This bitch cheated other contestants who worked their whole lives to be in those competitions...I think a lot of blacks use steroids. They're not expensive and they sure make you big and intimidating, more importantly they cannot compete on a level playing field.
This is ripe....

Go ahead sweetie...be a man...

When success is measured by winning and cash you can rest knowing that honest will not even show.
And yet, in schools just like everywhere else, these sports celebrities are presented as models of achievment.
Pathetic.
Her appology was presumably for getting caught, right?

Gee Whiz - Cheaters !!!!. Another reason for the world to hate us.
.
I was traveling by myself in Europe (London, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Zurich and Vienna) for most of July. In Rome, I witnessed an incident where an American couple was "accidentally" pushed aside, her husband "accidentally" elbowed by 3 adults. A woman said something I didn't quite understand. They sped away.

Another incident in Paris where 2 Americans tourists run over by a pair of bicyclist who did not even bothered to stop. One shouted Cheaters, the other shouted Texan go home ! The Americans had minor injuries. They were wearing tees that says " Hello, From Texas USA. It dawned on me that Floyd Landis was making headlines in Europe on his alleged cheating at Tour de France.
.
In Vienna, they are not openly hostile, but you can see their animosity with their fleeting glances. Just to make sure, I purposely did not wear my tee that proclaims "Proud to be American" and did not go anywhere near a Mosque. I felt so terrible. I mean, this was getting to be dangerous for my health.
.
Finally, I felt relieve when I reached Lucerne, Scotland in a small village of Chamoix, where I stayed with my best friend from college. She tells me President Bush is not so popular there because of the war, and reminded me that Swiss maintain neutrality and do not wish to get involve in any invasion or war. The word "invaders" is just too repugnant for the Swiss. The truth is, I am on vacation to get away from these depressing headlines " Bush and HIS war ".
.
Besides that, she and her family were very graceful. I finally had a great time.
.
But still - At 27, I save for my vacations. I can't remember any time that I was not welcomed, and can't remember when I was not proud of being an American. Now, "american" is like a dirty word when you are abroad.
.
All I wanted was a good vacation. Maybe Asia next year ! Or may not after this incident !

Your probably unaware at just how self important you come across. Especially if you're some dumbass from texas.

Gez, are we suppose to feels sad for her. Keep in mind she denied using all along, even sued Victor Conte for saying she did. She also lied to FBI Investigators.

I say Bonds is next. His clain of never taking steroids is laughable. He tests positive for aphetamines and says he took pills from a teammates locker, he says his trainer gave him a cream to rub on (the clear), but he did not know what he was taking. I have to tell you Barry, Ignorance may help in a court of law, but the fact that you took the cream and the clear and it is a steroid, you have used steroids.

To watch some of her previous tapes where she so vehemently denies any wrong doing is very sad. I accept her apology. More importantly do the athletics who lost and played if fair? How sad for all of us who want to see good and honest women role models particulary in these very difficult times. Heroes should not be sought outside of ourselves; we must look within to find the heroe in each of us. I wish her well in a difficult time ahead and thank her for at least fessing up. This might help the next cheater think before doing something so stupid.

If no jail time for lying to Federal officials is good enough for Scooter Libby, should be good enough for Marion Jones. What says you, Junior Bush?

to thine own self be true. I cant imagine what its like to risk your health, income, respect to have to take a drug so you can be a teenie weenie fraction of a second faster. Good luck to her and her family

So what!
Gold goes to silver, silver to bronze and bronze to the 4th place winner.
GWB cheats in the national elections and lies the USA into war.
No one says or does anything about that.
Cheat in the Olympics?
Small potatoes.
This is the new rove/cheney/bush America.
Doesn't that make us look great?

She shows she has a conscience. She could have kept her mouth shut. She probably was pressured to take steroids when she was competing since most athletes take steroids and won't confess. I believe that after they take her medals away, they shouldn't charge her with a crime like authorities say they are considering.
02:11 AM on 10/06/2007
Oh, please. She did the Martha Stewart crime. She already pled guilty.

From what she said, she didn't know that what she took were steriods, was told that it was diet supliments and didn't find out til later what she took really was.

Still, she should have known better that to lie to the feds about it.should have told the truth when asked.
02:03 PM on 10/06/2007
I don't believe Jones didn't know she was using steroids. After all, the issue of drug enhancement was a major issue for the longest time. She was a already a well known athlete at that time. She should have known.
Bleeding hearts shouldnt even make that as an excuse.
.
She was also involved in a sophisticated "check scam " ? Geez whiz - She has criminality issues ? So whatever happens to her millions ? I hate to look further in her closet !
.
Jailtime will be good for her Redemption.

LOL. Good one

Having watched the video of her confession, I must say I was moved. Regardless of whether she did it to avoid a longer jail sentence or not, she came clean with class and I felt it was heartfelt. I feel badly for her and the shame that she brought upon herself.

Feel badly for her? How about the members of her team that may have to give up their "Gold" because of her actions. Feel "badly" for them.
12:27 PM on 10/06/2007
The whole team was probably on steroids. In fact, probably half the Olympians are on steroids or performance enhancers. Don't kid yourself--few athletes could compete at world class without them anymore. And frankly, I don't give a shit. Run fast, then die..it's your life. Children are being raped and murdered in Darfur, nobody cares. But Marion Jones took steroids? Apparantly, it's the end of the world.
06:46 AM on 10/06/2007
I do not feel sorry for her. The damage she did to so many other athletes is enormous. Lost endorsements for one. She did this out of selfishness and greed, must be a republican.

You explain to me EXACTLY what damage she did to other athletes. What? Competition is all about selfishness in one way or another. Of course to the flag-waving jingoist she has committed a transgression more horrible than contriving/maintaing a war under false pretenses.
YOU sound more like the republican to me!

Yeah, ESPN and all the other talking heads can spin and bitch about steroids in sports all day long. But think about this for a second. One of the top women sprinters lies FOR YEARS about steroids. And now suddenly yes it's all true. Why did she do it? Why do all the other people use as well? Greed. The profits (from endorsements and elsewhere) are so huge now that these people don't give a s**t. F**k, the press, my heath, I don't care.

Now you've got other users maybe saying, damn, am I next? And what about many retired NFL players who want bigger pensions? Why? Because they DESERVE it. Excuse me? No you don't. Back in the '60s and '70s, these guys made big money. NOBODY forced them to sign the contracts. But they did it anyway. Why? For the money, the groupies, the endorsements, the glory, all of it. They KNEW the risks involved in the job. And NOW Ditka and the others are saying that they're ENTITLED to this? No you're not. If we had universal health care from when Truman introduced it back in the late '40s/early '50s we wouldn't be having this conversation. But number one, that's evil "socialized" medicine. And two, playing in the NFL is a PRIVILEDGE, not a right. Universal health care is a human right. Not got a freaking priviledge for rich white people. Get your priorities straight.
01:01 AM on 10/06/2007
Are you an idiot? players in the 60's and 70's made peanuts compared to todays salaries. The avg nfl salary in 1970 was $23,000, and they had nothing like the endorsement deals these guys have now. What the nfl is doing to the players who built the league is despicable. At a minimum they need to take better care of the injured guys. There are plenty of stories out there if you look about some of the crap these guys have gone thru. The NFL's policy is to deny coverage for disability and long term medical care until a player is absolutely broke or dead. Ditka is absolutely right the NFL needs to take care of these guys. I am making a distinction between players who were injured playing the game and those who blew their money.
