I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace and slammed President Bush for vetoing the expansion of the children's healthcare program known as SCHIP. Speaker Pelosi made a critical point about how much the Iraq war is diverting American resources from important domestic priorities, pointing out that the cost of insuring ten million children for one year under SCHIP equaled the cost of funding the Iraq war for forty days.

Say it in a word, Nancy, 'impeach'. I know you
took it 'off the table', but I for one would
like to see you put it BACK on the table....and,
so would these people:

I'm with you, realitytrumpsbull. Taking impeachment off the table is bull. The reality is that the country, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights need Cheney-Bush to be impeached, convicted and removed from office. Then, and only then, can we pull our American troops out of the Cheney-Bush war and start looking after our children like a civilized country.
Of course, that would mean the Speaker becoming the President, and unfortunately, Pelosi doesn't appear to be up to the task.

Pelosi has lost the confidence of Democrats. She shows no leadership, no strength, and no courage. She is too cautious. It as if she expects wishful thinking to move mountairns!

I think you are wrong about this - this little community of commenters here on Huffpo and other leftie sites represents a tiny fraction of the American voters. It is my belief that the majority of the people understand how things work and can use their heads to figure out that Speaker Pelosi is doing her job in the tiniest of margins so she is trying to work in the middle to get things done. I know this may come as a shock to you but the majority of the people in America are in the middle and they understand that things have to be done with planning and consideration.

As always, too little too late, Pelosi!

Don't like the priority? Then cut off the GD funding!!!

Sorry granny, but you have proven your word is not worth the oxygen wasted saying it. Until you start acting like an opposition party leader you have ruined your credibility. And to think I was proud that you were Speaker. Boy do I ever feel like an idiot.

Pelosi is bought and paid for by AIPAC, just like Bush. There is no difference. I hope Cindy Sheehan kicks Pelosi out. The only reason Pelosi has her majority is because we wanted to end the war. And she hasn't done a damn thing except attend AIPAC conferences. This is the illusion of democracy. And Americans are finally waking up.

if you don't want to offer Iraqis a better way of life...

'...you should be ashamed of yourself...' ?!

get real.

I'd like to see a VOTE by the Iraqi citizens "Would you like Iraq to become the 51st state of America?".

Better idea: The whole world becomes a part of the United States and I am put in charge of doling out the dough as I see fit. People pay fealty to me while a select group of concubines bathe me in exotic oils and shower me with gold coins. Kind of a dream like yours ain't it.

Why should the Iraqi's become a State, if they did they would have to pay higher taxes and lose their healthcare.

Bush care for children of America, $35 billions for 5 years to insure children of America is EXPENSIVE but his war in Iraq is CHEAP. That's COMPASSIONATE CONERVATISM for YOU.

If we spend the kind of money Bush is spending right now in his WAR IN IRAQ, our country is much better economically and healthwise, but YOU US TAXPAYERS don't mean diddly squat for BUSH & CRONIES. Spending a single penny for you, will not make his family and friends rich.

The ONLY form of national health care the conservative plutocrats favor, is the one which first funnels TRILLIONS of taxpayer dollars through the national health insurance and big pharmaceutical companies from which BILLIONS in profit first may be siphoned.

What most Americans need is national health CARE...not national health insurance!

P.S. Just like Wal-Mart, shouldn't the largest purchaser of drugs (US Government) be allowed to negotiate better prices from the pharmaceutical companies? That seems reasonable doesn't it? Apparently not to the Bush Administration and the GOP. I mean really...What's up with that?

More hand wringing when she couldn't even keep her own party together on a vote. We all know Bush is an idiot, we also know he has stolen the Leader's lunch money again!

This is a misleading headline. I listened to the interview. Pelosi leaves me with a cold, clammy feeling. Talk about someone who came to the party unprepared? No forcefullness, no resolve, just rhetoric. If ever there was evidence of complicity, Pelosi embodies it.

And what is she doing on that "FAUX Network?" She is one of Bush's top ENABLERS! All who are able, should vote for Cindy. The rest, should contribute to her campaign. Pelosi is a little late in her accusations of Bush, and I for one do not believe a word she says! She is just another of those "Repuke Lites" like Clinton!

Granny Pelosi is a terrible disappointment to the people who voted for change.

If she didn't have the courage to do the hard things; specifically impeach or withhold war funding, she should not have taken the Speaker's position.

Being the first woman Speaker is meaningless when the first woman Speaker is totally inept and without accomplishment. In fact being the first woman Speaker, who has been a complete failure, is a detriment to other women who would like be taken seriously.

I don't know if her disaster as Speaker has inflated her ego in the way that she intended; but I don't think anybody takes her seriously

It is amazing that the posters here seem to forget that we did NOT send enough Democrats so that Pelosi could move to override a veto. That is reality. You can crab all you want but until we send more Democrats to the House and Senate, we are stuck. Some enlightened Republican senators and representatives have joined in the attempt to override the SCHIP veto, but so far, NOT enough in the Senate. So, my advice, quit whining and let's get busy to make sure those we elect make it possible to do what is needed to be done.

mari2JJ--
they're all bitching because they want INSTANT SUCCESS IN REVOKING THE DAMAGE BUSH DID. You're right, Dems still don't have the votes necessary to push back the Rethugs. These posters here--they think that democracy is perfect--they also can't count worth a damn, so they are unaware how many votes it takes to override a veto, or shut down Bush's Party. One thing about the Rethugs, they stick together.

That's all fine, but Pelosi and the party leaders failed to deliver the full Democratic vote on the legislation in the first place. Perhaps had they shown more resolve, they'd be in a better position to argue their point.

As is, the Dems who voted against this legislation, have made it easier for the GOP. And the Congressional party leadership FAILED...on perhaps the ONE piece of bipartisan legislation which they should have been able to pass easily over the sociopathic president's veto.
