CNN's Sanchez Isn't Afraid Of Challenging O'Reilly, Olbermann

One Thursday in July, CNN's Rick Sanchez received an e-mail from network president Jonathan Klein.

"I need a hard-throwing righty out of the bullpen," to fill in for Paula Zahn as anchor for a week in the crucial 8 p.m. weekday time slot, Mr. Klein wrote, according to Mr. Sanchez. "Can you be in New York by Monday?"

That flight isn't more than a couple of hours, but the distance between his gig as a weekend daytime anchor for CNN, based in Atlanta, was a world away. This was the big leagues: If only for a week, the energetic, 49-year-old Cuban immigrant would go head-to-head against Fox's fed-up conservative, Bill O'Reilly, and MSNBC's liberal sophisticate, Keith Olbermann.

I think I remember Sanchez injured or killed a guy,
either Hit & Run or driving DUI, and getting off Scott free.
In my opinion, Sanchez is more-or-less the O.J. Simpson of Journalism.

It's a shame when the news presenter is the big story and not the news itself (which is what it should really be), Walter Cronkite would be apalled!!!!

What happened to my comment that said Rick Sanchez is a noisy, irritating asshole? Anything wrong with that?

Rick Sanchez is a noisy irritating asshole. Naturally, CNN is promoting him. This article is such a puff piece, I wonder if he wrote it himself.

From Inside Cable News blog:
Rick Sanchez interview¦
The New York Observer"s Zachary Roth interviews CNN"s Rick Sanchez¦

The same Klein that offered LAura Ingram to host this show until Campbell Brown (wife of Bushie and FOX analyst) comes to CNN.... I am soooo glad Olbermann is kicking CNN's ass right now!! When LK retires they will really lose viewers.

Hey Sanchez! How many slave labour peasants did your family own and abuse when they lived in Cuba.

I guess you want them back now huh?

Sanchez is an assclown. A pompous and self important windbag. He should fit right in with the CNN crowd.

CNN is a sick joke.

Sanchez is the perfect poster child to represent their whole network.

Sanchez is extremely abrasive and irritating! He is like a fingernail scraping on a blackboard! I was so happy, when I saw him off of CNN's weekend line-up. Tony Harris is a "doll," compared to Sanchez. I have to turn the channel, when I see Sanchez! And to think that they fired poor Carol Lin for this idiot! And HE is going to try to "out-do" our wonderful Keith Olbermann? Give me a break! He has no talent, no brains, and he is as irritating and abrasive as hell! No one will be able to watch him long enough to see if they can tolerate him, much less watch the entire show!

He's going to have to stand on some mighty tall and broad shoulders to reach Olbermann's kneecap.

What passes for discussion these days is loud and short -- three or four minutes at best, which cranks up the old tension meter, thereby giving an importance to matters where none is warranted. Throw into the mix yet another self-important big mouth who interrupts constantly to create the impression that he is listening and knows something and you have the typical CNN talking head, i.e. Glen Dreck and Nancy Disgrace.
