John McCain's remarks about America being founded in the Constitution as a Christian nation have opened him up to getting a lot more questions about his religion -- and the religions of other candidates.

At a meeting with the Spartanburg Herald-Journal editorial board, McCain was asked whether Mormons are Christians -- a serious issue with many evangelicals, and a potential pitfall for Mitt Romney.

"I don't know. I respect their faith. I've never frankly looked at the Mormon religion. I've known a lot of Mormons who are wonderful people," McCain said. "More importantly, I don't think it should be held against Gov. Romney. The fact that he's a Mormon should not be a factor in people's judgment."

Macain, you would not be answering this question had you not made the comment that in your mind a christian would make a better president.(I geuess the current occupanrt does not count.) The costitution specifically states that no religious test shall be applied to determine a persons eligibility for office. appparently something you did not know, which I find funny since as a senator you swore an oath to uphold the constitution. One can only imagine hwo much screwier this country would be with you in the whitehouse. Maybe you would round uip all the non christians and imprison them, for not conforming to your narrow minded veiw of the world.

I couldn't agree more! At one time, I actually had respect for this man and felt some sympathy for him when the busco (Karl Rove) smeared his name and credibility to enable their cabal to steal the Whitehouse.

Now I see what a pathetic, boot licking, non-leader he is. My turning point was when he, a Vietnam P.O.W. introduces legislation to abolish the torture of prisoners/citizens and we end up with execution orders to allow the continuation of the atrocities, in addition to the chimp's signing statement absolving himself of any culpability.

. . . and he (chimpy) has the nerve to hold a press conferencing continuing to deny torture, (we do what the American people want us to do to keep them safe) with a wink and a nod. How disgraceful.

I am aware of the total resistance of Reed and Pelosi to pursue impeachment, (. . . it will take too long), but believe you, me, unless we real in this reckless conduct we (that's right folks), you and me will paying for these atrocities,(along with the deficit), for many year to come.

Let's go to the source of Christianity to see who is a Christian: Jesus.

"For God so loved the world he sent his ONLY begotten son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life."

So believing that Jesus was God come in the flesh (as he himself explained, to the angst of many...even today) we become a disciple, hence Christian, with the assurance of everlasting life.

And we're free not to believe that. Without free will there is no true love.

I posted this information several months ago:

The historical facts indicate that the Mormons were persecuted largely because they set up their own banking system, printed worthless currency, and bought real estate in Missouri (the Mormon promised land) with the phony cash. This had a tendency to PO the bilked farmers who had spent a lifetime clearing the land. I can empathize. (see Kirtland Anti-banking company)

The LDS religion is based on the belief that resurrected Jesus came to North America to find two tribes of Jews. Edited from Wikipedia:

According to The Book of Mormon, the family of Lehiand Zoram traveled from the Middle East circa 600 B.C. to the Americas by boat. Nephi (Lehi's fourth son) overheard that his brothers were plotting to kill him, so Nephi and his followers left and went into the wilderness. The followers of Nephi called themselves Nephites. The followers of Laman (Lehi's oldest son) were called Lamanites.

Following the American visitation of the resurrected Jesus Christ the Nephites became the Mormons because they accepted the teachings of Jesus. However the Lamanites rejected Jesus so God marked the Lamanites with a darker skin color to identify them and their state of wickedness.

There has never been any credable archeolgical evidence uncovered that substantiates this story. We are currently experiencing the effects of an administration that give access to large groups of people with fringe religious beliefs. Can we surive another one?

Joseph Smith was a conman who hooked up with a Jew, Sidney Rigdon, to publish a book written by a man named Spalding as the Book of Mormon. Rigdon had stolen the manuscript from his printer father. About 20 years ago the LDS church paid $500,000. for a forged document that alleged to prove that fact.(The White Salamander Case)

If Mitt Romney truly believes that the resurrected Jesus came to North America in the 7th century in order to preach to two tribes of wandering Jews..then in my opinion he is too stupid to lead our country.

McCain used to make so much sense, and now every day in every way, he just doesn't make any sense at all. He's kind of young for full-onset senility. And stupid is something a person is born with, not something a person develops along the way. He doesn't know if Mormons are Christians? Hell, I'm an atheist, and I know Mormons are Christians. A person has to pay attention to the things around her or she'll look plenty stupid when someone asks the easy questions.

Kind of hard to know what a real Christian is since the bible is a mass of contradictions. Anyway, McCain's has got to be one of the most excruciating groveling melt-downs in American political history.

Makes one wonder what the hell he's doing in the race. Sometimes I think he believes his own crap.
He must not have much to do with his time.
When I look at his face when he talks I really believe that he will be stumping until him and his wife are the only votes he can count on.
My advice is that he better take the time to repair his image in his own state before the blind that support him wake up or learn to read.
