Protesters Building Large "Buddha" Outside Pelosi's House

One might think it would be great to have Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) as a neighbor (imagine the block parties!). But the Speaker apparently is not making herself popular in her high-dollar 'hood, telling reporters on Tuesday that protesters have taken up residence outside her house and are driving the natives wild.

"I've had four or five months of people sitting outside my home, going into my garden in San Francisco and angering my neighbors," Pelosi said at a gathering sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

Pelosi added that the squatters have engaged in decidedly non-neighborly behavior like hanging their clothes from the trees; moving in sofas, chairs and other "permanent living facilities"; and, oddly, building a large Buddha on the sidewalk in front of her home. "You can just imagine my neighbors' reactions to all of this," she said. "And if they were poor, and they were sleeping on my sidewalk, they'd be arrested for loitering, but because they have 'impeach Bush' across their chest, it's the First Amendment."

People, people, please take a moment and look at what Pelosi is really saying: homeless people can sleep on the sidewalk in front of a representative's residence IF they write political statements on their clothes.

Activists: Keep your message going and help the homeless. Pass out t-shirts with your message printed on them to the homeless. Guide them to the home of your elected representative and drop off food and drink for them there. While they keep your message ever-present, you'll be free to raise money and awareness elsewhere. It's a win-win for you and the homeless. Thanks for the idea, Madame Speaker!

Why doesn't Speaker Pelosi do what speakers do, go out, speak to her guests and find what they want? The first time I remember hearing about Madam Speaker Pelosie was a few years ago when she got up on the senate floor and and suggested they just impeach Bush on the grounds of incompetancy and get it over with. That was free speech too. I think Nancy has a lot in common with her "groupies". Someone should remind her.

On November 6, I naively believed that Bush would be impeached by spring time. Even the first "impeachment off the table" quotes from Nancy didn't register with me as I still believed in her.

She has been Bush's protector and has been an advocate for the Invasion and Occupation. The vast majority of taxpayers want us out now but Pelosi has become as terrible as Bush. She's a Pretender and a Yes Woman to Bush/Cheney.

Acting as one of the Good Ones while dealing down and dirty with Bushco puts her in the toilet of the politcal bathroom.

If camping out on Pelosi's lawn and making a nuisance of themselves is the only way to reach her, so be it. Clearly, public demonstrations in massive numbers, the assault of letters and calls she receives everyday, plus extensive domestic and global polls indicating that an overwhelming majority of people believe the US should end the occupation, impeach Bush and try him and his cronies for war crimes -- well, those signals are too easy for her to ignore. Pelosi should be reminded EVERY day, on her home turf, that her refusal to act betrays the will of the American.
