AP:

Hybrids don't have to sacrifice looks to be environmentally friendly -- they can be muscular and stylish, too. That's the message Honda hopes to send at this month's Tokyo auto show with its new gas-electric hybrid sports car CR-Z.

"This is something rivals can't offer," Tetsuji Morikawa, a Honda Motor Co. engineer, said of the CR-Z, whose sales date is promised for the "near future."

The vehicle has maintained "the essence of the sports car" while still delivering good mileage and less pollution, he said.

Looks like a 1970's Ford Torino.

They used to take off at 90 mph.

How about a plug in hybrid for people who just want to get around, without going (probably) over 100 miles per hour?

Does a hybrid car really need an air intake like a jet engine? Nice lines otherwise. There other hybrids had negligable mileage improvements for the money.

I'm looking forward to an all electric like...

Well, you've got separate cooling systems for the internal combustion engine, the inverter/converter, the battery, possibly an intercooler if it's diesel or turbocharged, possibly an EGR cooler, an oversized AC condensor so you can have AC even when the engine is off, perhaps a transmission cooler...

go look at a 2008 Ford SuperDuty. 6 radiators.

Its about time.

Anyone with any marketing sense knows that aesthetics is 90% of the appeal of a vehicle -- as soon as I see a Solstice hybrid, I'll be one the first to buy it.

The Tesla was a broadcast power car in Science Fiction short stories by Eric Frank Russell.

Just tune to Rush and run on the hot air he broadcasts.

Love the body exterior design.

However, I wonder about battery replacement cost.

When are we going to get plug in hybrids ?

At leasst Hondas are fun to drive, unlike Toyotas. The "dustbuster" nose needs to be revisited and I hope the dash is a little normal. Might be interesting.

Given that the batteries wear out eventually, does anyone have any info on the used hybrid market? How are they dismantled? How much are new batteries? Hmmm.

Just put a horse on the grill. The only difference
between the Edsel grill [looks like a dodge that sucked a lemon] and the Mustang grill was the horse.

It works on the same principles as a dustbuster - sucking.
