Weighing in again on the Don Imus controversy, the National Association of Black Journalists Tuesday said the radio personality who outraged many with his comments about "nappy-headed ho's" should not be allowed back on the air.

NABJ called reports that Imus is in negotiations with Citadel Broadcasting and Fox News "unimaginable."

"It seems inconceivable that less than a year after Imus was dismissed from CBS Radio and MSNBC for his vicious insults upon the Rutgers women's basketball team, that Citadel Broadcasting and Fox News would consider putting him back on the air," Ernie Suggs, NABJ's vice president of print said in a statement. Suggs is an enterprise reporter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

I'M glade to see the BLACK REPORTERS keeping IMUS off the radio, JUST think of all the good they are doing lets compair:

IMUS TAKES HUNDREDS OF ILL CHILDREN AND GIVES THEM A WEEK, TWO WEEKS, ETC on a COWBOY RANCH to :
BREATH SOME FREASH AIR.
LEARN TO TAKE CARE OF FARM ANAMILS.
LEARN HOW TOSADLE A HORSE
RIDE A HORCE
TAKE CARE OF A HORSE, COW, SHEEP, ETC.EVEN WHEN SOME CAME IN A WHEEL CHAIR.
HE, HIS WIFE AND EVEN HIS SON JOIN IN THE LEARNING, TEACHING, HELPING AND MANY TIMES PUTING THAT GRIN INTO A SMILE OF HAPPYNESS.
DO THEY DO IT FOR MONEY I THINK NOT BECAUSE SOMETIMES THEY HEAR THAT ONE OF THE CHILDREN AFTER THE WEEK OR TWL DIED .
BUT MAYBE IMUS AND THE FAMILY CAN SMILE AND SAY WE GAVE HIM OR HER A TUCH OF REAL LIFE KNOWING THE PAIN THEY MUST OF WENT WITH DAY THEY SAT ABORED " THERE HORSE FOR THE TIME.

TELL ME BLACK REPORTERS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HELP A HUMAN BEING TO DAY MUSH LESS THE CHILDRED IN THE WORLD.

My suggestion is that the National Association of Black Journalists - whatever that is - should simply not listen to Imus if they are so offended by him. It is the course of action I take with regard to those bigots Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

What a way to treat a human being, months after Don Imus has apologized and was taken off air.
This is utter vindictiveness! Al Sharpton and others should focus on something more important.
Bring Imus back ! We are getting tired of boring talk shows.

I agree with you! These Black Journalists need to focus on the horrible acts of one Michael Vick...

Don Imus made a mistake and apologized for it. He needs to get back on the air. He showed he can be an ass but he also does wonderful things for little kids with cancer. Clarence Thomas, Condi Rice and a lot of black rappers have did more harm to the black community then Imus did with his nasty words.

Don Imus was railroaded out of a job because he stepped on too many powerful toes in both political Parties.
In this Country freedom of speech is defined as the liberty to express what is in the lexicon and philosophical construct of the special interests. Speech is permitted to extol the virtues of the "wealthest nation in the world." Speech is honored while bestowing the benefits of a ever growing stock market, ever expanding world trade, ever growing number of wealthy citizens, ever more concentration of corporate influence and authority. Speech is especially rewarding when it utters never a discouraging word of our amazing, seemingly miraculous "free enterprise", "global capitalistic" system while bestowing hourly, daily, weekly accolades about our wall street, corporate owners. There is complete freedom to discuss in dark terms the follies and dangers of a certain form of liberalism and to make light of those peculiar citizens who are not wholeheartedly behind our present traditional (called virtuously conservative) leadership.
On the other hand this abundance of positive freedom is gnawing away dramaticlly at our negative freedom to be permitted an equitable chance in the rich mans's race for wealth and power, and to be left unbounded from those indoctrinating forces that entrap men's minds and their right of a fair shake.

I could care less whether he is on or off. I hope that the Rutgers young lady takes him for every penny he's got. Maybe they'll put someone on with him everyday to keep his mouth in check. You can't always let come out your mouth what your mind is thinking, because your mouth might just write a check that your butt can't cash.

why keep imus off the air? its not the don imuses that are hurting black folk...its the uncle toms like richard steele...armstrong williamses and clarence thomases and JC watts'... and tall silly shits like lynn swann...that are killing us black folk.if that sick symbiotic relationship between toms and slavemasters had been dealt with in the 1600s...slavery probably would have never happened on so great a scale...even after the cotton gin was discovered.

