I Like ItI Don’t Like It

From Roll Call's Heard on the Hill:

One might think it would be great to have Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) as a neighbor (imagine the block parties!). But the Speaker apparently is not making herself popular in her high-dollar 'hood, telling reporters on Tuesday that protesters have taken up residence outside her house and are driving the natives wild.

"I've had four or five months of people sitting outside my home, going into my garden in San Francisco and angering my neighbors," Pelosi said at a gathering sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

Pelosi added that the squatters have engaged in decidedly non-neighborly behavior like hanging their clothes from the trees; moving in sofas, chairs and other "permanent living facilities"; and, oddly, building a large Buddha on the sidewalk in front of her home. "You can just imagine my neighbors' reactions to all of this," she said. "And if they were poor, and they were sleeping on my sidewalk, they'd be arrested for loitering, but because they have 'impeach Bush' across their chest, it's the First Amendment."

Do you realize what certain segments of the population may conclude from Pelosi's remarks? I can guess:

"See - once a woman achieves real power all it does is bring out their vanity and pettiness; rather than concern themselves with issues of real substance they dwell on appearances.".

Such does not further Clinton's electability.

It's all relative. Compared to Bush, Cheney, and the rest of their insane clown posse they are geniuses.

Having said that, yeah, we can do a lot better.

And their gender is to the 70% of the non-idiot voters in America who have given up on the chimp and the chump completely irrelevant.

Vanity? Pettiness? Wow, steve, that never crossed my mind.

How'd you get into such a Neanderthal mindset so quickly and easily? Hmmm?

What does being a woman have to do with anything? She's not just a Congresswoman. She's also the Speaker. See my comments above.

put impeachment back on the table (cheney first) and I am sure your pesky constituants will disappear and go out and re-elect you. otherwise, plan on a real fight for your seat in the next election.

Right. So W can drag us through a VP approval process where he'll probably drag out Santorum or some other sanctimonious right-winger as his new best pal? Sounds like a great idea.

We might as well wait it out at this point. Impeachment is just a pipe dream of the masses - this congress doesn't have the cojones necessary to stand up to Bush on kid's health insurance. I doubt they'd actually go for impeachment.

We need to go through the impeachment process. My thinking is to impeach both bush and cheney. Same thinking, same crimes...We need to go through this process to prove to the rest of the world that we can handle rogue politicians like those in the failed bush regime. If we don't, it will take decades of doing virtually everything right to make up for what we Americans have foisted on the rest of the world.

Yep. Put the legal recourse of the populous back on the table, Nancy. It was a stupid thing to state you wouldn't "follow the law".

And, Nancy, dearest - if you think we enjoy sitting on that street in front of your well-maintained abode - get a grip, girl.

We are there because you are not there for us.
We are there to make sure you know that you are not there for us.
We are the conscience that you just can't seem to get a grip on morally.
Deal with it, dear.
It would be over the minute you started doing the job you were elected to do.

Agreed. Impeachment is NEVER off the table because it's in the freaking constitution as a remedy for disasters like Bush.

That's like a D.A. coming into office proclaiming that prosecution of homicides is off the table.

What she should have said was "Impeachment is always an option because it's in the Constitution. Having said that we will not pursue impeachment over irrelevant matters like a person's sex life. We will only use it for high crimes and misdemeanors as instructed by the Consitution which is the law of our land."

Right martin she should have said those things, and she did NOT.

Then she should have lead the charge to impeach this traitor to our nation, but she did NOT.

So now, justifiably there are numerous protesters near her residence. I support them. Why don't you?

Pelosi's vision of things I find troubling. Yes, of course, the Republicans are all hammer heads and the president has a teeny bopper Oppositional Defiant Disorder--but one in Polosi't position still must fight the good heroic fight. She must find the courage within her heart to draw a line in the sand and cut off all funding for offensive actions in Iraq and elsewhere (Iran). This is not to say that U.S. forces can't protect themselves--they just can't 'do the surge' or 'bomb, bomb, bomb...bomb, bomb Iran' (Beach Boys, Barbara Ann).

So Nancy Pelosi dares to ask for a modicom of privacy from the unwashed Stalinist masses that helped get her elected, Oh the irony is rich. as one blogger put it, did you wake up to find a used condom, ruffled sheets, and an unusually painful sphincter? The dems you helped get elected want nothing to do with you in public. they want to hide you like a retarded relative (with apologies to the Kennedy clan.)you see, your brand of crazy just doesn't sell well in Peoria. So, as per your want, eat her alive like you do anyone that doesn't tow the party line to a tee..
bon appetit comrades

Anyway, The Buddah is about nonviolence and the benefit of all sentient beings, so I think it's a beautiful and very appropriate thing to put up on Pelosi's lawn.

How does it feel to be on the wrong side of protest? I can remember not long ago when Sheehan was camping outside Crawford Ranch, we had daily reports of that. All good of course because it was against the hated Bush. But now that it's madame speaker it is starting to piss off the neighbors? Big fucking deal, this is your liberal leaders in action. What's good for Bush is not good for Pelosi. Her and Harry Reid are two idiots but they have been smart enough to know that there followers are even more idiots. VOTE REPUBLICAN.

I don't know where you live but I read nothing but reports of how pissed off the neighbors were by Sheehan and her protest.

I agree with you - what's good for Bush is good for Pelosi.

And if they don't like, don't run for office.

Good.
Pelosi needs to be reminded EVERY DAY that the views of the dirty hippies outside her home are also the views of 73% of Americans who will remove her from office at their next opportunity.

Where does it say that they were/are "dirty hippies"? If I was within a hundred miles of there I would be sitting with them and I am neither dirty nor a hippy...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:27 PM on 10/10/2007

Right on biker. These people don't even know what a hippie was. There hasn't been real hippies sicnce 1968. They think anyone with long hair and blue jeans is a hippie.
Dirty? What could be dirtier than murdering little children in their sleep?
We all now know what bush thinks of children.

Pelosi in particular needs to be haraassed at every opportunity. She has sold her soul to the devil, and sold the rest of us down the river. A disappointment?! No; an outrage. She has single-handedly destroyed the Dems chances to win the next election by decimating the ranks. She certainly convinced me to Vote Green.

Well then you are easily convinced to act not in your best interest.

Seems like not too long ago Ralph Nader was saying there wasn't a dime's worth of difference between Bush and Gore.

On Iraq alone, Ralph was off by a trillion bucks.

People DID Vote. More of the same. At some point,
Paul Revere, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington didn't wait for more of the same. They took action. Wait for a Primary to get more two-faced wimps who pass " non-binding resolutions" and deny the People their Constitutional right to an Impeachment investigation while more U.S. Soldiers die in Iraq ? Ask the men who got shot yesterday to wait for the Primary. People are peacefully protesting Pelosi. They have a right to do so.

Low class to voice decency vs on-going silence continuing war criminality, how long does one need to ponder such options? Hmmm.

Cheers,

Perhaps the young soccer moms - or do we call them security moms now - can learn that just because a politician is a woman it does not mean that the politician will get anything accomplished.

Pelosi enables bush. It is very hard to feel sorry for her. If she was unwilling or mentally unable to execute the duties of her office, then she should not have sold her soul to get the position in the first place.
