Time:

The following Q&A With Jenna Bush is from Time Magazine's weekly 10 Questions feature where readers submit questions online.

Below is a question from Donald Pence, San Francisco about Jenna Bush service in Iraq.

If the war in Iraq is so noble, why aren't you and your sister serving our country there?

Jenna Bush: I understand that point, but there are many ways to serve our country, and I think my skills are better suited for teaching and representing the U.S. in Latin America through unicef. I respect the men and women of our country who are over there fighting. It is an unbelievably selfless thing to do. But if people really thought about it, they would know it's not even a practical question.

The privileged will not serve except through a draft. The question is irrelevant nothing will change from it. Ms. Bush will not serve and his father certainly would not let her.

Iraq is not hot enough for the Bush clan -- but there is a special place that is!

You know, the remarkable thing here is not just that Bush's daughters are not in the military, nor Rove's son, nor, Cheney's daughter....if any one of them were not serving, hey, no big deal.

No, it's just the accumulated weight of the fact that NONE of them, zero, nobody, nada have so much as joined the ROTC.

Chickenhawks, every last one them. War criminals of the first order.

The Ballad of the Bush Girls

I love my flag, I do, I do

Which floats upon the breeze

I also love my arms and legs

And neck, and nose, and knees.

One IED might spoil them all

or give them such a twist

They would be of no use to me

I guess I won't enlist.

1584 hateful posts and counting - this should teach Jenna to quit writing or may be ghost writing a self-serving platitude book.
.
Too late too little to help Daddy's image, or hers. My advise is to lay low, almost invisible, while counting the days till Air Force One to drop your clan back to Texas. What a legacy!
.
Make that 1585.

She is trying to build her image and she will dump chimpy dad anytime.

The fat young woman should be told that the US Army can get her fat butt slim and train her to kill in six weeks, and if she is up to it, fuck Iraqi men at will, and she can teach and represent the US in Middle East how to be fat and fuck.

Respect my foot! What she really means that those selfless, really dumb fucks and probably soulless, in the US military basically are in conscripted army. They can’t leave, can’t refuse, and if they are dead, they become a statistic, and that is all.

One thing for sure, if the children of the privileged rich and the pompous politicians
were in harms way soldiering in Iraq, this fucking non purposeful war would come to an instant end.

Dear Jena, Don't squirt that bull shit line on me;
There are many ways to serve. There is only one
way to serve that counts!

I admire Jenna Bush. She obviously disagrees with her father's policies and especially in regard to AIDS and she's doing soemthing about it. We all serve this country in many ways and she's doing the best she can to serve all of us.

I'm no fan of the Chimp-in-Chief--he should be hung, impeached, and then tortured (in that order)--but his daughter's comment was taken out of context. The entire article shows that she's done some good works. Playing a game of "gotcha" in this instance plays into the right wing's hands of trying to marginalize the left. I'd rather spend my time pummeling on the likes of Malkin, Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity and similar lowlifes who should be the real targets of scorn.

This whole post is based on bad logic. Whether or not Jena serves in Iraq has no relevance on the question of whether we should be in Iraq. A President should make war decision on their merits and children of presidents should have no special obligation to serve.

Of course they should! Tell that to the families of the fallen soldiers of everywhere where the sons and fathers fought alongside each other. To take your country to war but not expect your own children to serve in that war is to say, one, your children are expendable but mine are not. And two, this war is important enough for you to send your children to fight but not enough to send mine! It is about privilege and the importance of the policy. The Bush Family is better than you and I and they want you to know that. War, that's why we have to have poor people! They are expendable!

None of the people who wanted this war served their countries in wars when they should have that is what is so sick about this whole thing.
If this war is so important why aren't the people who took us there pushing their children and relatives to join this War that will change the world.

If Jenna Bush doesn't want to join the military it is her decision. The military is a all volunteer force. If Jenna chooses not to go it is her choice. And I though all you Liberals were for a WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE.

Another dumass that tries to confuse the issue. They always are trying to make what isn't more important than what is but on the other hand, maybe they are too stupid to understand the difference.

This is one of the most idiotic articles I have ever read. What is the percentage of women in the military, less then 10% maybe? Women for the most part aren't raised to consider the military as an option. Get real.