Lotta venting here...And that's a good thing. I used to watch Imus in the morning while getting ready for work (and on the West coast that's early) He had interesting guests (politicians, celeberties, etc.)Is he an opinionated old fool.....probably. Is he a racist? IMHO he is definitely not. Does he do a lot of good for kids, charities?? Definitely more than most of us. Should he be allowed to earn a living.............DEFINITELY

Why don't Sharpton and Jackson concentrate more on the ghetto culture that eats away like cancer at the Black community? The gutter messages of gangster Rap, 80% dropout rates from school, high rates of unwed teenage mothers, an over dependence on Welfare are the fault of the individuals who CHOOSE crime over education and welfare over work.

Imus apologized. Get over it.

What seems to be consistent within some in the white community is to assume that berating Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson is a dig. Jet magazine celebrated its 55th year anniversary of its publication and not one of its sections highlighted or emphasized either Sharpton or Jackson as leaders or representatives.

Sharpton was one of about 25 or so notables commenting on the meaning of Jet's accomplishment, otherwise Jet highlighted a different group of leaders.

This is extremely telling for Jet and its readership, and it also demonstrates how some here spout off about Sharpton and Jackson without any visceral knowledge that their ire and placement of these two are very misplaced.

Yet, it is clear that one thing that those who spew ignorance and stupidity refuse to do is actually determine the facts.

It is the Left wing biased main stream media that gives them a pass and pushes them in our face as the Leaders of the black community. I wish we could see more of some one that actual cared about people and helping the Community and not lining their pockets with millions on the back of the people.

Typical dumbcasian. Most blacks are middle class or more affluent. You should worry about the overdependence on meth and cocaine and sexual deviance in YOUR community than supporting some old raggedy crackhead MILLIONAIRE radio host.

Give me a break, are we speaking Sharpton and Jessie Jackson??? Yeah, right. Like these two are so perfect and up right and can speak for the black community. I think not. And I am not even black. I say get a grip to these two and leave Imus alone. He spoke to the ladies involved, left the air. He has been gone for a while, the dust has settled. Now we have the dumb "Morning Joe". Please, that show sucks big time.

Imus apologized and was taken off the air. I think it is time for these loud mouths to shut up and let the man be who he is..granted Imus needs to be abit more sensitive and smart about what he says on the air. BUT I am mighty tired of that shill Jackson who is a pastor right...and Sharpton, he is one too, right. WHAT ABOUT FORGIVENESS AL AND JESSE? And that is not to lessen the insult that was thrown at the Rutgers women and Af-Am Women everywhere...My lordy lordy...move on.

You don't have a clue who Don Imus really is. Why don't you focus your anger on Michael Vick?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:17 PM on 10/09/2007

Let me start withy this .I detest Don Imus and I like his perverted producer Bernard even less BUT the very same people that want him kept off the air havemade some real boneheaded moves in the past and received redemption. The Tawanna Brawley case was a fiasco that could have put some very innocent men in jail because they loaded up on a bogus claim based solely on racial bias they had received in the past not because the claims were true. They exploited a teenage girl to do this while they were at it.Imus has paid a price far more than they have for that miscarriage of justice.let the man work again because you want equality for all.

How long ago did the Tawanda Brawley incident Happen? I love when people come on here, and have to go back 16 or 17 years back to try and compare what happened with an old washed up man. I don't hear you talking about the Lacross team at Duke, they were aressted and charged falsely.

The lies and perjured statements in the brawley case are far more egregious than anything Imus has said, and could have sent those guys to prison. Hell, if they were convicted they could still be there now. That fat pig sharpton has been a race baiter from the start. As for jesse(Look!! A camera! Out of my way) jackson, he has no moral authority to comment on anyone. Remember both these clowns were in a prominent role in the rush to lynch of the Duke players.

Tawanna Brawley was 14yr old girl who lied and was caught up in it.It's strange how people have to reach back that far to grasp at straws.Don Imus is a 60yr old drug addicted senior citizen who has a history of making racist jokes about Blacks and women. He had "apologized" many times and continued that awful behavior. If goes back on the air, boycott his sponsors.Case closed.

hey jazz42 if the Duke players were trying to keep him off the air I would say the same thing. It is you using a straw argument here not me.Free speech is for all or it is for none and no group has a right to permanently damn any person for any reason that is opinion related.Sorry come with a better point than the one you did NOT just make.

I'd like you to seperate the issue from the person for a minute. People are human and faulted...issues are usually absolute. Imus the human apologized and was forgiven...Imus the issue had to go. As Rush, BillO, and Hannity the issues, will have to go if Republicans are ever going to be taken seriously again. This unholy pact we've made with racists, con- artists and political grifters has to be dumped, because the party is toast.
