadness".
"Winning" without caring what you want to win is a recipe for sadness.

The class war is almost entirely lost. We have this last shot to bring us back from fascism.

No, RogerHWerner, I will not vote Republican,3rd party or sit home. I care too much for this country to do that. This country needs saving and Hillary will not be the one. She is so indebted to the Washington establishment, she will always put them first and we the people second.

Maybe I should have said that I would not vote for Hillary in the primary. Isn't it a sad state of affairs that we have to "hold our nose" to vote, especially since there are other good Dem candidates to vote for.

I am for Obama and I think his appeal is the only one who can get cross over votes that will help us win the election. Hillary sure won't and will cause those, who like me can't stand her, to vote Republican.

I would like it if someone would tell me just what she has done to be so "qualified" except for riding Bill's coat tails all these years.

She really disgusts me with her phony crap! None of the other Democrats running do.

I think Biden is pretty phoney. Hillary is kind of honest, but she knows the people aren't listening.
Hillary admits she will commit US troops to protect Israel. She admits she supports US troops all over the world. Hillary admits she likes NAFTA.

Hillary is even talking financial responsibility. That is code for higher taxes on the middle class. Lower taxes on corporations.

Edwards will increase the capital gains tax.
Hillary will cut the capital gains tax.

Edwards says NAFTA just needs a bit of adjusting, but he wants to keep it in place as well. He said so last month on Ed Shultz's show. Or maybe I should say he admitted it, and join in the fun of characterization!

Capital Gains tax is already a low, low 15%. How much lower could Hillary go?

I looked up the Bush tax cut percentages for each income bracket on FactCheck.org.

Did you know the highest bracket got a little over a 6% decrease while the lowest bracket got between 1 and 2 % decrease? That means for $20,000 the higher bracket saved $1200 while the lower bracket at 2% decrease saved only $400.
