The Gavel:

On Tuesday the Oversight Committee held a hearing on Blackwater, examining several incidents in Iraq involving the private security firm. One such incident involved a Blackwater employee who shot a guard of the Iraqi Vice President, apparently while drunk, and whether the Justice Department has truly been investigating as the State Department claims. The Blackwater employee was flown out of the Iraq within two days of the incident before a proper investigation could be conducted:

Today Chairman Henry Waxman wrote to Secretary of State Rice following reports that this Blackwater contractor, who was fired at the time, was hired by another private contractor to work in the region two months later. As Chairman Waxman writes in the letter, "Serious questions now exist about whether the State Department may have withheld from the U.S. Defense Department facts about this Blackwater contractor's shooting of the Iraqi guard that should have prevented his hiring to work on another contract in support of the Iraq War."

Take advantage of your 2nd amendment rights --they are... Buy assault rifles, kevlar vests , and lotsa rounds...

Cause when the shit hits the fan, I don't want murdering Fascist psychopaths to be the only ones with guns.... It takes Immense moral courage to be a monk in BURMA... but I want to take some of these fuckwads with me

You know guys like Blackwater are pre screened to for the ability to kill without hesitation or remorse.... not what you and I would consider "healthy human beings"

Think about it.... Think about Burma....

I often think about if this war ever ends there are going to be a lot of pre-programmed human killing machines wandering around out there at the very least. I doubt they're even covered by veterans PTSD programs.
Grreeaaat!!

Bu$h would be a great "Blackwater guy" except he is a coward and a nincompoop.

And, he's also a dry drunk and a cocaine addict!

He's also afraid of horses...so, he's a "fake cowboy", too.

Fake cowboy, fake president, what else is he?

Interesting photo.

We don't see many Blackwater pictures.

Are they all white guys?

Do they have access to steroids?

How much do they get paid?

We don't see many Blackwater pictures.

* Doesn't the name "Blackwater" Imply you don't see what's beneath the surface?

Are they all white guys?

* I honestly don't know --but I'd bet 99% are

Do they have access to steroids?

* I don't know.... but I bet they have access to *Anything* to keep them hyped up --meth, adrenaline... whatever....

I knew a Ranger, who did three tours in 'Nam... He used to tell me how Night Patrols used to shoot heroin and take LSD...

LSD Heightens visual and auditory acuity, Smack detaches you emotionally and quells anxiety, and together... it all keeps the killing tolerable, maybe interesting.... like a game....

How much do they get paid?

* About the same amount **a day** as an average Army Sargent makes a month. With far more frequent rotations "out country" --Blackwater has received almost a BILLION DOLLARS in contracts in the last six years.

So what? Bush & Cheney and the US Congress who are responsible for the deaths of not one but hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis are still in power and are still ruling America!

"Drunken Blackwater Guard Who Killed Iraqi Is Back In Iraq"

Hold on, hold on. Let's just think about this.

Isn't it better to have him over there than here? This guy sounds like he is out of control. And maybe someone who even Rush Limbaugh wouldn't want to piss off.

Instead of anyone feeling bad about his return to Iraq, perhaps we should feel bad about the fact that he wasn't able to take any of the chicken-hawks with him.

Is it better to have him over there than here? Only if you think American lives are more valuable than Iraqi lives, and I don't think you do. The best place for him is prison.

Exactly. When they come back they will do the same thing here, eventually they will end up in prison having added to the notches on their belts. Iraq war supporters seem to think Iraqis are not quite as human as we are. Just fine to kill Iraqis, not even as much accountability as would happen here it you killed you dog or cat. Our name as a nation is becoming mud, and we are earning the title.

From the picture you can see why Rep. Shays spoke so passionately about his Black Shirts. Shays splendid rhapsodizing took me back to Berlin, 1938. The Fuhrer saluting so proudly his goose stepping SS.

We claim to live in a just and democratic society whilst our government deliver tyranny.

Everyday there are nails being pounded in the coffin of this nation and the people of countries our government claims to liberate.

I'd like to know exactly what people expect when they twice install a racist regime in Wasington and call it "patriotism". The people who voted Bush and Cheney in did it whistling Dixie all the way. What they did'nt expect was to get screwed in the process because these stupid white folks thought that when he said "my frllow Americans" he was talking about them. Well, he was'nt...he was talking abour RICH white people...not you. So when he killed your kids, took your freedoms, taxed you to hell and back, and turned the government into BushCo, now all you screwed white folks are calling for his head...why does'nt Pelosi and Reid impeach? Why the hell should they? Why should they hurry up and skewer the ass you fools have been kissing for seven years. Why should they jump when you bark after you've derided them all this time? if you ask me, you people are getting just what you asked for when you vote a government in on the reason of keeping your white priviledge. Turns out, you not only don't get the priviledge, you get a tit in the wringer for your trouble.

I hate to admit it MrB, but you're right. I'm one of those stupid white folks who voted for Bush twice, and thought it was alright, not only to supress the vote, but to pander to the worst rednecks and moonshine sponges in order to build up the electorate. I did it for the reasons you say too. I and others like me could see America getting more diverse and it scared me, When you get everything from your job to a cheap car on the basis of your race, you wonder when it's going to stop and you're sure as hell going to listen to anything or anybody that's going to keep that in place...because your scared to compete in a mult-cultural world. You're right top tio bottom, MrB...about ALL of it. I was raised in a Republican family, but not this kind of disgusting, neo-con, psuedo-Klan party that panders to kooks and racists and warmongers, All I can say is...we got control of the government and fu**ed it up...we don't deserve it now...do better than us.

Clearvoice,

It's very difficult to admit to a mistake.I respect anyone who has the character to own theirs and come clean.

You are the first Republican I have witnessed on this site to do so.

Thank you for your honesty.

Fear is the Mind Killer.
And when a society fears collectively it is the harbinger of aggression, freedoms lost and ultimately tyranny and decline.

Let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness.
- James Thurber

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
- Marie Curie
---------------------------------

That said I think the people of Afghanistan and Iraq have a valid fear of our government and even more so when it comes to mercenaries the likes of Blackwater.

That is a real life or death fear. Not just a mental one.

Wow. Thank you for saying what you have said. It gives me some small hope for our country. The willingness to support all of the machinations that have gone on to maintain the past has got to be hard on the soul. Too many people have died. Too much blood has been spilled. Our children have been maimed. And they could really really care less. Our country has been looted, and I do not know if we will be able to recover. We are seen as the enemy in the eyes of the world, I am sure. How very sad for our country. I remember Barry Goldwater. I did not espouse his conservative doctrine, but he would never have put up with this state of affairs.

Woh there Clearvoice,

If you recall the Rushbo conversation that led to the "phony soldiers" imbroglio, the Rushbo decertified the first caller as a Republican when the fellow, saying he was a former soldier, spoke against the war. Consider yourself decertified. Like religious ritual, first decertification, then "phony soldier".

If Hillary becomes President, political healing will be held as more important than getting all these lies revealed. David Addington and the rest of the neocons, will be absolved of all crimes, carte blanche.

All of the washington system can be shut down very quickly and very effectively. Is that what the majority of Americans want and if it is what have they to put in its place if the place is liveable?

Oh by all means Norge, we must at all costs maintain the status quo. The unknown is a fearful place, and we have not known even a modicum of freedom, nor experienced a minutes responsibility, not a single second of dignity in oh so many years - the terror of such unknowns is paralyzing. No, we must not enter those awful realms, they are myths told us by people who rewrite history books. Those things are myths.

...dignity, honesty, honor...oh the horror!
