Chicago Sun-Times:

At a suburban Chicago community college, Republican Rudy Giuliani campaigned Thursday as if the primary elections were over and his only opponent for president was Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Giuliani, speaking at the College of DuPage, repeatedly slammed "HillaryCare" as "socialized medicine" and accused the Democratic frontrunner of supporting "socialism" for her proposal to give every American $5,000 when they are born as a college account.

The right accuses her of being a socialist. The left accuses her of being a neocon.

Obviously, she can't be both. In reality, she's probably somewhere in the middle.

And, maybe it's a good thing to have someone as president who's not so ideologically driven.

Actually, she can. The Clintons have the amazing ability to be whatever you want them to be.

It reminds me of the old Groucho Marx joke (I think it's Groucho Marx)..."These are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others."

Alas, Hillary seems driven only by the very latest polls. She tries to be all things to all people and just ends up alienating everyone.
The charade didn't hold up for John Kerry either.

If only she was a socialist ... and, by the way, give me some of that old time socialized medical insurance. Nothing in between. Let's let this country drift left a while. Not the socialist wolf at the door, but rather the socialist Santa Claus ... and about time, we tax-paying working folks have been funding socialism for the rich so long that it is time to have a real democratic socialism. As far as Hilary is concerned, she is not about to give us anything more than a corporatized HMO on steroids. The insurance industry coven holds a long, but finite, leash on that girl.

The GAO study found that 71 percent of foreign-controlled corporations operating in the United States paid no taxes in those five years[1996-2000] ; nor did 61 percent of US-controlled companies.

This is before the big tax cuts Bush gave to companies and the tax money given to bailout airlines, Banks and oil companies

The United States now has the world’s second highest corporate tax rate, second only to Japan’s. America’s corporate tax rate is higher than the rate in every European nation—even socialist welfare states like France and Sweden. This creates a significant competitive disadvantage for U.S.-based companies. But even if the United States were the world’s only nation, the corporate tax rate should be reduced.

Like communist and now even liberal, the term socialist has been rendered an accusation rather than an affiliation.
Socialists believe in strong infrastructure.
Louisiana and Minnesota could've used some socialism.

The USA could use some socialism, period.

Hillary Clinton preaching socialism?

I wish!!!

Mr Giuliani obviously has no experience of socialism, so he makes it into a convenient bogey-man to frighten the masses.

She will also show fiscal responsibility by cutting somewhere in the budget. She won't say where.

Bwahahahahahaha!

Look at what The Wall Street Journal, that Socialist newspaper, has:

"But the number of Americans who share some classic Democratic concerns has risen. Three-quarters of the population is worried about growing income inequality, Pew found, while two-thirds favor government-funded health care for all. Support for a government safety net for the poor is at its highest level since 1987, Pew said."

"...two-thirds favor government-funded health care for all."

Compared to that, Hillary is a Capitalist pig.

Looks to me, the only one mainstream on this issue is Kucinich.

So Rudy opposes US military personnel; police, firemen, & first responders; Social Security, Medicare, and Reagan's National Inheritance proposal.

I have news for Rudy. Various neocon govt. leaders in the U.K. got free university educations. There, the National Heath Service isn't seen as a priviledge for rich white people. It's a right for all citizens. Yes, it has problems (misdirected funds to too many managers). But the actual concept is followed worldwide.

But here it's "socialism." I wonder what he'd do if his wife was critically ill. And the one drug that could probably save her was denied by his health insurance co. How fast would he change his tune? It's the same crap. Rich white people will fight you to the death before they give up any of their money and power.

IN the country I live in Europe if a health insurar cancelled someone for a pre existing condition they would go to prison for a long, long time.

Rudy on socialism? Sounds like the old cousin fucker (excuse me) formerly incestuous spouse is nostalgic for the '60s, 60s, and 40s. His current wife, of course, used to make a living stapling dogs shut to demonstrate surgical equipment (after someone cut them open, natch). This is going to be a bad year for Republican pet owners--Mitt Romney used to tie the family dog on the roof of the car for family vacations, but at least we don't have Bill Frist to kick around (he used to catch stray cats and operate on them in his apartment in medical school).

Okay if it's socialism then hooray for socialism. Frankly I've looked on the world and our 'market' system has all of the evils supposedly suffered by those under 'socialized' medicine and none of the advantages.

1. Excessive paperwork and bureaucracy
2. Medical decisions made by bureaucrats and not doctors.
3. Runaway costs
4. Excessive delays
5. Lack of freedom of choice.

Our 'market' system covers fewer people, at greater cost, with worse outcomes than the 'socialized' systems. So again I say hooray for socialized medicine!

and thats why Canadians and Europeans (i.e. those with the means to do so) come to the US for quality health care. If socialized medicine is so good, why do they prefer to travel to the US?

Why are so many americans buying drugs from canada and mexico, going on surgery tours to countries like India if ours are so good?
Not all systems give everybody what they want, but ours leave 30% of the country without coverage at any time. No system is ever perfect, but ours is clearly falling behind those with national health care systems.

What you're saying makes no sense. Europeans know what our healthcare system is like. They come to visit here for other reasons, but definitely NOT for our rotten, sick, and dying healthcare system!

An that's exactly the point. Sure, there is top notch medical care available.....if you have the top dollars.

For the common John Doe though, health care in Europe is by far superior.

Here, it's all based on elite for elite.

Ha Ha there is nothing so wrong with Capitalism that a giant heaping tablespoon of Socialism won't help cure....It is called Democracy.
When poor people have a voice and the rich who control the means of production of wealth have to share the fruits they reap from the labor os others and the natural resources that belong to all.

Capitalist production, therefore, develops technology, and the combining together of various processes into a social whole, only by sapping the original sources of all wealth - the soil and the labourer.

Shrill a socialist, eh? Ha, if only. Benito Guiliani continues to play to the nearly-dead voter still peeking around the corner and under the bed and into his neighbor's window in search of commies. When will this cease? Why do fiends like Benito still believe this has any traction?

So far the only trick this pony has is to call Shrill a socialist and to pimp 9/11 at every op. What a pathetic human being. What a fine Repugnacan.
